Wright was in between Baliff and Fran.

And I think they should go back to FCS. But how many teams have ever done that backwards move? 1 - Idaho this year, and that was the best decision they could make. They also had no place being in FBS.

I doubt a backwards move would help in any of their sports.   You don't see  many schools with 30,000 students in FCS football.  Besides they are in Texas which is ground zero for recruting football talent where as Idaho is a great place to spend times outdoors or on the slopes... but that's about it.  Oh and Boise State gets all the love up there..... Let's not forget about that.

When they were FCS in the Southland, they couldn't win the conference nor advance to the playoffs even as an at-large entry on a consistent basis.  I think they might have done it once or twice since they moved up to D1-AA from DII back in the 80's.   Same thing with their other sports.  Sam Houston was and still is the baseball power in the SLC and SFA has the basketball market cornered.    Texas State was never in the conversation in those sports in the SLC.    They make a good schedule filler for UT and other D1 programs in Texas since it's a relatively short and inexpenisve trip for them to come take a beating on the court and diamond up in Austin, Collie Station, Waco, etc.

The problem appears to be more of an institutional one where athletics takes a low priority.   It will probably take a few changes in leadership positions to get Texas State on the right path.   It's really puzziling because the school has done well to transform itself since the name change from the party school image and the city itself has transformed as well.

  2. Murray will be off to the MLB as soon as this season concludes.   He's avoided the injury bug, but he's due based on the law of averages.

Pops will make sure he's out of Norman before it occurs.

I don't get why hitting isn't a part of a normal weekly routine.  This isn't the NFL where basically every practice is a walk through.   Yet.....

Have to think that is the case.  He turned down the oregon state job because it didn't have the right AD.  CU just fired their national coach of the year 2 years after he got them to the top of the conference.  Les doesn't have 2 stops left in him.  He can't bet tarnishing his legacy on an AD that won't give him 5 years.  At KU if he gets us to a bowl he will show that a good coach can win anywhere at any time.  If he goes to a school and gets fired after 3 seasons his goose is cooked and he is known as the coach who couldn't win anywhere.  At KU if he loses everyone will say "yeah but kansas."

My bet ...  If Les flops at KU, he's either on ESPN or CBS doing TV for the rest of his working days (see Mack Brown).........   Oh, and selling Dos Equis again.

Let's not start sucking Tim Beck's dick just yet. He's a great QB coach, but he's not the offensive coordinator if Tom Herman is the one calling plays. It's not like Tim Beck figured it out and is a good OC now.

Oh hell no!  He still has two, maybe three games to fuck things up and become the Tim Beck we have come to loathe and disrespect.

  6. If they put up this effort next week against Washington, it should vault them into a position where a couple of upsets in the conference championship games gets them in.

It should. The committee may have a permanent hard on for Michigan and Norte Dame. And of course they really would like to get OU in there if they could.
  7. Plus Michigan beat SMU and Western Michigan who kind of suck too in non conference. Norte Dame best them, but everyone and their cats and dogs except ESPN knows Notre Dame is overrated. Gosh I hope SC can beat them or we will have to watch Clemson or Bama commit the crime for us.

One word: defense. We lost it during the OU game. Glad we got it back tonight.

It was also nice the Refs didn’t fuck up the flow of the game. Probably the best called all year for both teams too.
