ARTICLE 3. A live ball becomes dead and an official shall sound his whistle
    or declare it dead:
    a. When it goes out of bounds other than a kick that scores a field goal after
    touching the uprights or crossbar; when a ball carrier is out of bounds;
or when a ball carrier is so held that his forward progress is stopped.
When in question, the ball is dead (A.R. 4-2-1-II).
    b. When any part of the ball carrier’s body, except his hand or foot, touches
the ground or when the ball carrier is tackled or otherwise falls and loses
possession of the ball as he contacts the ground with any part of his
FR-58 Rule 4 / Ball in Play, Dead Ball, Out of Bounds
body, except his hand or foot [Exception: The ball remains alive when
an offensive player has simulated a kick or at the snap is in position to
kick the ball held for a place kick by a teammate. The ball may be kicked,
passed or advanced by rule] (A.R. 4-1-3-I).
    c. When a touchdown, touchback, safety, field goal or successful try occurs;
or when a free kick or a scrimmage kick that is untouched by Team B
beyond the neutral zone touches the ground in Team B’s end zone (Rules
    6-1-7-a, 6-3-9, and A.R. 6-3-9-I).
    d. When, during a try, a dead-ball rule applies (Rule 8-3-2-d-5).
    e. When a player of the kicking team catches or recovers any free kick or a
scrimmage kick that has crossed the neutral zone.
    f. When a free kick, scrimmage kick or any other loose ball comes to rest
and no player attempts to secure it.
    g. When a scrimmage kick or a free kick is caught or recovered by any player
after a valid or invalid fair-catch signal; or when an invalid fair-catch
signal is made after a catch or recovery by Team B (Rules 2-8-1 through
    3).
    h. When there is a return kick or a scrimmage kick is made beyond the
    neutral zone.
    i. When a forward pass is ruled incomplete.
    j. When, before a change of team possession on fourth down or a try, a
Team A fumble is caught or recovered by a Team A player other than the
    fumbler (Rules 7-2-2-a and -b and 8-3-2-d-5).
    k. When a live ball not in player possession touches anything inbounds
other than a player, a player’s equipment, an official, an official’s equipment
or the ground (inadvertent-whistle provisions apply).
    l. When there is a simultaneous catch or recovery of a live ball.
    m. When the ball becomes illegal while in play (inadvertent-whistle
    provisions apply).
    n. When a live ball comes into possession of an official (inadvertent-whistle
    provisions apply).
    o. When a ball carrier simulates placing his knee on the ground.
    p. When an airborne pass receiver of either team is held so that he is
prevented from immediately returning to the ground (A.R. 7-3-6-III).
    q. When a ball carrier’s helmet comes completely off.
    r. When a ball carrier obviously begins a feet-first slide. (A.R. 4-1-3-III)

Understood, but it was F'ed up they spent so much damn time to determine exactly where the ball should be placed and with so much of the play was obscured, the replay booth should of said it was inconclusive.    Those -ucks in the booth are trying to micromanage shit just like the NFL and how is that doing for the NFL.  It royally sucks.

All I know is Tom better raise holy hell if that ever occurs to one of our opponents carrying the ball.   There better be a 15 minute meeting about it and the ball better be placed right on the spot the helmet came off.

  2. Jerry won't do anything until the True Blue Kool aid drinkers quit buying  his merchandise.

I'm a Cowboy fan, but I am not one of these guys or gals who gets offended when anyone says ANYTHING negative about the Cowboys.   I mean post anything on Facebook that's a negative about the Cowboys, you get instant threats on your well being with some of them.  I've never seen a  hardcore fanbase so void of reality.... Except for Aggy.

But these are the same people who will say "Jerry Sucks" on their way over to Academy to buy a new Cowboy shirt or cap.  It's really funny to see the disconnect.

Until  the True Blue Kool Aid Drinkers figure this out, Jerry will just continue to see that his bank account is great and their will be nothing to see here folks.

I hate it but Tom is going to have to work the fucking officials during the game.  you can't be passive. he should have been in the linesman ass all game about his spots. Holgerson was working the officials all fucking game after the 2 personal fouls and the holding on their receiver blew a big gain for them.  guess what they paid him back in spades with key penalties like BS DL holding call, shitty spots, Elijah Rodriguez "hold", horsecollar, etc.  the officials essentially gifted WVU 7 on the horsecollar. it was 3rd and 15 at our 37 and took away  a very possible 7 on the failure to give CJ the 1st down. a 14 point swing on 2 fucking horribly missed calls.

They had 14 penalties but the only one that was questionable was the DL Holding.  they had a bunch of false starts, obvious PI on LJH, etc.

Dare I say Mack was pretty darn good about working the Refs during games.   Yes, there have been several times  in the last four games Tom should of been in the side judges ear the entire game.   Take the K State game where those turds didn’t get one penalty callled against them.   That’s virtually impossible now a days with the speed of the game.     Last night he should of been bitching up a storm on some of those spots and that bulllshit call on Sam.  In fact he should of sent out a giant fuck you in the press conference and called the BIG 12 out on that and risked the fine or whatever for criticizing the Refs.   We’d set up a Go Fund me to pay that shit on here.   But these fuckers called Refs and their supervisors need to be called out including the twats in the replay booth.

  4. This is the second best thing to happen to KU football this year. Here is my wish list in no particular order:
    miles
    kiffin
    monken
navy corch (not even going to try and spell his name)
    pelini
i think one of these guys would come. There is a ton of chatter about miles with various schools (Maryland, Missouri potentially, KSU fans want him) I have to believe this is the year he gets back on the sideline. KU would be a natural fit because of our recent success in recruiting Louisiana. I think kiffin is the least likely but I’d love to have him. I think pelini is a long shot because him and tressel seem to be matched for the long haul. I’d jump at the chance to go triple option.

Les Miles at KU would be interesting. Question is could he take second fiddle to basketball which commands most of the attention up there. For lack of a better way to put it, Les Miles is an attention whore. I mean he’s doing Dos Equis commercials vs the commentator roll other former big name coaches usually do.

They don't have to be that fast. I can guarantee the Iowa State guys wouldn't meet your qualifications for speediness.

Playing fast and being fast are two very different things.

Good point.  But they look like geniuses compared to incompetence we’ve put on display the past two weeks.

That said, Iowa State doesn't seem to have the gaping hole at line backer that Texas has.

But the recipe for giving that offense fits is in a well executed 3 man front, multiple quarters look.

And that’s what you have to have when you do a three man front.   Your LBs better be so fast they could crap on lightening or you will be picking up your jocks , drive after drive.
