  1. Too many "judgment calls" not panning out leads to a new coach. Hopefully one with better judgment.
  2. Lots of positions looked confused under Charlie.
  3. So... Should we be thanking Kliff Kingsbury for going to Arizona? Or Arizona for hiring him? Or Tech for firing him in the first place? Or Patrick Mahomes for making him seem fashionable by association?
  4. Sadly, this is a realistic potential concern. Oh well, hope for the best, but never forget that we are in The House That Jerry Built.
  5. It's best to not be too optimistic about the Cowboys. Maybe it will all magically come together some year, but this is still the House That Jerry Built. I'll believe in Moore when he delivers and not one second before.
  6. Well there's a terrifying thought. On a completely unrelated point, I read a Cowboy-related trivia factoid today. When the fucking Eagles won the Super Bowl last year, that made the NFC East the only division where every team has won at least one Super Bowl.
  7. He's more or less at 0.500 on the winning percentage and hasn't produced a team anyone's been excited about in four years. So the debate over mediocrity seems settled. If we're moving on to the next question, it's certainly not how good he is.
  8. Not really a meaningful point when Jason has 8 years as a HC and Sean has 2.
  9. They didn't luck into it. They have a strong, established offensive identity and a track record of success with QBs that makes them attractive to the candidates out there. Hopefully, Herman understands that, unlike Mack and Charlie.
  10. Yeah, that's who I want to turn to for a credible analysis of Saudi Arabia--Jay Fucking Paterno. There are moments in life that are beyond satire.
  11. Then it won't work. Jerry ain't firing Jason.
  12. Need to get the defense off the field with some long drives.
  13. It's amazing how many people still want to write paeans to Jeff fucking Fisher. Guess they have a soft spot for staggering mediocrity.
  14. I just don't see the Redskins' uniforms as anything special. They're not awful, but they're not Top 5 material, either. Metallic colors are almost always good. That's why you have the Cowboys, Niners and Raiders up there. The Saints would be there too if they hadn't gone to that all black look. Cowboys in white are, of course, the best.
  15. So who thinks we will win? If the Eagles could beat them, we definitely have a shot.
  16. Don't care. After where we've been the this decade, I'll gladly take 10-4, a Sugar Bowl win, and a Top 10 finish. We've got a pulse on the national scene again. Keep it up Mr. Herman.
  17. Very true. Another big point is that this staff seems to do player development. Our guys get better from year to year and over the course of the season.
  18. Nice to see stuff like that again. It's been a while.
  19. I'm glad as hell he picked us for his PG transfer.
  20. Thanks are indeed due. Texas football finally feels relevant again, and they should be proud. I had a late-breaking chance to be at the game, and it was glorious. Can't say enough about this team and what they did this year.
  21. I'm all for Georgia players skipping the Sugar Bowl.
  22. Obviously we haven't turned the corner to becoming a top notch program yet, but I'm just hoping for the best in the future. If you simply must take shots at the current staff in order to build up a departed one, feel free to appease your own needs. But don't expect anyone to take you seriously, as either an informed critic or someone honestly cheering the current program.
  23. That doesn't address the issue raised. Charlie had zero OL recruits for 2017 at the time of his firing. Yes, he tried to haul in guys in December, but there was no chance in hell that was going to work again after his third straight losing season. That's one of the big reasons Charlie had to go--his ability to recruit at the level needed was over. Keep Charlie for another year and the OL would have been a shit storm in both 2017 and 2018. But by all means continue to make snide insinuations about Herman's efforts on the OL. How else are you going to get that Charlie Strong Mythological Society medal? And again, people don't hate Charlie. They've just lost patience with endless adoring odes to a failed coach that invariably seem to include gratuitous shots at the guy trying to fix things now.
  24. I certainly don't hate Charlie. I just reject the idea that Charlie significantly upgraded the overall talent level at UT in his time here, or that "the mix was in the pan." Charlie left us a roster pretty much as unbalanced as the one Mack left, a few better players in some areas, a few worse in others. Certainly nothing to write home about after three years. It was at best on par with the kind of roster stocking that Mack was ultimately fired for. And the Charlie "late recruiting rush" wouldn't have worker at all if we'd kept him that last year. He simply didn't have a record capable of pulling that off anymore. Sadly, Charlie's going down in UT history as a placeholder who didn't get it done.
