I know this won't happen, but I'd like to think that Strickland broke into the office, and replaced the gun in the safe so that when ballistics tests come back, it will show that the gun in the safe was not the murder weapon.  I think Strickland hates the douchie DA more than Perry.

This was my thought. I like @Brandywine take as well. Regardless it’s not the murder weapon (imo).

One of the better shows on television right now.

I listened to the audiobook of this and didn’t particularly like it, which I think is partly due to the interview format and constantly hearing people state their name before speaking 2 lines and then moving onto the next character.

The story felt like the Hallmark version of Almost Famous. Most of the main characters had a happy ending, but there were drug references and f-words sprinkled throughout in an attempt to make it sound dark and edgy. Rock and roll music is full of real life stories that involve actual tragedy, so this kinda flirted with tragedy but never let anyone suffer any serious consequences, and the story felt a little too clean and polished as a result.

Most of you seem to like the series. Is it still worth a watch if I didn’t love the audiobook?

It was entertaining. The interviews didn’t distract from the show imo.

However the rest of your critique matches how I felt. Meh. I wanted to like it a lot more than I did, nostalgia and all that. Ultimately I didn’t buy the interpersonal tension that was the crux of the show.

  3. Recently finished this after listening to Dan Carlin's Supernova in the East podcast.

The details of his war are intense and heartbreaking.  Just fucking horrible stuff.  His final paragraph was kind of a shock:

"Until the millenium arrives and countries cease trying to enslave others, it will be necessary to accept one's responsibility and to be willing to make sacrifices for one's country - as my comrades did."

He looked forward and thought the future held a better world, that insane actions by evil madmen and war-like countries would end.  Wrong; I suppose it's the only way to sanely carry on with his life after what he experienced.

Yeah, I’m pretty much used to the idea that I’m going to have to flip up. Record snows. Like, not even close. But that will still be a decision that will be made mid-June. Gotta get through 700 miles of desert first.

Damn dude, that is one helluva personal challenge. Good for you, jealous.

Can you go into some more details on your first stage plan, miles per day, sleeping spots. Every time I drive through Palm Springs I scan the hillside north of I-10 searching for the trail line. Fascinates me.

  5. Motherfucker. Vaccinated, boosted, three years of negative results and BAM, get run over by a bus. Covid put me in bed four days  with the worst flu symptoms I can recall.

I was a little cocky, thought I was impervious. Yeah, no. If they recommend getting a yearly dose here forward I’ll be first in line. Fuck this.

  6. I’ve found myself smiling through at least 50% of this show. Involuntarily, just reaction. Can’t recall any other show I’ve reacted that way.

I’m also intrigued by the bespoke liquor cabinet in the back of his rig. Might be a future birthday request.

  7. I watched this on a long flight and thought it was very, very ambitious. Kind of shocked someone greenlit the financing of it. Must have cost a fortune.

If I weren’t stuck in a seat for 10 hours I can see how someone can bail halfway through. It’s  … odd. But I’m glad I did get to the end. It’s powerful in a completely unique way. The halfway setup was easily worth the last half pay off.

Fucking hell getting teary about rocks? Yeah that happened.

I loved it, but my dumb ass didn't put the relationship as a microcosm of the Irish civil war piece together till like a day later. I took it at face value. Jesus I'm dense. Two friends fighting over what seems like nonsense, ramping it up to ridiculous levels. Innocent people die (and a donkey), people flee to get away from it (the sister). It sort of ends..but will most likely continue for years.(the troubles)

I need to watch it again.

Same. I liked it but didn’t catch the connection, so thought the end didn’t stick the landing. Cutting off of all fingers seemed ridiculous.

In retrospect based on @RomaVicta take the ending makes absolute sense. “It’s only over if you would have died” or something like that. I’ll have to watch again.

That ain't no shit. Against my better judgement I unwisely ventured into the CR and got eaten alive for agreeing the wrong way. Lesson learned. Buncha bitches.

No you weren’t. Get over it. Your auto sports info is awesome, and I appreciate it, but don’t bring your CR insecurities to a thread about an under achieving WR.

  10. To Kill a Mockingbird when Scout says "Hey Boo" when she sees him hiding in the corner.

I was watching some shitty Texas game last year and turned it off in disgust, flipped to this movie.  My teenage son comes downstairs right at this scene and, without noticing I've changed the channel, says "Oh My God, are you crying about Texas!"

Told him to shut the fuck up and leave me alone.

  11. Anyone check out Katla? Googled and it came out as a top 10 recommendation. Dead people come back to life via a volcano, but they’re all different.

Reminded me of Dark with a splash of Stephen King.  Icelandic production.  Started slow but picked up with later episodes.

I thought it was really good. Disturbing in parts, some horror, but surprisingly existential with one story line. Ending seems like season 2 will go off the rails.

Mustang guys, where are y’all ordering parts? My stepdad has misguidedly decided to start working on a 1965 or so that he bought. (I’m sure I’ll be the one doing a lot of it, he doesn’t know anything about cars). He asked about getting some stuff when he needs it. I knew there was some love for them here but I couldn’t remember where it was mentioned.

As RMac says CJ is good but I’ve found National Parts Depot a little deeper in supply and options. But depending on the part Google it and you may find it on the more regional Mustang sites, Kentucky, Ohio come to mind.
