  1. That's just it. So many parents think that their kids won't have sex until they have married their (also virginal) partner and then will never have sex with anybody else their entire lives. And a lot of parents "just know" that their kids are 100% honest and open with them regarding sex. And maybe they are. Some are, at least. But not all. Look at the data and the prevalence of the virus. If a person has sex (iirc) with something like 3 or 4 people, the chances of getting the virus is about 100%. Or at least very high. And what about these kids whose parents don't have them get the vaccine who, for some reason lose their (virginal) partner? Death, divorce, glorious assumption, alien abduction, whatever, and then meet someone in their later years and (gasp) have sex with them? Bottom line: like brisket said it's a no-brainer. Get the vaccine (before your kids become sexually active). Inform yourself. Be smart.
  2. Damn. A Catholic priest having sex with a woman. What's the world coming to?
  3. Lol. Knowing the cost of everything and the value of nothing. For some reason that saying comes to mind with you.
  4. Some, and not just the "woke" crowd, would say that what one is really worth goes beyond financial statements. Stop channeling your inner Dotard.
  5. Wow. Just wow. Comparing a vaccine (which may prevent cancer, and thus save a life (and a lot of money)) to lifestyle choices of apparel wear and food choices. And just how does getting the HPV vaccine put one at risk? How does getting the shot affect one in the future? I can see how not getting the shot can do that, but getting the shot? I really don't see your line of thought here. And yeah, I'm also dogmatic about other aspects of taking care of your kid's health. One of my shortcomings, I guess.
  6. Sad deal all around. Just wtf was going through his head when he fired that shot?
  7. phd is really out to lunch on this one. This site will help. If he reads it. https://www.cdc.gov/std/hpv/stdfact-hpv.htm
  8. Dude, I gave you two reasons why your post was dumb and ignorant. This shot could literally prevent cancer, and possibly save a life. Yeah, you have a choice. Too bad it affects your kids.
  9. There are so many wrong (and ignorant) things about this post. 1. The kid needs to get the vaccine BEFORE they become sexually active for optimal protection. 2. The vaccine has NOTHING to do with contraception. Also, your subsequent posts aren't much better. As a parent, it's your job to protect your kid. As in, not wait for them to decide whether to get a vaccination. See #1 above to distinguish this shot from say, a measles shot
  10. Come on, dude. We need names.
  11. This may be an unpopular opinion, but the "auto-admit" crowd should not be necessarily automatically admitted into the college of engineering or business. If you're top x% of some dog-shit school and happen to have low SATs, you should not be given preference over some kid who went to a very good school (but not in top x%) who has stellar SATs.
  12. Boy, are you in for some bad news. On the plus side, I hear that the Social Work major has some openings.
  13. Depends when the kid starts banging. Seriously, read up on this shit.
  14. How in the fuck could anybody be against this? As in, not 100% for? Seriously, how?
  15. Congratulations, modern-day dipshits: you've successfully ruined a once well regarded political party and have severely dented the reputation of Christianity. No wonder the younger set hates the GOP and evangelicals. I don't blame them.
  16. The 7th Fleet does have a history of poor management and incompetence when it comes to navigation. I'll withhold judgment until I see the dash cam video....
  17. Maybe for you and your ilk. America really has gone to the shitter with this mentality. Time to move to Scandinavia.
  18. So in the words of Trump: Ohio is a shit-hole state.
  19. Yeah, I disagree. Big time.
  20. Dylan isn't the best singer, that's for sure. But his work is hardly "hippie poet nonsense".
  21. Yeah, I completely agree. Depending on your tastes, you may find it good or bad that the Beatles veered off from that basic blues influence. Lennon and Harrison were the real creatives, imo. McCartney was great but imo he didn't do it solo like Lennon did. I still remember where I was when I heard that Lennon died. Same with SRV. I sound like people who talk about Elvis, I know.
  22. Lol. And he can ball. Or, could ball.
  23. Yeah, and the work he did with Nick Lowe/Dave Edmunds/Rockpile was not bad, either. Girls Talk was a great pop song. Elvis deserves some respect, imo.
  24. I guess this is technically titled "shit you just don't get" but it also has "over-rated" in the headline. You may not "get" Prince but he sure as hell isn't over-rated. He was a modern-day Mozart. Brilliant. Writer, musician, and performer. Weird, yes. But the music that guy bestowed upon us? Priceless.
  25. I hear ya, I really do. The Beatles, like the Rolling Stones, were blues influenced but the Stones carried it off so much better. What I can give to the Beatles is that they did have an original sound. I didn't like all of it, but it was creative. Maybe it was the drugs. For them, not me.
