  1. What a dumbass. We can win 5 without even showing up. Didn't he see last year?
  2. The Big 12 should've hired me as their Commissioner years ago, and it wouldn't be in this shape now. HaHa A post of mine on the shag 7 years ago, and a sample of the responses... My post was about the time of the AT&T buyout of Direct TV, so there were some lengthy posts responses how the buyout would fix the carrier issues for the PACNET, which led to my own lengthy posts explaining why the buyout wasn't the magic wand most assumed it was. AT&T wasn't coming in to roll over, since they had all the leverage., And Scott was too arrogant to admit his master failure of a plan, needed a lifeline. He'd hadn't budged with the other National carriers, so I didn't see him doing so with his last hope either. Then after more lengthy posts breaking down the numbers if there was a deal struck between AT&T and the PAC, with the PAC getting 100% of what they wanted, even IF AT&T went beyond that and added it to their basic pack required for service, and forced all customers to have it, they would still fall way behind the others, so either way, AT&T wasn't saving them. There are a bunch of posts I made back then, and even further back to when the PAC let Texas, Texas Tech, OU and OSU slip away. But (I think) most of me going on about the PAC going to come unravelled starts around page 935 of the realignment thread, if anyone wants to verify my posts on archived web pages. I pointed out that for the PACNET to get anywhere close to the projected numbers Scott was pushing, it needed the Texas market as a bridge to the east. And not securing it was likely a fatal mistake. One person understood the $ value I pointed out, but no one understood why I thought it went way further than that. The PAC dickweeds really took offense to the notion someone called Scott either an idiot or a con. So I'll admit I had some drunken disagreements. Like this one. Most didn't understand how ESPN torpedoed the PACNET at the time of this post, or why I thought PAC whiffing on UT/OU/TT/OSU meant doom, in more ways than just market money, but a lot of people did figure it out, slowly but surely. ...like this guy most recognize. Granted, it took a couple of years, literally. And my response... Note. I consider PACs miss on UT/OU/TT/OSU a mistake, but a mistake none the less. But the biggest blunder of all realignment was the PAC telling OU/OSU to piss off. That was the golden ticket to undo their fatal mistake... Funny thing about it, Stanford was at the center of either stalling, giving ESPN the time to slide in behind them and slit their throat, and for telling OU to fuck off, without considering we would've followed them before long. The Stanford AD fucked up BIG TIME by not understanding the overall picture and killed the PAC. Just like the BIG 12 Commissioner didn't see the big picture of how far the BIG 12 was going to fall behind the BIG/SEC this new revenue contract would be an issue. The Big 12 schools might be okay with being the 3rd highest paid conference even if it is 6-8-10 million a year less, for the most part. BUT, UT and OU didn't fall in the most part group and were not going to be content with letting the revenue train leave the station without them. Third highest paid conference is not a good thing the big fish I posted this little gem 7 years ago NOTE. I didn't say the B12 and ACC would merge, I said it wouldn't surprise me if they did, because they would lose their workhorses if they didn't do something to protect themselves. B12 lost UT/OU, PAC lost USC/UCLA, and now Clemson/FSU/ect are on the clock. Stay competitive in football, or try to compete with half the others budget.
  3. I assume the ACC has to be putting feelers out. You know they have to be considering expanding to at least shore up against a possible Big or the SEC phone call. Who would the ACC look at? Would they go far west? Or would they look closer to home? On a different note, I heard an interview on Youtube. They were talking about expansion and the Big 12. It might be at this point already, but it definitely is, if the BIG 12 keeps expanding, it opens the door for ESPN to decide not to renew the TV contract, but instead want a completely new contract due to the dynamics of the Big 12 has changed so much. This in effect kills the GOR because it is tied to the existing TV contract, leaving UT and OU free as early as 23 or 24.
  4. We haven't had a decent offensive line since McCoys sophomore year. If you aren't consistently good in the trenches year in and year out, you aren't going to be good very often. Saban is a great coach by any metric. But if he had our rosters and assistant coaches we've had over the past decade +, our record would be slightly better than it was. But that is what makes him good. He built Alabama from ground up, starting with great line play and coaches who could develop players into next level talent.
  5. When has anything ever changed with aggy. They have 100+ years of being the same old aggy in more than football/sports.
  6. I think it's safe to pronounce "The Alliance" is dead. That didn't last long.
  7. This will be fun! They are both going to aggressively poach each other. Let's see. It seems like it was only yesterday Texas was the reason the Big 12 couldn't have it's own network. PAC "Guess what, here is a Chance for some lucky schools to be part of a conference network. It won't ever pay as much as the big/SEC nets, but it's still a few million more than what you are now making off your T3s." B12-2+(1+1{SCRUB})-2-2+4(SRUBS). We still have Jayhawk Basketball. PAC. "We can house 6" Big whatever we are. " We can take 4 or 40 if we go super bIG 12" PAC. " We can join Cali and Texas as home markets and make even more for all from the PACNET". iG. " We can invite the Cali schools and join Texas and Cali too for... got nothing... " PAC. "Goodluck pursuing Stanford or Cal for that matter. Keep us posted on how that goes for ya". The Big 12 schools are manning the office phones 24/7. As soon as that call comes in, those schools will throw up the finger with a " we gone, bitches". Anyone go look at any of their forums to see how the fans feel? I haven't myself.
  8. Sounds about right. Slow down recruiting so that recruiting targets and commits alike get worried no one else is coming and they all bail. aggy mentality at its finest.
  9. That would be funny. That would mean the PAC finally stood up and told Stanford to shut the fuck up and shove their holier than thou up their ass. Stanford has fucked over the PAC more than once when it comes to expansion.
  10. I don't disagree with this, but I think ND is the one who will need to do more leg work over either of those conferences chasing them hot and heavy. ND value to a 18 member conference is less than it would've been to a 10-12-14 member conference. The bigger the conference the less value, outside of a conference that consists of nothing but scrubs.
  11. I wonder if the New Big 12 Commissioner has called the 4 incoming members yet to tell them that there might be a little snag... --"see what happened was...". Unpack your bags bitches, you might be better off where you currently are over the New-New-New-New Big 12 The PAC will come hard and heavy after the BIG 12 and have room for will be coming hard and heavy after 6 B12 members. Who will they be? Does the Big 12 stand firm? This will be fun
  12. I think if it were ND or bust, they would've hit the ACC where it hurt instead of the PAC. I have a feeling ND sat on the pot too long and for time being, most have moved on. ND will always be around, but it will be up to them to find a way into one of the two big conferences instead of either of the two doing a whole lot to chase after ND. With what the SEC and B10 has in their stables as of now, it diminishes the value ND has to either somewhat.
  13. I called the PAC becoming unstable on the Shag, shortly after aggy left, Whiffing on snagging Texas as a bridge to the east was a fatal mistake that almost guaranteed the PACNET's flop. I also called AT&Ts purchase of Direct TV was not a good thing for the PAC most believed it would be. Because AT&T wasn't going to just roll over and give Scott what he wanted, instead they would was something along what the SEC/ESPN or B10/FOX arrangements or there wouldn't be a deal, and Scott was too stubborn/proud to admit his vision was a failure. (Granted, as a con, it worked beautifully). I only point out the failure to reach a deal with AT&T, broke the PACs back. And once the ACCs deal with ESPN put them ahead of the PAC by even a slight margin, UCLA and USC would be poachable. And that the BIG 12 needed to be on the phone daily back then working its ass off, because without some additions over G5s, the BIG 12 was doomed because Texas and OU wouldn't stick around and fall tens of millions yearly behind the SEC or the B10 either... I also said that I think the Big 12 made a huge mistake by panicking and adding the teams they did. Because no matter what was coming out of the B10, they were going to counter the SEC/UT+OU by poaching the PAC, so if the BIG 12 had held off a bit, I had a feeling they would've been in the perfect position to pick up some quality teams to replace their losses. BOOM!!! I nailed this one years before anyone else was talking about it even being possible. LOL
  14. Rule #1. Never slide head first at another players feet, especially if they have the ball. Rule #2. If you are going to crowd the goalie for a header on a corner kick, expect at least 3 other defenders getting ready to slam you. So lead in with one knee up, to keep separation from the goalie, and both elbows straight out at shoulder hight then crank them around as you are about to make contact (try to) with the ball. Keeps the defenders more docile, especially the one getting ready to headbutt you in the back of the head. Rule #3. If you are taken down hard more than once, try to plant a knee, elbow, hand or foot on the opponents face (preferably) as you go down. That gets your point across that you know how to play the game also. (Just make it look accidental). Some players back off, many get pissed off. Either way you win. If they get mad, your in their head and typically they earn themselves a yellow card or even a trip to the bench, if not, they become too aggressive and start looking for ways to slam into you, which means they are watching you and not the ball so if you have any skill whatsoever, you can make a mockery out of them to the point of them getting pulled by their coach or the ref sending them to the showers... Rule #4. If your coach hasn't taught you these simple fundamentals of the sport, you are playing for the wrong coach.
  15. There is a lot of incomplete picture ness or just wrong with what you wrote that I'm not going to both breaking it down point by point. But a few early scrub camps is not Ewers level of development... Issues with accuracy at times are a product multiple things like a shitty coaching staff that don't teach wrs run consistent routes so timing routes become a coin toss. It is also the lack of learning to read a defense properly, which leads to times of confusion... And then there were the games he was banged up which causes throwing issues... As for accuracy, there is a reason he placed quite a bit higher than Ewers at the Elite 11. Working with wrs that ran correct routes, he hit the throws more consistently and accurately than Ewers. That is what happens when coaches. But I didn't bring up accuracy. I said arm strength and touch. Maalik's touch is a lot like Aikman's was in the day. Ewers places the ball effortlessly in the perfect spot consistently, but it doesn't always have the right touch where it drops perfectly in the basket. Colt had that touch on short and medium throws. Everyone had Maalik listed as a project due to lack of development. Accuracy wasn't an area of concern. Now the way Ewers handles pressure, or steps up in the pocket, or steps into his throw knowing he is about to be leveled. Is about as Aikman as Aikman himself.
  16. Yes, but if they both had been in the same class as they were supposed to be, and Maalik had the same development Ewers did, it's more than likely they would've been ranked #1 and 2 in the class with the different groups divided between the order of the two, leaving neither player with the unanimous overall #1 tank needed to score the perfect 1.000.
  17. Maalik's arm might actually be a hair stronger than Ewers. Now his touch on the ball is better. He is capable of making all the same throws with a better delivery. He placed higher than Ewers at the Elite 11 and was the one player that had the coaching staff buzzing. The only thing missing 8s his development... And that is only because he didn't go to one of California's football factories. It wasn't from the lack of those coaches or media trying to convince him to transfer into their districts, but he refused to abandon his teammates. They weren't really considered championship contenders, but he carried them to one. It would've been interesting to see who would've been the top prospect between him and Ewers if Maalik was every bit as polished as Ewers. I doubt either would've gotten the 1.000 rating. Nice thing about having him is that he is hungry to learn and according to those who have worked with him, he is extremely coachable. Bright kid, hard worker, good personality that tends to mesh well with anyone's and everyone's. A natural leader, who does it by example that others follow, mainly because they find him so likeable. ~different coaches~ As long as his development isn't neglected, he has all the tools to step in after Ewers 2 here and us not miss a beat (if we whiff on Arch). And he hurdles a dude (an upright, would be tackler) during their State Championship game.
  18. Not by the QBs
  19. It will be funny when the Big 12 expands to 14, then to 16, and the original remaining members lose all control of the conference to a bunch of minor leaguers who are there for the coattails.
  20. Once they all got a wider exposure to Texas A&M "Aggies" they all started shying away from the aggy part of their long standing school namesake
  21. If he'd paid any attention to the OUsucks forums, he would've known the (majority of the) fans have been very vocal about getting out for years now. That in itself should've been somewhat of a flag.
  22. Speaking of coaches... If we have any team (especially OU) doing a head stand in a porta-potty and there is even a hint of letting them come up for air before the end of the fourth, a coach or two needs to be canned on the 50 immediately.
  23. Half the Big 12 either has new coaching staffs or are starting at bare cupboards... Texas is running the same scheme ( not real sure it's a good thing yet) on both sides of the ball, two year in a row. That hasn't happened for most of the players on the team. That has to help...
  24. It doesn't belong in the "Hall", but when has that ever been something aggy concerned itself with? In fact, give 'em 20 -25 years and they'll have found a way to stick it on the wall as their first *one of many* Jimbo almost Nattys.
  25. I keep hearing the 995s saying that as well.... But I also hear that Ewers has been hitting 75% of his passes since day 1. And from what little I've seen, he's hitting the reciever's in stride a lot more than Card does. Now Card is ahead of Ewers at this time, but that is only because of experience in this system. I have a feeling we will see different as early as the spring game.
