So next year you guys won't have a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round pick next year.  Hope Dallas works out for you guys.

Need to shoot to be the 24th best team in the league then.

  2. I wonder if the vest is cursing under his breath? 12 of first picks are on offense. Decent-ish chance their top corner, Dallas Turner or Murphy drops to 23.

Desmond Howard picked JJ McCarthy as the most NFL ready player in the draft and also as rookie of the year. Homer idiot.

Herbie had AD as ROTY fwiw (not much).

Just when I thought I couldn’t take any more Kurt Warner, I saw this post.

  5. I’m pretty new to the tortas game. What are some good spots?

Staggered over to Tacos El Bigotes yesterday.  Got three quesabirria and a trompo all the way.   Very tasty.   It was very crowded.  The guy making the birria tacos was pumping them out quick.  The corn tortilla could have been crisper and the cheese spilling out at the edges needed to be carmelized a bit more.  Maybe at a slower hour  the tacos could have had  a chance to set up right.   Anyhow, it was good.

How’s the al pastor? Probably my favorite taco.

This is nuts. ESPN just said the first 6 picks could be QBs. Every team is chasing the Texans model of drafting a QB resulting in overnight success.

Somewhat agree. Nix is first round reach and the only system he could plausibly succeed in Sean Payton’s offense. The Broncos mortgaging th farm to move up for Nix would be high comedy.

The Patriots drafting JJ at 3 and repeating the Mac Jones mistake would be awesome. I’m here for it.

I think Penix will be good. I know multiple knee surgeries, but the bionic man Taysom Hill is still in the league.

FWIW, according to the value chart our 3rd rounder would be able to upgrade our higher 2nd round pick to #29 (Detroit). Both of our 2nd round picks would get us to #22 (Philadelphia). If somehow Byron Murphy slid to the latter position I would be all over that but (a) I’m biased and (b) he isn’t going to slide to 22…

If it takes 42 and the 3rd to move into the 20’s to take a falling star, sure do it.

I didn’t love moving back. 6 QBs could go before pick 23. Probably at least 3 if not 4 WRs will be gone. That’s 10 picks on positions the Texans don’t need. That’s a damn good pool of 13 prospects. There should be some really good corners and DL that fall.  They really need the 2025 pick to be in the 30’s to get value back.

Yep. Good to see back on the shelf again in Texas and at close to the same price.

OTH I’m seeing Henry McKenna 10yr for north of $60. Pass.

Yeah McKenna is better, but it’s not $25 better.

i think it speaks more to how rushed of an ending the book was.  i didn't like the book ending.

another difference between the book and this show is yabu's character.  i remember him being more sinister in the book but the way he was played here makes him a lovable goofball with an unfortunate bent toward self preservation in a culture that expects loyalty to the point of death.  i think i like this portrayal more- he's almost a touchstone to modern sensibilities.

Full agreement on the book ending and how it influenced the show.

Shit, the battle between Toranaga and Ishido is a footnote in the novel.

As an illiterate, not being true to the book is a feature not a bug. Hearing “according to the book” - who gives a shit?

Regarding Lynch’s version, his casting decisions were phenomenal. As besotted as I am with Florence Pugh, Virginia Madsen was smoke. Wow, whoa what a beautiful woman!

Sean Young and Francesca Annis were striking. Hell, might as well add Sting to the list.

Alicia Witt as Alia was extremely creepy. A toddler whacking their grandfather is some dark shit.
