welp; the day has arrived. we either knock out one of the main threats to winning this entire thing, or we bow out disgracefully after having completely furked the first leg of this tie. it should be 2-0 or 3-0 heading into today, but it's not. because of our own blunders it is 1-1, which has me 100% prepared for a 3-1 type of loss. teams who screw the pooch the way we did seldom get rewarded, and i expect today to be our last match in the competition for some time.

Yep.  Arteta called tonight a "final." He's probably right.  We're 6 off 7th (and Everton have a match in-hand), and I'm not even bothering to consider 4th.  Should be well ahead but...Arsenal. That said...COYG!  Get it done.

I wish I had shut things down Sat or Sun and drained the pumps, but when I got up Monday morning and it was all frozen over, it was just too cold and windy to go out there and do it.  Hands were too cold in seconds.  Next time this kind of forecast comes up I'm winterizing.  Another 70 years?  Now I'm afraid to sleep in case the power goes out.  Pumps are still running right now, fingers crossed.

Yep, I’m right there with you on both counts.  Should have drained Sunday night instead of relying on freeze guard. I’ll kick myself about that for years. Went to work like a dumbass on Monday, left @ noon, and it was too late when I got home to pull the plugs. I’ll never make that again. Wife’s cousin in Celina never lost power and her pool’s just fine. Urgh.

Allstate agent did say they would “probably” cover it under the plumbing section of my homeowners, but I’m skeptical.

  3. Gas and electric are rotating outages in McKinney.  Of course, not coordinated, so the gas is on when the electric is off (and vice versa), which makes heating less than ideal.  House at 54 degrees.  Wife as family in Celina that haven't any power or gas loss.  Her and my daughter may head that way if this continues.

If I want to add more liquid could I use chicken or beef stock?  Any preference.

I always reserve some of the chile-steeping water and use some of that if/when the liquid runs low.

I'll also add some chicken stock-- IMO beef stock on top of beef meat sometimes gets a little overpowering and muddles the flavor a bit.

And, you can always add beer.

What he said.  Reserve seeping water>chicken stock>beef stock.

  5. So I've been working through Clone Wars and Rebels and finished last night.  I'll go ahead and insert the obligatory gif below:

Filoni needs the "Feige Role" within LucasFilm. Both are some of the best Star Wars content of the past 41 years and, while differing in tone, great in their own way.  The last four episodes of Clone Wars, if cut into a 2hr film, would immediately vault into my top three (right after ESB and ANH).

I have a bit of sadness now; I didn't want them to end.  Onto S2 The Mandalorian and then wait for Bad Batch to get my SW fix.

  6. Didn't see it mentioned here, but the FIA and the 10 teams agreed on the engine freeze beginning in 2022 until 2025. Question for the more knowledgeable here:  Why would Ferrari, who rolled out a tractor engine last year and don't really know how their 2021 engine will perform, agree to this? I get why RBR (don't want/can't afford to be a works engine manufacturer) and Merc (most dominant engine on the grid) would support this, but Ferrari? If their '21 engine perform as they hope, won't this lock them in with a dud for '22-25 seasons?
