I've always been nothing but disrespectful to Les and his partner but damn if he isn't earning my respect with what he's doing at Kansas
Les can coach. He has a ring. But he makes Charlie Strong look like Einstein with his 2 minute clock decisions.

How many of you didn't know Texas would win when KU left Sam 1:11?
I was nervous when they had the ball down 7. But they scored too soon.
But yes, the defense looks awful.

Why was the offense so lackadaisical? One would think they would play more fired up, like they did last year.
Maybe the 1100am start time or something, but jeez, this is your biggest rival.you shouldn’t have to be prodded into a fight.
Rojo should have had more touches particularly in the second half when we were driving and had to settle for 3, I don’t think he got a single carry on that drive.
Its hard to tell sometimes why one team wants it more. But I think OU definitely did today. We seemed tentative, especially on defense. Maybe they let OU's speed get in their heads.

Sam held the ball far too long today. And OU’s DBs held our receivers every play, not that it had anything to do with them reading our screens. We didn’t make any obvious adjustments at halftime.
Well we scored 24 in the 2nd vs. 3 in the first. We were a lot more successful. We maybe should have called some plays in the middle where the holding is obvious.

It’s almost like that can be coached to not happen
Well in fairness to the coaches, I saw the upman tell Duvernay to go down one time and he still ran it out. Don't remember if he managed to get to the 20 or if that was the time he only got to the 12.

9 sacks tho...
thats nuts..
sup with them 0 or negative yard play stats.. something seems fishy.
That's on either the QB, the receivers or the coaches with their play calls. Erhlinger had sufficient time. He held it too long too often.

Fortunately with this clown conference, this game doesn’t matter anymore. Maybe our O line’s nuts will drop by December.
Ehrlinger almost always had time to pass. He didn't have all day, but he had enough. He needed to find some short routes to get rid of it without holding it forever.

All we need to do is fair catch the ball. that is it. we do need a better punter. his leg sucks, we never get a field flip punt.
The punter did fine. Duvernay cost us 10-20 yards on every kickoff by trying to run it out of the endzone or fumbling a fair catch (not sure that was Duvernay). Or we don't fair catch at the 20 and let it roll to the 5. Stupidity by our kick returners cost us close to 100 yards and put the offense or defense in a bind every time.
Two really basic things. Stay on your feet while tackling-and know when and how to fair catch. In a 7 point game not much needs to be changed.

OU defense won the game today... man... just uncomfortable even saying it
And our defense lost it.
Just no fundamentals on tackling. They kept leaving their feet while trying to tackle and didn't have the force to bring them down and then got left behind.
And then they all sit around when Lamb is running downfield. No aggressiveness. On that last TD, #5 just stood and watched while Lamb slipped out of the tackle and didn't move until Lamb broke free. One the one before, 3 guys were playing "contain" to the left so Lamb broke a tackle (from the guy who at least hustled downfield after blowing coverage) and ran to the right around the one guy who was sitting back and watching on the right.

That shit happens to everyone that has a thin roster. It doesn’t happen to teams that are super talented everywhere and have depth. Those teams have off games but still win. Hopefully Ok State game was an example of us getting to that point.SMU was without his QB. And I think it was right after a deflating loss (not 100% sure about that). The game wasn't as bad as the score. They went for it on 4th down in their own territory a couple times late in 4th and gave up a late TD or two. They had to take those gambles for any hope to win.

I just can't figure out how Texas doesn't win this convincingly... (and reason I cannot place a bet on them.. when can't tell... I trust Vegas)
Texas should be able to shut down a weak WV rushing attack. I'll take my changes with Orlando getting to the QB early and often. Defense should be good for points or a couple turnovers. Offense should be able to run or pass on WV. Assuming (big ass assume) we either don't field punts or actually catch them I don't see how Texas doesn't run away with this one. This should be a good game for the Defense to really shine.
WVU is almost always tough at home.

Can he draw deflated dicks? Cuz that’s what just happened to me after reading your post.
Regardless of that, do you think we could discuss McWilliams? I don’t think I hate him, but he “ruined” 3 years of my life too. I also have the distinction of saying “he’s worthless and needs to be fired” while his son was standing right behind me at lunch. I felt bad and apparently so should you.
Charlie Strong was over his head even more than McWilliams.

I had significant concerns after that game. 3-38 in the next game confirmed it for me.
I had significant concerns when I saw who he hired as assistant coaches. With a Texas budget, that was who he hired?
I knew he was worthless two games in when this defensive genius had players looking like Manny Diaz was still coaching. Greg Robinson only took about 6 quarters to fix that. Charlie undid what Greg fixed overnight.

Um, NO one tried to sabotage the program like that fucking clown Brown did. He owns that title. End of story.
Move on.
Never heard any of the stories of DKR's friends telling players not to come to Texas? DKR didn't do it directly but did nothing to stop it.

My grandfather played for Ed Price (which is the only reason I know this) but while he had a bad end to his short tenure, he still managed a pair of conference titles, finished in the top 10 twice and won a Cotton Bowl over Tennessee; so in no way was he worse than Strong.
I’m guessing you meant Jack Chevigny, but even he had a better records than Strong.
And he beat Notre Dame and died at Iwo Jima. He's a Texas legend regardless of his coaching record. Charlie Strong only did 1 of 2.

There’s a lot of vitriol for Mack here, and he won a national championship and almost another one.
Its called cognitive dissonance. Its why some people against all logic try to convince others that Charlie Strong was anything other than a disaster at Texas. They have to justify in their mind that nobody could be worse than the hated Mack Brown.

I would have kicked but I cannot fault him for being aggressive. I wouldn't have had that kind of confidence in my offense after what they had done today.
Same. On the other hand, I don't know that I would have had confidence their offense could move it 25 yards in OT.

For them coughing up the ball twice the last two minutes of the game?
And 6 times in the game.
And for having Mike Leach as a head coach?

yea he is the greatest coach that has never won anything of consequence
his teams are horribly disciplined and he still does the same stupid shit after 20 years.....and good coaches do not come out and loser to D1-AA teams two years in a row to start the season
disagree all you want, but there was a lot of shitty football played by both teams tonight that would have cost them the game against even half ass teams
Houston's D line got manhandled. That is basically what happened tonight. No pressure on a good QB and he will pick you apart.
What was puzzling tonight was I no longer have any clue what roughing the QB is or targeting. WSU did 3 helmet to helmet hits using the crown, including the one reviewed on the QB. UH and WSU both got roughing the passer for far lighter hits than the one to King that got reviewed. Must have been a Pac 12 crew.

not with the portal. they will have to come up snake eyes with the rent a QB or have an injury.
All the high level QB's out of HS are going to basically have a list of 5 or so schools to go to, pick one and then keep the other schools warm while they are trying to win the job where they are.
Georgia has 3 recruits starting at ranked teams. One at Georgia, one at Ohio St., one at Washington.

Return game is beyond pathetic.
But Orlando had a really good defense last year. We all knew he had no depth this year and no game changing defensive lineman. The entire secondary which was already inexperienced is injured. But he does need to teach them how to tackle. They keep getting off their feet and losing leverage. Just basic stuff. The type of stupid stuff you saw with Manny Diaz.
