  1. Nahlin, on Ewers, in today's stream : "There was no concerns about it...He's fine...Any time he is held out is simply precautionary...that held true...on checking with people the following day on Sunday...sounds like he could play this week if he needed to...I don't think you're gonna see him....the week-to-week characterization is accurate...I think he is gonna play vs Mississippi State but not a ton, they're not very good"
  2. You can bet your bottom dollar that they will jack each other off this week to the extent that they will start anointing Reed as a Heisman candidate and prognosticating the return of the wrecking crew. All based on a janky ass win against a team that has given up on their coaching staff and the said coach is going to get the heave-ho any moment now. This kind of astounding lack of self-awareness is seen only in religious and political fanatics.
  3. Seems like The Elk's belly must have grazed the Tarp in wrong way. In my 15+ year following this shit more closely than I care to admit, I have not seen a 9.95er propagandist give up on a coach two games into his tenure.
  4. This meltdown is positively funny. Rant starts from around 7:40.
  5. @closetojumping better watch out in Ann Arbor this weekend. His buddy EJ has taken up boxing it seems.
  6. Finished The Emerald Mile by Kevin Fedarko recently. This book immediately became one of my all time favorites. Right up there with Into Thin Air and Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. The cover says that it is about "The Epic Story of the Fastest Ride in History Through the Heart of the Grand Canyon". Correct. The story and characters in this book are absolutely epic. Is there anything more epic than the setting? The Grand Canyon and the Colorado river with historically high flows and the nuts who decide to set a speed record in a tiny wooden dory. However, this book is so much more than that. It is also about the history of the Colorado's exploration, the conservation movement, the Glen Canyon Dam, the subculture of the river guides, how rapids are formed and run, the mega flood of 1983 and how the Glen Canyon Dam almost failed. This is a must read if you love adventure and narrative non-fiction or if you are mildly obsessed with the Grand Canyon (like I am), National Parks or Natural History. Once I started, it was very difficult to put his one down.
  7. Yeah, looking forward to the movie. I really enjoyed Conroy's writing style and therefore researched his other books. The plots/stories themselves did not seem compelling to me from the reviews/blurbs but may ultimately read something just because on how much I enjoyed his writing style in PoT.
  8. Finished Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy recently. Not the kind of book I read usually. This was published in 1983 I think, so before I was born. Had to keep reminding myself that a lot of what we accept as socially "normal" today was once considered radically progressive. Conroy has the rare ability to bring alive scenes, scenery and characters. Apparently a movie was made out of it which was nominated for 7 oscars. Will definitely check it out. Would recommend if you love gritty family dramas with hard hitting story-lines and great writing. Could have been about 10% shorter but that is just me. This book should be known more widely, imo. And oh yeah..there is that scene (iykyk, wont spoil it for you guys, but you've been warned)
  9. What?!!! NYT indulging in sketchy journalism by taking random data points to spin a narrative? I would have never guessed! Look how the smug reporter implies that Texas recruited OL Class only because of $50K per year. Flood handled it well, imo.
  10. No4 would be an ideal replacement for X-Worth.
  11. The Other SEC Team in the College Football Playoff: Texas The Longhorns won’t officially become members of the Southeastern Conference until July, but they already look like one of the powerhouse teams from college football’s mightiest league https://www.wsj.com/sports/football/texas-longhorns-college-football-playoff-a5dab99c?mod=hp_featst_pos3
  12. Replacement for Dom Mckinley. What a downgrade.
  13. We're on commitment watch but Golden didn't make the visit. So the secret visitor is the commit or was there someone else visiting as well?
  14. Hey guys wanna hear something about Texas recruiting? Jeff Howe and Perroni went behind people's backs to make Deshon Elliott a 4* in their database after the rankings came out and pissed off Barton Simmons who sent him angry texts. My respect for J Howe and Perroni went up a bit.
