Be sure to have your trigger finger ready to post a screed on why The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles are just terrible, humorless movies.

I saw each once when I was little. I remember naked females in Sixteen Candles and some quotes from both, that's it. I have a buddy who is obsessed with all of those movies, but they didn't get hooks into me. Seem like good stuff for folks of a certain age though.

I think an Aggie source that @closetojumping quoted stated that his ankle is still healing which was raising questions about who might start. In fact, as I think about it, I believe it was the head coach himself who said this. Further, medical professionals on this board described how serious the injury and that you don't know if it will heal all the way until it actually does.

I'm not saying Weigman's prospects are dire, but I don't believe they're as assured as you write.

Based on what they're reporting from post practice interviews with The Elk, this is correct. Apparently he cannot go full speed all of the time and he hasn't separated from the other guys who are able to go full throttle. I viewed it as The Elk trying to prod Weigman out of his perceived goldbricking.

I was trying to make a joke about their small portions and high prices.

Then my joke is that I don't think you've eaten at either place with that take or you are a gigantic tub of goo with a shadow that weighs forty-two pounds. Both places put out tacos that are trend from normal to extra large in terms of portions.

  4. About every 12 months, I’ll be hungry and looking around and see a Velvet Taco near where I work. “I haven’t had that in a while. Why don’t I go there more often?”

45 minutes later as I’m walking out: “I’m never eating that fucked up shit again.”

    I don’t ever even ponder entering a Torchy’s.

I like Velvet Taco better, but they’re both snacks. Too small to be a meal unless you order 5 a la carte tacos at $5.50 each.

Are you a competitive eater or something? If 5 tacos from either place is how you qualify a meal, you’re either that or posting 4+bills and need two chairs for your seating.

There is zero chance Canham leaves.

    Dumb take.

I will never root for this program again if Vitello is the coach.

    I don’t know how we’d manage.

I assume Canham isn’t the first choice.  That said, Beau Vine wants everyone to know his pursuit is fruitless, guys. No way. Canham cannot be money whipped into a conference with a pulse. Not happening.

GTFO and leave the naïveté to new visitors, dipshit.

Tulo would be a worse hire than the feel good story of Rodney Terry.

Vaughn at Bama would be a super good recruiter and is a good coach. Canham and Bakich are great too.

I hate the guy but Vitello is a hell of a recruiter but again fuck that guy.

The problem with going after SEC guys is that the financial situation for those schools isn't the same as it is for Oregon State or the ACC schools or freaking ECU. I think Canham and Godwin played at the schools they're currently coaching, but that can still be overcome. Hell, Jonathan Smith is coaching at Michigan State right now because Oregon State is permafucked in the go-forward for major athletic programs. Canham might make the most sense, but I think Bakich could win big at Texas.

Hats off to the kids working overtime while dad doesn't want to go to homes.

It's kind of unbelievable how predictably all of this is unfolding. Deion's arrogance in the notion that he's some sort of magnetic force that will simply attract the best and the brightest due to that was only reinforced by the start early last season and all of the adoration.

That didn't translate at all in recruiting, it's starting to seriously lose its luster with the current roster, and the transfer portal this cycle is shit for them. It may turn out that the HC of a program actually has to, you know, put the work in on recruiting, player relationship management, and portal recruiting. That would blow a lot of minds, not the least of which will be Deion's. Then he'll just blame a bunch of other people and mysterious forces working against him and fuck off elsewhere eventually.

This CU 2024, short of a number of portal hail mary completions, is 2-10/3-9 at best and the roster is all his (un)doing.

Williams, the LB/pass rusher from Lindale is the one I think might have been a NFL All Pro had he kept his head on straight.  He was basically a Von Miller clone.  My recollection is he got upset about a girl and just quit going to class and team functions.

Andre Jones is probably a multiple year NFL guy and productive citizen had he not been corrupted by Robert Joseph.

McCullough was like already 21 or something when he got on campus.  Think he just was not very academically gifted, to say the least.  But he could have been an All American.

Timmons had a very tough upbringing.

That's right on McCullough. I think Turner was the 0.0 guy. Aaron Ross is the mirror image to EM. The NCAA really tried to fuck him on technicalities. Glad he and Texas stuck with it, as he became a longhorn great. Hopefully his kids are as amazing as their bloodline and come play at Texas in whatever sports they're excelling.

    This fucking thread, man

Either go away for a while until the dust has settled or buckle up.

I don't think talking about decade+ old recruits and failures is the same as lamenting old losses and stuff. Part of why most of us follow recruiting is that the talent acquisition side of things involves character evaluations and the aftermath reviews of those are interesting.

    I'm curious about this too.

Should be obvious, guys. They promoted several folks and expanded their roles, not the least of whom is Brandon Harris. Sarkisian handled the whole thing in ways that smack of overconfidence in the wrong people on that end. Let's all see how it sorts itself out, but there is real risk on some significant fuck ups that can only be classified as unforced errors.

Still hopeful that Zeynalova can play postseason

There's video of her doing cardio on the Instagram page and she's been in the prelim singles lineup for the latest matches only to get switched out after the doubles point (which Texas wins most of the time)

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but where do you guys that follow tennis closely see the Texas women's team landing this year? Are they a national title contender? Or more like a sweet 16 kind of team? I know it was up and down for a while but for those who get to see a lot of tennis, where are they now after stringing wins together and getting healthy-ish?

He turned down USC because that job isn't what it once was, and they are stuck in the Stone Age in several areas, including facilities.

Tulo has told people he wants to be a college head coach. Based on my understanding, even in the "year off" he took last year, he was still around the program and coming up to the Disch to help out. I'm sure part of the thinking for re-joining the staff this year was to make sure he stayed involved and around the game in an official capacity as he looked for his next opportunity.

Tulowitzki over Canham, Bakich, Godwin or Walter would be a legendary fuck up. All 4 of those coaches are at programs that cannot counter a serious Texas offer to the HC. Nitpick any one of those guys, fine, but the holes in Tulo's resume are gaping.

I'd happily sacrifice everyone on this thread to the baseball gods with only the use of my bare hands and a plastic spork for Texas to go out and get Bakich.

Didn’t Pickryl have a disintegrating shoulder which helped sideline his football career? Now he’s a successful hospital admin. The other kid from Oklahoma selling drugs was a washout, don’t recall if that was the end of Mack or Charlie era. Edited to clarify Leitao was early Mensa.

The biggest contributor from Oklahoma from the Mack era through Herman's tenure was probably Adam Doiron. He's from Nacogdoches but grew up in Oklahoma. He was a contributor at Texas on the DL and was a nonsense guy in the locker room. Not sure if I am missing anyone else. We could argue that Thompson, for Sarkisian, played a bigger role. Feel like I'm forgetting someone.

And, of course, the big one that Texas missed on, Wes Sims, who led to one of funniest things I've ever seen in my time online following the horns.
