  1. That and the key on the defensive end is Mitchell is athletic enough to cover a small 3.
  2. I'm somewhat convinced this team can be a good defensive team if they simply don't play Horton.
  3. Thing is I think it's somewhat sustainable. It's amazing what happens when Horton's lack of defense is just sitting on the bench and not hurting the team.
  4. Texas found something with this big lineup. Just so much more length and completely disrupting UNC Greensboro on the defensive end.
  5. Amazing what happens when our guards prevent dribble penetration. This is the best they've defended all year.
  6. I hope this game is a lesson for Abmas. He's not doing much offensively but he's giving great effort defensively. You can win playing this way. Scoring 20 with zero defense doesn't do anything for you.
  7. I hate to be that guy but UNC Greensboro's run also started right when Horton came into the game. He got the hook after a few minutes. It was also the Horton and Abmas combo again that ignited the run. RT has to stop playing these two together.
  8. It makes a little sense. This big lineup (Disu, Shedrick, and Mitchell) has only played probably 5 minutes together all season. Trying to figure out spacing against the zone.
  9. We only gave up 1 open 3 and 1 mid range jumper that half. Everything else was contested. We need more of that defensive effort.
  10. Overall good half defensively. Offensive issues when they went zone for a few minutes but the defense was much better. The length with the big lineup (Mitchell, Disu, and Shedrick) gave us more length on the perimeter and inside. Maybe that's what we need.
  11. Anybody have what Jason Scheer (Arizon mod) is saying in this thread about Nansen? https://247sports.com/college/arizona/board/102371/Contents/nansen-texas-224141048/?page=2
  12. Nah, aggy didn't have a ST coach but this was always a dumb narrative. They had an "analyst" or whatever running special teams and as mentioned above their ST units were good outside of this past season under Jimbo. aggy is only running with this narrative of "huge ST improvement" to make themselves feel better about Elko.
  13. It was a down year for aggy with their ST but this was always a weird criticism. Outside of this year, aggys special teams were good. ESPN efficiency rankings for their special teams prior to this year were #3, #28, #30, #11, #31 under Jimbo. This is just one of these make believe narratives coming from aggy to make themselves feel better about Elko.
  14. I think something we undervalued with Sark (myself included) is his rolodex of assistants. When you compare the type of assistants he knows/from his coaching tree it's night and day when you compare it with somebody like Elko.
  15. As expected, one of these schools was definitely tampering with him.
  16. And Choate is now a D1 head coach. That's why the "career advancement" argument is sometimes a wash. Prove you can recruit/develop at a school like Texas and it's just as likely to get you a head coaching gig as a DC job at tier 2 or tier 3 school.
  17. It actually happens quite a bit. Matter of fact, Willie Simmons (head coach of Florida A&M) is probably going to be the next RB coach at Duke. Mainly because of his connection to Diaz. Saban has done this a few times too.
  18. Nansen was a top 5 recruiter at a school like USC. He's worth some major money if that's what it takes to get him as a position coach.
  19. Maybe but if you can get Nansen as a position coach it's probably too much to pass up. He's an insanely good recruiter. Go see USC's 2018 LB recruiting class.
  20. Money whipping a DC to be a position coach is the type shit I'm here for.
  21. With how badly aggy needs corners, I would not be shocked if they tampered here. It will be interesting to see who else is involved.
