I know this point been beaten to death on here but it's still impressive how much of a dipshit Ketch can be. I tried listening to him talk about the average star rating between classes and he doesn't seem to understand how numbers work.

Absolute dipshit.  But filthy rich because all the other dips hits give him 9.95 per month

AND win National Championships.  We should go into every season with a team expected to compete for a NC.  Anything less is bullshit and not acceptable.

    Yea I’m talking bare minimum

I have no doubt that Tom has a very high IQ and is a capable football coach when it comes to X’s And O’s.

But.... he reminds me of the killer, rain-maker sales guy that is arrogant, eccentric and a loose cannon.  He does what he does very well but outside of that small box he’s difficult to be around and alienates a lot of people who work with him.

You can’t always take the top sales guy and make him the Sales Manager and I think that’s what’s been done here.

I’m in sales.  Yea.   Pretty much

That's how my feelings are too.  I want the football team to be fantastic and beat then shit out of OU twice a year.  But if he doesn't, he can get fucked.  It's put up or shut up time.

I like that and I am aligned.  Win the conference.  Beat the crap out of ou.  That should be our expectation.  We haven’t come close too many years this century

that's what makes it so frustrating-- I don't really want to accept Herman's as bad as his record indicates. I really wanted to believe in the guy. But three years in, too many of the "if we could flip three plays" scenarios are us coming up short. The preponderance of evidence, so to speak-- the guy's not going to get it done here. We're stuck wasting our time until he's fired and we start over, again.

I was super bullish especially coming off of the mess Charlie was.   Tom seemed super organized and thought outside of the box.  The opposite of Charlie.   I do think he’s a sharp guy and think he does deserve uear four

You could do the same thing with 2018 though and we'd have been sitting at 7 or 8 wins.

Yep.  And we probably pulled a couple out his first year that could’ve gone the other way.  Hence you are your record and none of the years have been good enough.  I’ll give just about any coach a mulligan for year 1 and we were better year 2.   Year 3 was crap and that’s why he’s close to being fired right?

We had a 21-point lead in the 4th quarter. They weren't that much more talented.

Yes and we held on.  They had an nfl offensive line, the ewok at what, lamb, Hollywood, brooks etc.  how many of our offensive guys start on that team?

now we can attribute a lot of that to Lincoln and stoops being better than our coaches and it’s toms job to get us past that level.

I don't think it's "holding it against us" so much as pointing out how close we came to Herman being fired after this past season. If he hadn't beaten OU in 2018, I'm not sure we would have gone to the stupid conference championship game or the Sugar Bowl. You take the OU and Sugar Bowl wins off the table, what the fuck has he (would he have) accomplished?

Totally and likeParcells has said you are what your record is.  But The flip side would be if we could flip three plays his first year, we are likely 10-3

The W/L record is the bottom line, I get that. And in a vacuum, 7-5 in Y3, in and of itself, is not evidence that a coach will never get it done. Context is obviously important.

So here's the context with Herman:

    1) He seems to have poor coaching instincts. He passes up FGs early in games when he shouldn't and kicks when he should go for it. He gets way too conservative way too early in games.

    2) He is very slow to fix things. Look at the defense this season. Look at special teams play since he's been here. Look at the problems with that douchebag WR coach that he allowed to fester. Look at the playcalling that was so predictable the opposing defenses were calling the plays on the field.

    3) He acts like a jackass. This is fine if he's winning a lot. But the Mizzou QB mocking, the head butt, the radio call from his UH days, Casey Horny...he just seems unprofessional, thin-skinned and corny.

2018 was a good season, but they still lost 4 games. During the entire last decade we never had a single season with as many as 4 losses. So it was a pretty good year, but diminished by the Maryland fiasco, the breakdown against WVU, etc...and holding on for dear life against Baylor and Kansas and OU.

So yeah...7-6, 10-4, 7-5 isn't grounds for firing per se...but when you add in all the other indicators, it seems extraordinarily unlikely that Tom Herman will ever win with the consistency of, say, a Mack Brown (much less Dabo).

Look, the best-case scenario is that Herman grows the fuck up, starts running his program like an adult with a plan, and sharpens his game management and preparation with the additional experience he's accumulated. This would be great. But if I had to bet, I'd bet that it won't happen, and that his long-term success will be limited.

Not sure how we can hold hanging on for dear life vs ou against us.  They had more talent.    A holding call kept that from being a 24 point win.  And don’t hold Baylor against us.  They have Matt ruhle.   Is Tom a jackass.  Yes.

He won 10 games, beat OU at the cotton bowl, secured his 2nd top 5 recruiting class and comfortably beat the 2nd greatest SEC team that year.  Who cares how detestable he is, he had the program headed in the right direction (narrator: he didn’t).

    Beat FSU too

If Herman is such a detestable meathead, which by the way many thought was possible when he was hired, how in the hell does CDC extend him last year? Surely he had to have seen problems then.

He looked like a winner.  We were trending up. All of our losses were close.   Most of us agreed with us

Neal Brown is a meathead's meathead.  He tried to kick a field goal on 4th and 2 from the 35 while down 3 to Baylor with 3 minutes left, with a white-faced kicker who had somewhere between 0 and 1 all-time college kicks.  He then proceeded to allow a delay of game, and thought the best course of action to maximize his chances of winning (on the road) would be to try a longer kick with that dude again.

You mean he could’ve shut all the Matt ruhle and baylor shit up?

Goddamn the Horns247 posters are retards. Apparently Jase McClellan isn’t signing with OU and they are asking if Texas has a chance (with no OC). He’s Bama bound.

Don’t go to ob.  Those guys are real rahtards

Dont forget that TECHNICALLY, we also haven't formally announced a Defensive Coordinator either. Probably because we'd be embarrassed and more kids might bail, maybe.

Given the backlash I wonder if Mensa is walking back that hire?

it seems unlikely we'd be looking to hire position coaches before the OC. I guess unless all Herman's choices have coached with him before he and knows they'll work with whoever he wants.

While I would normally agree, it appears Herman is a control freak

The alleged insider oracles on this board obviously are just as full of shit as the 9.95ers.

-TH doesn’t have a blank check to money whip “ the best available”

    - TH didn’t fire anyone, likely everyone was fired and leaving staggered timetable that met various basic needs in some ways such as money and recruits.

You think 1.2 mil is what kept Harrell at usc?

It’s over and everyone knows it. But it took Mensa to unify everyone in hatred. It’ll be the one good thing he did for Texas.

I flipped. Unless Herman pulls a rabbit out of his hat.
