Just like Mack burned it down when he thought Saban would succeed him, Herman would try to do the same if he heard it was Urban(narrator:not hapening).  neither of these guys egos would allow it.

Interesting thought.    But Tom doesn’t have that pull

Herman will be just like Mackovic and when asked to go get the best he took a guy that is already here to give us the finger. Larry Fedora will be the new OC next year. That is what artogant people will do. Already set it up today by calling him a mentor.

I think if he were like Mackovuc he’d make Larry the dc

Urban was admitted to Seton Northwest with chest pain earlier tonight. It's definitely on.

Let’s keep him away from our critically acclaimed volleyball team

Exactly.  Why ever leave a situation like that.  And SLC, with Park City right there, is pretty spectacular country.

    It’s boring as shit

There isn't an available coach with a better resume than this :

Some of y'all are acting like he's going to leave Texas with an SMU style death penalty. Naw......UF and Ohio St were never under any NCAA sanctions after he stepped down. I'm good with Urban coaching Texas for a short span of 5 years if it results in a NC and some conference championships along the way. Zach Smith won't be a part of his staff, that's irrelevant. You know damn well with the disdain Urban has towards Herman he'd love nothing more than to succeed Herman and begin winning with his team as a big fuck you to MENSA.

    Only one undefeated season.  Pass

When your team regresses instead of progressing it’s 100% coaching. Especially if injuries aren’t involved.

I’m not saying a change isn’t warranted but this team was playing a ab at rb yesterday and had played mason Ramirez as a db

I think one of the following happens:

    • Nothing changes.  Mensa is too arrogant and stubborn to make any staffing changes, and will just make excuses or throw players under the bus.  No potential OC or DC worth their salt is going to want to come here and join a staff on a one year rental that is likely not going to be retained after 2020 anyway.  Furthermore, it's not like Mensa would cede control of the offense to any outside input.
    • CDC tells Mensa to make changes.  He shitcans some low level guy(s) like Warehime or Mehringer, hires some generic replacements, and proclaims job well done.  Titanic deck chairs are rearranged, but nothing noticeably changes in 2020, and the whole staff is inevitably fired.
    • CDC tells Mensa that he has to make changes, and Mensa is too arrogant and stubborn to comply.  Mensa resigns rather than make any changes, and we begin a coaching search for 2020.

I feel like I've seen this movie play out before.

Mensa doesn’t get a done if he resigns.    Leave that out

Texas is going to be paying guaranteed money out the ass for any incoming coordinators to make sure they are willing to sign on if it is just for one year, just like Charlie's last year. Texas may not be on the hook for $75 million for just the HC, but they are damned sure trying to get it as close as possible for the whole staff.

Yep.  So may be best to cut about now if it’s a financial issue

If CDC doesn't do the right thing and fire Tom, and Tom doesn't hire a Morris or another big named OC Tom would do well to hire Applewhite.  I know some would not like that hire but it worked well at tOSU and Houston.  Not to mention Major has been at Bama picking up a few more pointers on how to run a program.  Unlike a big name who would be worried about only being a one year gig I think Major is in a position to accept and would be worlds better than Beck.

Agree. Majors offenses at Houston looked good

Easily could have hired him when we hired Strong. Didn't even consider him though. Settled for the guy who struggled to score more than 30 or win by more than one score every Thursday night with Teddy Bridgewater at QB facing a Pop Warner schedule. Such a fucking shame.

I remember most 9.95ers thinking he wasn’t good enough.     Charlie was the worst choice.
