The Florida loss happened after 3 home games and a bye.
They will also have a SEC championship game appearance. The FSU loss is way better than fthe je Florida loss. And their other loss was not by 25 points.
If they cant get above 10 then neither would we
More coaches should make this type of move. He has a better shot at the playoffs as the G5 rep at CSU than an ACC championship at Stanford. Same reason Mullen should stay at UNLV for a few more years.
Did you look up Bamas resume? They have a win vs Georgia and didnt lose by 4 scores to OU 2 weeks ago. Their FPI is #6 and ours is #12. Beating Michigan state doesn't change that much.
The committee doesn't care about a&m and if we win Friday they will drop like a rock.
Just gonna put this out there one more time post rankings. Texas would still be on the bubble with south western Tennessee state in week 1. Alabama would be #10 and we'd be #11/12 looking to get jumped by the ACC and G5.
Go look at the resumes before quoting me.
Back to the topic at hand. For those of you who trust Sark to be able to fix this mess he has created in the running game, here are the rushing yards per game ranks the last 5 years. For reference I have added the rushing ranks for Herman's tenure. Btw Herman's last RB recruit was J Brooks who left after 2023. Sark has had 2 years to replenish the RB room and has failed to do so either by arrogance or ineptitude.
Texas Rushing Yards the last 5 years
2025- 121.7/game ranked 102nd
2024- 159.9/game ranked 69th (nice)
2023- 188.4/game ranked 23rd
2022- 188.2/game ranked 34th
2021- 199.3/game ranked 27th
Herman's 4 years
2020- 195.3/game ranked 37th
2019- 177.2/game ranked 46th
2018- 153.2/game ranked 80th
2017- 140/game ranked 93rd
Mike Leach coaching at the schools he did was best for the sport of CFB. It gave us all a hero to root for at the 3rd tier schools and never allowed a big fanbase to tarnish his reputation.
Maybe they give him the first ever (I think) NFL Head Coach in Waiting title and let him take over after 2026 for Carroll. The Davis' are great at doing stuff that has the highest likely hood to blow up in their face.
They would need to slot us in over Vandy at #14 for this to maybe happen. My guess is they will do something stupid and put Michigan over us in the scenario they beat tOSU and to avoid the H2H comparisons with Vandy.
A parlay of Miami, OU, Vandy, BYU, Utah, Bama and a&m losing is +518047 or .02% chance to unfold.
But................ a $10 bet would win you almost $52k so get your slips in!
I feel bad for the fan base that hires Drink. They'll never lose a game they are notsupposed to but they'll never win the ones they're not supposed to.
Don't lose to Florida
OU is 9-2 with better losses to us and Ole Miss. Funny you bring them up they scheduled and beat Michigan and are reaping the rewards.
Don't lose to Florida
Bama has a better resume and is currently #10 and will be the final at large at 10-2. They'd be in over Texas.
I
2024 Alabama was 9-3 and the first team left out with similar wins to ours this year. They got close cause all they lost to a 10 win Tennessee that made the playoffs and to vandy and ou who made bowls barely. They also didnt struggle to beat bottom dwellers in their other games.
We should be in but losing to 3-9 Florida left us out not the defending camps who are blowing everybody out.
0.0 chance we're still in the top 10.
Alabama is currently #10 with 2 losses to a 6-6 Florida state and Oklahoma loss. They won 4 straight against Georgia, vandy, Mizzou and Tennessee.
Their wins are better and their losses are way better. Theyre only "bad" win was south Carolina who are better than Kentucky and Mississippi state.
With all other wins the same.
At 9-2 with no tosu with the Florida loss and Georgia blowout we'd likely be at #14ish right now.
8-3 with closer loss to Georgia and we're #14ish right now.
9-2 with either the tosu or Georgia result reversed and we're #8ish.
The Ohio state game does more good than bad.
In 2023 at 11-1 without Alabama we're not in the playoffs. The committee would have taken the undefeated teams and left us out. They only snubbed fsu because Texas and Alabama played that game
We've got 11 years of a sample size. Outside of a couple playoff seeding changes they have only dropped 2014 TCU and 2023 FSU that i could find. Both of those are outliers with the first being the first playoff and the second FSU losing their qb.
The committee operates differently than the AP. They don't flip flop teams weekly after wins. If a team in front of you wins out you're not jumping them. Texas needs other teams to lose at this point
If we beat them they'll likely drop to #7 with a matchup against #10 Bama/BYU/Utah/Miami
A SEC championship loss gives them the #5 seed and a game against #12 Tulane. Lol
I think we can jump them with a bad big 12 championship loss as well so may not be necessary if it gets to that point
Blues guaranteed in after today's results.
We need to get to Alabama's spot.
As of this moment we are #16 with USCs loss today.
this evening and next week will need 6 losses from the following list to get to #10.
Oklahoma vs LSU
ND Vs Stanford
Bama vs Auburn
BYU vs Cincinnati/UCF/tech
Utah vs Kansas
Miami vs Pitt
Vandy vs Tennessee
If Tech loses the big 12 championship we are effectively eliminated unless all 7 lose and it turns into a beauty contest.
They wont be in the seccg with a loss to Texas so they are locked in unless they lost tomorrow. I did this exercise and it would take some 2007 level insanity to happen for the next 10 days for this to even get close to happening.
