  1. Yeah sorry, that wasn't directed at you, more the article. If I'm migrating away from some shit and there's a cure at the end of my journey, I'm going to hit a CVS first thing where they ask zero questions about where I came from and get a shot. And I'll admit, my take is pretty shaky, but so is the click bait doom porn article.
  2. Or, even better why assume they're unvaccinated?
  3. Man, there will be a lot of data to sift through in a year or so regarding masks and infections in schools.
  4. Someone else had a link from UT health that said peak in mid October. That seems like a pretty big discrepancy... I'd prefer today, but what's the difference between the two?
  5. For the vaccinated who are back to wearing masks indoors, what data are you using for when it's safe to go back indoors without a mask?
  6. Why not do what we should've been doing from the start: fast, accurate testing on a routine basis? This solves for the under 12 crowd who can't get vaccinated. I have no problem places asking for proof of vaccination as long as there's also an option for recent negative test.
  7. One of the local TV stations had a quote that something like 80% of Austin's hospitalizations were from one of the zip codes near Del Valle. I'll try to find a link to their story, but I couldn't ever find their back up. Looking at the case map for Travis county, most of the cases from the past 14 days are from Pflugerville and del Valle, so it could be true.
  8. You're correct. I'm sure it has something to do with that area getting hit hard prior to any vaccinations being available?
  9. The AISD mask mandate doesn't start till tomorrow. No rules broken if that meet the teacher was today for an AISD school.
  10. @trauma babe, @cactusflinthead wants me to ask if you got a lot of kids in the hospital with covid? Also check yes or no if you like him. [ ] yes [ ] no
  11. What do you disagree with in his statement?
  12. Overwhelmed with covid kids? The APH dashboard, while a week behind, has 4 individuals under the age of 20 in the hospital for Covid? Is that a lot?
  13. Maybe. Behavior should change as local data changes. There's a big difference between 15 new cases per day in Travis county compared to 750 new cases. The request to wear masks should be based on local stats. Today, in Austin, it makes sense to be prudent. In 4 weeks when this has passed, I'd expect behavior to change as well.
  14. On APHs website, they list the labs that they use to track positive cases, but I don't see common testing places like CVS, Walgreens or curative on there. Do those places send their tests to one of the listed labs to get the results or are those positives just not counted?
  15. Are you seeing "first shots before third shots" as a result? Because that's the tag line that the WHO is going with so that all the greedy Americans share with the rest of the world.
  16. The US should give out a 2fer1 Pfizer covid vax/ Viagra coupon with every shot. Boom, problem solved... unless you're Moderna or J&J. @walensky, are you listening?
  17. Are they? I really haven't seen much change around Austin even with the "Aggy rollercoaster in September" looking incline in cases.
  18. And each month that goes by and you're not vaccinated, the credit amount reduces.
  19. Lies, damned lies and statistics?
  20. Family friends' kids got it and gave it to their Dad, who had Pfizer shots. He said it was one bad, achy night of sleep. Mom, who got Moderna did not get it. Those are just two data points out of a billion though, but I'm always curious what flavor vaccine the breakthrough cases got.
  21. Which is a little curious given that the vaccine wasn't widely available until March, which puts everyone fully vaxxed 6 weeks later. Edit:. Nevermind. Read that wrong
  22. If I'm reading the X Axis correctly, I think it's more important to figure out which 10 states omitted data.
  23. Hold up. They're using where you got the shot, not where you live for county vaccination rates? If Travis county is at 70% by that metric, we might be actually above 80%. With APH having trouble with the roll out in the beginning, all my family went to either Bexar or Wilco for they're shots.
