  1. Everything seemed to be going well, hadn't heard a word about A&M leading, until ... ... a crystal ball from this fucker.
  2. On Dominick McKinley, from a couple of LSU 247 mods. First, the tl;dr comments. Sonny Shipp "I ended last week feeling LSU had ground to make up on 5-star DL Dominick McKinley ahead of Friday’s commitment announcement and I start the week in that same spot." "... the most buzz is still on Texas followed by Ohio State then LSU and Texas A&M. Gauging the pulse of each side from multiple angles, the Texas side continues to be the most confident." "For me, I’m treading water on Monday morning with still too many signs pointing to Austin and/or Columbus." Glen West "Appears that Texas/Ohio State have more momentum but don't count out A&M either." FULL NOTE PLUS COMMENTS
  3. Some excerpts - minus the dreck - on targets, across a few 247 boards: HORNS 247, ON MCKINLEY "Talking to sources over the weekend, feelings have remained favorable towards UT ahead of Friday, if not gaining more momentum in Texas’ direction." Hank South " .. a source north of the Red River told Horns247 the Sooners staff has started to wane on their chances with the five-star, with the same source believing McKinley will be selecting the burnt orange when it comes time to make a decision on Friday." (Jordan Scruggs, I think.) (Potentially interesting tell.) "For what it’s worth, as of right now I’m planning to make the drive out to Louisiana on Friday to see McKinley and his Acadiana squad take on Texas commit Melvin Hills and his Lafayette Christian Academy team. I have a couple of backup games in place in case we get word that the pick won’t be the Longhorns, but as of now I’m planning to spend more than a few hours on I-10 on Friday." (Jordan Scruggs, I think.) BUCKEYES 247, ON MCKINLEY AND BAKER "When it comes to NIL Texas has plenty of backing and they likely have the ability to make things happen with both McKinley and offensive lineman Brandon Baker, two huge targets of both the Buckeyes and Longhorns. But there is still the feeling on the Ohio State side that the Buckeyes could win at least one of these two battles." Bill Kurelic. MIKE ROACH (247), ON BLACK "In talking with sources near the recruitment, the confidence still sits heavily on Texas. While the Longhorns are in the driver's seat, he wants to watch how the season plays out for all teams involved, so nothing is done at this point." (Roach also reiterates Black's stated intention to wait until December.)
  4. Lulz. Jeremiah Smith - #1 WR, #2 overall - is "committed" to Ohio State, but says his recruitment (by other schools) will continue until he signs. Talking about the QBs at the other schools he's interested in -
  5. Hank South (Horns 247) this evening, on Dominick McKinley.
  6. I guess all's well with Bryce Foster, after all.
  7. Just a PSA, degenerates ... modulate your drinking so you can watch at least part of this. It's KJ Lacey. It's tonight, 7:00 pm central.
  8. Where I sit with LSU and 5-star DL Dominick McKinley Sonny Shipp (LSU 247) "If I had to put in a pick right now, I’m not sure who it would go to. I do know it would not go to the home team at this stage and on the current terms." "The Texas sentiment coming from some who have picks in on the Longhorns remains positive about their chances." (And, for the lulz ...) "LSU has to use these next eight days to show its entire benefits package – on the field, in the classroom 🤣 🤣 🤣 , NIL opportunities, etc. – ..."
  9. 🙂 On Brandon Baker. This sounded really good. From the Buckeye 247 staff today - a combination of Kurelic and a couple of their other guys/sources. (Recently, Wiltfong said he thought it was Texas vs. Ohio State.) The gist: - until recently, they thought Ohio State led for Baker. They don't anymore. - as of now, they give Texas the nod. Not over, but it sounds like Texas. - they are competitive with (their) NIL, but when oil money goes all in, hard to match. On a related note, they talked about Baker as a prospect, and they were absolutely gushing. Remember, this is Ohio State, with a zillion 5 stars in this class and across their roster. So it's not like seeing 5 stars is anything new for them. Some paraphrased excerpts: - hate comparing prospects with the best in the NFL, but if there's one guy with whom you do it, it's Baker. - a dancer. Surefire NFL talent. If they were sitting with millionaire donors and could use the money for one guy, they would do it for Baker. - don't want to talk about him because they may start crying ... hard "breaking up" with someone. From an NFL standpoint, as much of a sure thing as you can get. "But that's what you're losing ..." So yeah, hope we get the guy.
  10. This is a pretty interesting article. Tarp has traversed the spectrum in his assessment of the aggies - at one point, he was hypercritical and pessimistic. He then drank the Fisher Kool-aid, and got burned. He is now cautious, and he's been writing a few articles along these lines. This also reminded me of comments from a few here, that Owens' lack of experience in pass pro (coming from a high school offense that hardly passed) could be a issue for him, at least early on. This surely augurs well: "Last season, A&M’s backs graded out near the bottom at pass protection than any other group in the Southeastern Conference per Pro Football Focus. Not only that, but they also allowed more pressures (10 of them on 67 opportunities) than anyone else." Here's the full enchilada: Unlikely position group key to A&M generating long passes Tarp (Aggie 247)
  11. (More than the perfunctory still-in-contact article - "Davis says he “for sure” intends to be at DKR this fall for a game".) Texas A&M commit Myles Davis still in contact with Longhorns Hank South (Horns 247)
  12. :-)) Probably the most definitive recent comments I've heard Wiltfong make on Brandon Baker. - Expect decision early fall - Change at the top of the board (used to be Oregon) - Now, school to really keep an eye on is Texas - Ohio State 2, Nebraska wild card (will get OV in Sep) - But if we talk today, edge to Texas
  13. Yep, he said it. Advantage: Aggy! Tarp's Take: A&M was ultimately the bigger winner with LHN Tarp (Aggie 247) FULL ARTICLE
