  1. Apparent interest from good schools - Notre Dame, Nebraska, Ole Miss (possible) and Texas. *********************************************************************************************** Ex-North Carolina RB commitment Amir Brown previews Notre Dame visit, talks Nebraska and Texas interest Here's the latest on three-star junior running back Amir Brown, who opened his recruitment back up this week. Anna Adams Three-star junior running back Amir Brown of Rolesville (N.C.) publicly announced his decommitment from North Carolina on Wednesday. 247Sports subsequently spoke with Brown over the phone to gather insight on his next steps, which includes two visits planned and a third one in the works. First up, a return visit to Notre Dame this weekend. He first visited South Bend back in the spring. Brown spoke on his interest in the Irish. "I love the culture and people there," Brown said. "When you look at it, it seems so genuine. I love people like that, always smiling and not just fake smiles but real ones. I really like what Notre Dame does with their running backs. They are really big on running back production." Brown will travel to Notre Dame with his head coach and a couple of teammates, including junior four-star safety Marquis Bryant, who also holds a Notre Dame offer. Nebraska will host Brown on a first-time visit next weekend for the Northwestern game. The Cornhuskers offered Brown in September. "I like how they get their running backs the ball, it's a big part of what they're known for," Brown said. Texas is another school expressing considerable interest. No visit date has been locked in yet, but Brown hopes to visit Austin this season. "I like how big they are on their running backs," Brown said. "I'm a versatile back and I can run, catch, and block. Texas likes to get their swing routes going and running backs involved in the passing game. I think it would be a good fit for me because I do the same thing in high school so it could be a good transition." Ole Miss is another school that Brown believes could be interested. Brown (5-foot-10, 200 pounds) carries a 247Sports three-star rating of 88.
  2. From Tim Drevno's bio - He's in his mid fifties. - Other than 2014, he was with Jim Harbaugh from 2004 through 2017, at San Diego, Stanford, San Francisco and Michigan. Full career timeline -
  3. Pretty high on the list of things I want to see - as long as Arch doesn't barf it up again - is Wingo having a great game against a P4 opponent (esp. one with a good defense). For those who look at Wingo as a still-young receiver w/ potential, that's fine. But given the hype surrounding his arrival on campus, and some early games against G5s, he has been talked about as an elite receiver. A clear #1 coming into this year, on a team ranked #1. And I don’t think that's merited. After his 127 yard game against - ahem - UTSA last September, he's not had another 100-yard game. He didn't have a * 50-yard game * until … Sam Houston State. That's a stretch of 16 games. He's never had a 50-yard game against a P4 team. (He came close, but when you come close but miss hurdling a low bar, that just emphasizes the miss, doesn’t it?). He's averaged approx. 19 yards/game, over 14 games, against P4 teams. Wingo wasn't just described as a fast guy; people emphasized his size. Big, physical guy, with a huge catch radius. Sounds like a great candidate to score TDs. After his TD against Louisiana Monroe last year, he went 14 games - almost a calendar year - without another TD, until UTEP came along. Entering the UTEP game, who do you think had more TDs - Wingo, after 18 games, or Parker Livingstone, after 2? Wingo has zero TDs versus P4 teams. Setting aside the numbers, when we watch games with good offense, we usually see receivers … making plays. Stretching, extending, making athletic catches on passes that are far from perfect. They elevate the offense. (Those plays usually come when QBs make difficult throws under duress, not when the QB has time and space but - for some inexplicable reason - flings the pass yards from the stationary receiver, but we digress … ). With Wingo, it's seemed as if he needs perfect passes, to make the catch. I'm sure he's made some good ones, but when he averaged under 2 catches a game ('24), it's tough to recall many. And that's considering his body of work, not just the recent games, when our golden boy QB has been a mess. (For me, catching perfectly placed rainbows when you have yards of separation against overmatched G5 defenses doesn't count for much anymore.) Again, lots of context. He's still a soph. When Bond went down, yeah, he should have taken advantage of the vacuum, but a really good and experienced guy like Golden was better equipped to do so. Ewers' limitations, and Arch's struggles. So there were contributory factors, and he has time. And the time is now. Starting with this game, over the next few games - assuming Arch gets him the ball - it would be a great time for Wingo to live up to his expectations and potential.
  4. @immamac Darn it ... can you please move this to the Recruiting Board? Thank you.
  5. To Texas!!
  6. (Content in the Stampede, on 2026 recruits, posted in the 2026 thread.) The Stampede: Latest Texas football recruiting intel (2027) Horns247 Staff Latest on 2027 RB target Speaking of breaking records, Richmond Randle 2027 five-star RB Landen Williams-Callis is getting closer and closer to putting his name atop the rushing records in Texas High School football. Though Jonathan Gray's career touchdown record of 205 will likely never be broken Williams-Callis is currently on pace to finish second all-time in career rushing scores. The 5-foot-7.5, 190 pounder recently eclipsed the 5,000 career rushing yards mark on Friday and at the pace he's on he should finish top 10 in career rushing yards as well. Williams-Callis' latest performance included 28 carries for 342 yards and six touchdowns on an average of 12.2 yards per carry in a huge 49-42 rivalry win over Iowa Colony. Williams-Callis lost two fumbles on Randle's first two possessions of the game, but the five-star bounced back and was able to lead Randle to a comeback victory after being down 21-0 in the first quarter. As far as the recruitment goes, at one point in the process, former Texas running backs coach Tashard Choice had the Longhorns at the front of the race for Landen Williams-Callis. Then Detroit came calling and Choice left, and the recruitment opened up a lot more. Williams-Callis has taken trips to Texas A&M and Oklahoma this fall, and he also has visits coming up to Ohio State, Oregon, SMU, and Texas A&M again. He looked into the Texas-Oklahoma game in Dallas, but since the recruits are only allowed in the stands and can't talk to coaches before or after the game, he's now looking at visiting Austin in November. However, the trip is yet to be scheduled to Horns247's knowledge. The highest ranked running back to come out of the Lone Star State in several cycles, Texas will need to land two at the position in 2027 and there wouldn't be a bigger running back class headliner than Williams-Callis. However, there's work to be done as far as getting Texas back to pole position in the recruitment. The Longhorns staff made it out to Randle this past week to visit and chat with Williams-Callis in person, but again, there's work to be done in this recruitment for Texas. (SCRUGGS)

  9. Interesting note from David Ash.
  10. Sweed's catch in the 05 game is the stuff of legend, and rightfully so. A couple of other things are hardly ever even mentioned - - Pittman had 130 yards / 1 TD receiving - the other - the contribution that sticks in my mind - is that of Jamaal Charles, as a receiver. Charles had 6 catches for 69 yards. As a true freshman. In his second game as a longhorn. On the road, vs. Ohio State. And in his secondary role (receiving). Pretty remarkable. In this game, I'm hoping Baxter/Wisner, as receiving threats, can play a big role. Unless we fall significantly behind, I have a suspicion Sark will be conservative. Minimize risks/TOs and take what you get safely and easily on offense, instead of putting your OL and young QB under pressure (and testing their best defensive player). So I think they try to run it and use conservative throws, and in that scenario, Baxter and Wisner may get lots of looks as receivers.
  11. Dave Aranda ... lulz. This guy Matt responded w/ a story he had done in '23:
  12. Holy smokes ... quite something, when we look at it like this.
  13. Holy smokes ... can't believe these guys thought this made for a good tweet. The look, the demeanor, the talk, the tone ...
