This is an old callback, but it’s Tuesday and I am coming down from coaching a tight 9U-10U late game, so okay.

Arizona was a power for a very long time. They won multiple CWS and have one of the winningest programs in CBaseball history. They’ve put more guys in the majors than like 6 programs. Sadly, they’ve won a CWS more recently than us. They can be a giant in the sport any time they give a shit enough to hire someone worth a damn.

They’re far more than a kinda power for a spell this century.

Thanks for the history lesson. After I posed that I went down Wikipedia and was like “oh shit! Didn’t realize they were that strong of a program.” Lice and learn. Thanks for the history lesson, ctj. Truly appreciate it. I’ll soak up anything college baseball.

Speaking of do you, @BillyGoatHill @Beau Vine or any of the other college baseball crew over here have any good books on college baseball history?

“Arizona wasn’t exactly a powerhouse but they were a solid ass program since 2000 or so.”

So did you just start watching college baseball around 2000 or so? Or what?

Well, I turn 31 in March. So yeah pretty much. My first Texas baseball memory was going to an alumni game in like ‘98 or something. Followed the next 3 teams closely. Then I had a family friend playing for us in 02 so I went to an ocean of games while he was there from ‘02-‘04. And an ocean of games since then.

So basically yeah. My dad filled me in on UT baseball history from the 50’s to the end of the Gus days. That’s a lot of where my college and Texas baseball knowledge comes from

Pierce isn't going anywhere. I can live with that. He's turned this team around before and I hope he can do it again. But goddamn it's getting frustrating.

We're young and we have a lot of good freshman talent that might blossom in the next few years but we're Texas and we don't like waiting. Pitching looked good before this past weekend and now most of our bullpen looks like shit. My hope is that he now has more of a set plan on who to start and who will be the backbone of the bullpen (*cough* BOEHM *cough*)

Does Porter Brown have an ugly girlfriend? Get that dude's confidence back up somehow. Take these guys to the Landing Strip but not the night before a game.

Was just talking to @B00Mabout this. How much longer can we trout him out in left with his shitty defense and can’t hit a beach ball at the plate? Is Blake Peterson ready for the spotlight? Cause I can’t handle watching Porter in left. It’s just painful

I just watched a game at Disch Falk Field where almost 1 out of every 3 people that attended were rooting for the other team.

Not sure vandy and Florida and Georgia and South Carolina are going to travel as well as a school 90 miles east of us or LSU or Arkansas. Just a hunch

That run from 2002-05 was borderline dynastic. Champs in '02, 3/4 in '03, runners-up in '04, champs again in '05.

I’d stretch it to 2011. What, like 8 or so conference titles, what you said above, along with hosting in ‘06, ‘07 and ‘08. Runner up in ‘09. What I think was the best team in the country won the conference and drew a shitty draw for the supers. Then 2011 once again won the conference, hosted our way to Omaha and got bounced in 2 games. Hell of a 10 years

Some of us have real jobs.

Not me, but some of us.

Not sure passing out handies under a mopac bridge passes as “real jobs” I know you’ve carved out a good career beating off and blowing homeless dudes, but is this really the direction you want to go? Wait what am I saying? Of course it is

Man I hate 8pm weekday games. I hope we get many more 6pm road games in the SEC

It’s cool with me. Working 3-11 today. Watch the game then boom. 2 hours of my shift is taken care of

Give the rest of the season hell boys !!

I sure love the every other year UT visit to MMP. Hope it stays the same way. Love seeing all the burnt orange in the stadium. It’s always a great three days, catching up with friends.

get your shit together, stay healthy, and make a run !!!!

We clearly have the bats to go on a run. Need Witt to be awesome like he used to be. That’d be huge. With him, the rotation and bullpen will take care of itself

TCU's coach is worth taking a gander out when we can Pierce's bitch ass...has familiarity with CDC

We’re not canning him dude. Seriously do you watch Texas baseball? We’ve started this way pretty much every year Pierce has been here. Talk to me in mid April. I’ll go ahead and guess we’ll be top 3 in the conference standings by then

I hated my high school coach but one thing he did always say right while we were pitching was "get ahead, stay ahead". Still holds true and we aren't doing that

My head coach when we would be in a 0-2 or 1-2 counts and one of us would try to spin a curve into the dirt or a slider that ends up in the lefties batter box. He’d yell “GOD DAMMIT THROW STRIKES!!!! Basically meaning fuck that off speed shit. Toss a fastball or change over the place. With a pitcher friendly count. Couldn’t believe my ears.

  11. @B00M I hate you so much right now. ‘06-‘08 hurt so fucking bad. ‘06 and ‘08 would’ve done some serious damage in Omaha. Same with the 2010 team. Still can’t believe the drop off from 2010-2012. Did Augie think he could just remake the T-Nic days instead of recruiting the Cameron Rupp, Kevin Keyes,Brandon Belt and Russell Moldenhaur’s of the world, 2 years later we have Felts, Walsh, Etier, Marlow (who was kind of a beast but inconsistent that year). IIRC, our strategy in 2012 was “just wait till Payton and Weiss are up. A hit or walk from anyone else is just gravy.” What a fun time that was

Last year definitely featured a little tougher competition through 11 games imo. Indiana and Fullerton both were regional teams. San Diego might be but Cal Poly definitely is not. It will even out though because we don't have any Manhattan or New Orleans type series coming up like last year did.

Which rotation did we have more confidence in at this point? Gordon-Morehouse-Sthele or LBJ-Hurley-Howard?

Obviously LBL-Hurley-Howard. But man, I’d kill to have Morehouse back right about now. When he’s on, he’s one of the best closers in the country. When he’s off it’s not good to say the least.

    Really really wish he stayed

They are only showing it on ESPN Deportes, you have to be in Guatemala though.

    Or Nico O'Donnell?

    I'd guess Harrison or Witt.

I’d be cool with Witt. He’s looked good the last couple outings. Let’s get him in a large crowd game experience against, and I say this lightly, a instate rival, and see if he’s gonna be legit for us or a midweek inning eater

@shadow_operative2.0 you’d know, streaming options for this weekend? Assuming ESPN+ but you never know with this amazing conference
