Other than stick probably 25-30 kids into the nfl. How many first rounders last year, like 5?

I was referencing winning, sorry.  I hate the nfl so I don't care.  I understand that the kids want to go the nfl but those kids were part of Meyer's classes not the current cheater's.

  2. This is our year.  If we don't do it on the field, well we deserve this.  Our roster is stacked.  We don't have playing time available for any freshmen, even 5 stars (except Bijan).  Bijan may be the only player able to crack the 2 deep.  We have relatively low turnover and some decent coaching coming in.  It's our time.

  3. C-USA and Sun Belt may be joining forces soon.  Likely to commence with pods to save money on travel.  Could this be the recipe for the B12 and Pac12?

There will be a total of 24 teams in the new C-USA/Sunbelt.....  The main difference being the geographic pods will greatly help the travel costs of USA/SB.  B12 and P12 are already geographically split and pods wouldn't help that much.  Anyway.....  something is happening.

I'd guess that Utah, the Arizona schools, and probably SC will want to play football.  Stanford might want to play, too.  But I bet the local alumni politics of playing football are worse in Palo Alto than in Los Angeles.

If refusal to play somehow triggers a contract/GOR breach within the PAC,then maybe those four (SC, UA, ASU, UU) get the Big 12 to 14 by 2021.  I assume all four would be operating as quasi-independents for 2020 at this relatively late stage.

This would be awesome.  You could prolly break off CU as well which would take us to 15.  Not a great deal for WVU but well, too bad.

Today marks the 60th day that we have been self isolating in Los Angeles. And just a few hours ago, the un-elected LA county health official Barbara Ferrer decided to toss out that we'd be under the shelter order for 3 more months. Besides the fact that she is offering contradictory information that has inflamed many people today (beaches are opening tomorrow, some restrictions already being lifted), I figured there was very little chance that the PAC would play this season. The PAC will likely lean on the "can't return to normal until we have effective treatment or a vaccine" narrative. It is seeming more like there will only be a few select conferences willing to play, starting with the SEC. And I expect this whole thing will get very ugly very soon.

The virus isn't going away.  At this point, hiding is only delaying the inevitable.  Vaccines for corona viruses are a tall order.  They mutate quickly so a vaccine stands to be one step behind.  I imagine that football will be the SEC and the B12 mainly.  Look out GoR agreements...  I bet that refusal to play breaks them.  This is the perfect opportunity to jump ship.

If football does not get played, there are going to be a lot of athletic departments in a world of hurt.

We could see an all out "free for all"  if some schools decide not to play.  There will be a lot of athletic departments taking bailouts but not playing could get them locked out permanently.

  7. 100k per player per year to start.  That's 4.8 million out of a budget of 150 million.  Think this is unrealistic?  It better be realistic because our competition will be doing it.  That 150 million in revenue can shrink quickly and will if we continue our current path.  Take a stroll on some of the streets where many of these kids come from and 100k and a school with the best players is the future.   This will be Texas if CDC is worth a shit.  If not,  and he lets this get ahead of him, he'll be fired in a few years.

Not many schools would be able to match 100k per player per year.  Maybe we set up a few players with additional benefits but I think this is realistic.   This is within our reach.  Not many people give a fuck about expanded end zones and such but we do want championships.

  8. This looks like an opportunity for Texas and Texas Boosters to return the school to pre scholarship limit dominance.  First, is there a limit to what an athlete may be paid?  Whatever that limit, Texas needs to arrange for every scholarship athlete to make that amount.  The benefit of this is obvious.  We may not always get the best individual player but our quality will be unmatched.  The highest level players will soon want to play for Texas for the opportunity.  We can control the talent market with our huge corporate partnerships.  I think this is a recipe to pre scholarship limit dominance.  Every year we need to be pushing to raise the amount players may earn because lesser schools will never be able to match.

Jesus christ.. i get it with the negative Texas takes..but now you wanna use the conference as an excuse..If we were in the SEC and still only had 3 players drafted, would you would feel better since the SEC got soo many kids drafted?

Goodness dude.  The conference is a drag on recruiting.  Can you see that?  It's a negative feedback loop that we are having to fight against in our own state.  Hopefully you are able to understand this.  The Pac sent more players to the NFL than the B12 did..... The Big 12 is a drag on UT Austin.  It just is.  Maybe you would feel better if we were winning the American Conference.  They weren't far behind the Big 12.  We need out now.

I wont argue that we don't pay players to the level of the worst offenders (ole miss and most of the SEC), but its naive to think we are the only school that recruits well on the merits of our program. Every school thinks that.

Our results from 2000-2009 show that whatever level we do pay is plenty when coupled with good coaching. Those squads placed plenty of talent in the NFL. Our recruiting rankings didnt fall off nearly as bad as our records once Mack got lazy, Strong showed up and fucked up everything, and we allowed Herman to initially staff his squad with a bunch of his mediocre buddies.

But to whatever extent the NCAA does allow "legitimate sponserships/endorsements/stipends", it should benefit Texas more than most, as there is a lot money with ties to Texas football swirling around Austin.

Agreed.  I hope you are correct with the "player compensation" claim.  There is a lot of money that follows Texas football.  Hopefully we can make it work 100x better than some of these schools.  Ever been to Baton Rouge?  It's pretty dumpy, yet they are able to make the money flow to all the right places.  Here's to using our resources to dominate CFB.

That's bullshit. Shitty coaching makes Texas look inept. Unless your argument is that we were cheating our ass off during the 2000's and then decided to go clean this past decade.

More likely we've been playing the game roughly like we always have, but our coaching regressed to dogshit levels.

Settle down.  They cheat.  We don't, at least compared to tOSU.  We don't play the game.  10+ years is a long time.  Yes, we have crap coaching and admin..  We don't pay enough... etc...

Why does tOSU need a bailout from the government?  Something is wrong in the rust belt.

Amateurism is a fucking pipedream. With regard to college football at the FBS level.

Continuing to ‘protect’ it, only strengthens the corruptors.

They make UT Austin and the other schools that don't "play the game" look inept.  Anyway, it's been this way for a long time.

  13. We need to clean house at Belmont.  We have sooo many useless paper pushers.  Many make 6 figures for doing nothing.  This cash could go to paying players.  Look at tOSU, those assholes are getting a huge bailout.....  guess where that money is going?  Texas plays stupid, we are always behind the curve.  Come on admin, get your shit together.

if Texas had 8 players drafted over the weekend.. would you really care about the big 12 conference total numbers?  Geez homie, grab you a tecate and relax man.

Undrafted means just that, "UNDRAFTED".  The Big 12 is a shit show.  There is no other way to slice it.  Something has to change fast or we go down with the ship.  Not too sure that isn't baked into the cake at this point.  And by the way, "we're baaaack".

  15. The Big 12 had 21 players total drafted into the NFL.  Texas had 3.  Holy shit something has to change.  This is horrible.  The Big 12 is a shit conference.  Not sure I'm down for any merger whatsoever.  This is like being at a party with a room full of fat chicks.....
