    Rowing

Congratulations to your family. Having known crew folk well in college, I have the upmost respect for these athletes and dedication this sport requires. Amazing to see how it's spread nationally over the last 30 years.
  2. Agree. This policy of not letting commits take other visits coupled with OU's underwhelming NIL and "NIL" programs is crippling OU's recruiting. Venables has shown the capacity to learn. He's already pivoted on his stance against heavily using the portal.
  3. I don't know about the Ewers part, but Williams (and Riley) is going to have to show that he can beat zone defense this year, likely behind a pretty bad offensive line. USC's WR group was already ok with Brendan Rice, Mario Williams, Jake Smith (j/k). Addison is obviously better than all of them, but getting a top OT would have made a bigger impact on winning for the Trojans.
  4. Jimbo doth protest too much, methinks
  5. This OU team isn't hitting as well as last years, and the Sooner bats have been relatively quiet the last 15 games. OU's runs per game is down to 7 (from 9) during this time. Throw out a 19-spot vs hapless Kansas and that average is 6.4. 6.4 would still be top 15 in the nation, but teams like Arkansas, Tennessee, and UCLA average about the same in better conferences. Jody Bahl is the real difference maker for OU. The Sooners didn't have anyone like her last year. If she's not fully healthy, OU's definitely a good, not great team.
  6. If UT is 16 or 17 and wins, I guess that'll mean a trip to Norman for a OU-UT super-regional.
  7. Can't be right. OU's shut out Bama twice alone (1997, 2016). Maybe in conference tournament. Mizzou is good.
  8. I'm aware. RPI isn't the sole factor determining seeding. Last year, OU wasn't #1 in RPI either.
  9. lol any prediction that doesn't have OU #1.
  10. If he'd gone to UT, it would've kept him from going to FAU where he led the Owls to #75 DFEI. Now he works for his brother.
  11. There'll be time enough for prognostication over the next few months. We'll see how confident you and your ilk are in your predictions in August.
  12. OU better do something. They have only 8 WR total, including 2 Fr (Fr WR are usually bad) and third year players who've been just JAGs.
  13. Waiting for this with football and basketball too
  14. Looks like a quality outside hitter prospect (volleybally humore is bestest)
  15. The problem with that sentence was the use of "they're."
  16. Good point. I think they've explicitly stated that they'll continue to recruit guys committed to other schools. I see the hypocrisy, but they're rationale is that OU is holding is that other schools don't view commitment in the formal meaning of the word so it's OK to try to poach commits.
  17. Venables strutting around the field with a microphone is reminiscent of a mega-church pastor in a Dabo-"Good Christian kids" way. The policy on commitments being FINAL-FULL-STOP is a very risk, tangible part of this. What Venables has said he wants is guys with good physical tools and smarts and mostly, "uncommon effort" (his mantra). We're going to learn if he can collect enough of these guys using this strategy. OU's going to have multiple NIL groups plus an attractive offense and defense so the resources are going to be there for him to be successful.
  18. Ole Miss and Tennessee can tell you about how crime doesn't always pay. Back to USC. Use the google machine: OJ Mayo, Joe McKnight, Varsity Blues, med school dean, and Reggie Bush.
  19. Probably purposeful that they copied the UT model, don't you think? It should mitigate (not eliminate) the influence of NIL for recruits looking at both schools. Getting Switzer to front it is also really smart too. OU's fanbase has predictable been very tepid about NIL so having a beloved elder lead the project licenses others to follow.
  20. Per the mgoblog guys, no so far. The litmus test, per them, may be Hunter Dickinson's pro decision. Dickinson is their basketball center. He is a solid college player but has no NBA prospects. UM groups should be able to cobble together massive sums to get him to stay is school.
  21. Dolcini did better than any pitcher OU's faced the last two years giving up only 2 earned runs and only 4 base runners in each game. Even the run-rule game was tight until the big 5th inning from OU. UT acquitted themselves well this weekend.
