  5. There's one song I do in drop D, World on a String by Neil Young. It's fun and I ought to do more.
  6. This is, by far, the best tuner pedal on the market. I can't remember who pointed it to me to it when Vary Mary was playing regularly, I thought it was here. Best pedal I ever bought. Its Poly, so you can strum all 6 strings at once and 6 red lights go across the top with green lights above and below that show if any are out of tune and roughly by how much. So you see the G string is a little sharp, it's always the G string, and when you pick just that string, the big, bright G shows on the display and you have multiple options for how you want it to indicate the tuning - including strobe. On top of all that it has a built in buffer, which you should have at the beginning of any chain of 3 or more pedals anyway, and it's form factor is smaller than most other tuner pedals.this replaced both a bigger Poly tuner I had and a buffer, and does a better job at both. I do use mine as a big on/off switch. It's true bypass. You do want it. I have a lot more guitars (13-ish) than I do basses (2), but the tuner pedal plays great w all of them. Edit - it's green lights for in tune in Poly mode, like this.

  8. You really need to upgrade your tuner pedal to this one, especially with that many pedals after it. Trust me.
  9. Well, that's too bad. By the time we got a response from our drummer, the spot was filled. That's 2 good gigs we've lost that way, plus we nearly blew the Psycho thing becuase our singer doesnt know how to read his email. At least our band name checks out. I'll try to go check them out anyway.
  10. Any of you Austin guys know a band called the Hickoids? We've been asked to play with them when they come through town next month. What i saw on YouTube kinda looks like a punky, parody cover band.

  16. All 3 of them are, but Dave, along with Steve Harris on bass, is the one who carries that rhythm in that band. The other two guys add some power chords to thicken it up and play solos, but Dave's holding it down. Then when takes his solo's, it's next level shit. Guy is crazy good. He's also been in that band longer than anybody but Steve. He seems to not have an ego about it. I've seen them live from the front rows several times, including this last Sept. I never realized it till I got an up close look at what they do. Janick came on when Bruce and Adrian quit in the early '90's, and he stayed on when they came back in 2000 (bye bye Blaze). I get the sense that he's a super sweet guy and they love having him around. He's a fun entertainer to watch. I saw them play that 1st tour back together in 2000. Metal was dead at the time and Maiden forgotten. They played a 3000 person auditorium on the UM campus in Minneapolis.. They had the huge stage, giant Eddie, Bruce's costumes and flags,, etc. It all barely fit in the room. I don't even think it was sold out. /csb
  17. I through Dave Murray into that mix too, he gets buried being in a band w 2 other guitar players.

  19. I find you press a lot lighter if you have hard, solid calluses built up. I play 10's on everything except 11's w a wound G on the big orange Gretsch. I find the extra pressure on the bridge helps it resonate more.

  24. Just stumbled on this great thread. I picked up a leg of lamb at a Costco Saturday and roasted it for Christmas dinner last night. It was incredible. I buy those 4lb trays of deveined jumbo shrimp then divide into 4 quart sized ziploc bags and throw them in the freezer. They'll defrost in cold water in under 10 mins, so there's always a protein on hand if time gets away from me like it often does. I go back and forth on the NY Strips and Ribeyes, sometimes the filet. That's not even getting into the liquor section. Love me some Costco.
  25. At least it looks like I'm not alone. Wordle 555 X/6* [emoji834][emoji834]🟨[emoji834]🟩 [emoji834]🟩[emoji834][emoji834]🟩 [emoji834]🟩[emoji834][emoji834]🟩 🟨🟩[emoji834][emoji834]🟩 [emoji834]🟩🟩🟩🟩 [emoji834]🟩🟩🟩🟩
