  1. Ladies and Gentlemen, the 80’s:
  2. With God as my witness, I never heard of Robbie Williams, Take That, or this song. I saw the trailer at a couple of movies over the holidays, and just assumed it was some concept movie with the conceit of a chimp born to a human family (kind of like a Stuart Little thing) who grew up up to be a famous singer, and that the life story was completely fictional. I had no idea that it was a basically true story about a real singer and for some reason they just decided to make him an ape in the movie. Having now learned that Robbie Williams is a big think across the pond, guess I can understand how this movie got made, despite the out of left field concept hook, but I still can’t understand why anyone thought Americans would go see it.
  3. Harder to do than people think: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/freakonomics-radio/id354668519?i=1000593879071
  4. With the disclaimer that this could be fake, fog of war and all that, a periodic reminder that for all our progress and trappings of civilization, there are still armies out there putting their enemies’ heads on pikes.
  5. Just ones that have football stadiums with lots of trees around them, which are for some reason therapeutic to Micah Hudson. I actually had a fraternity brother from Carrollton who got a job in Virginia after graduation and eventually left it because he was freaked out by all the trees in that state.
  6. You may want to skip Breakfast at Tiffany’s then.
  7. I’m hopeful for Shannon as well. He’s bigger than Helm and I’d like to see if he can be that second, blocking-oriented TE to complement Washington. Hopefully the staff can figure out if he’s up to that job during spring practice.
  8. Fits the thread title but I doubt we’d be interested: https://247sports.com/player/donovan-mcnabb-jr-46150805/
  9. Got it. Sorry again to everyone, I took it down.
  10. I apologize for whatever I did that got me 5 negs. I was just trying to post one of his “It’s Friday” X posts and link to the page. What happened? This is how it looks to me:
  11. Now you’re getting it. This is about asses in the seats, eyeballs on the TV, and merchandise sales. It’s Ric Flair going to WWE in 1991 on a grand scale. The Cowboys as a franchise and Deion as a public figure are as polarizing as they come, but like wrestling promoters have always known, Jerry knows that whether you cheer them on or want to see them get their asses kicked, your money spends just as good either way.
  12. That was my understanding, thanks. Have to imagine that if someone has requested the school to put in the paperwork we would have heard about it. That seems to be the way it has worked other places that get a lot of scrutiny like Texas.
  13. So has the window closed to declare for the draft or request that the school put in portal paperwork? Are we clear?
  14. Kind of like where this thread has landed
  15. Deion would be a three year train wreck that everyone would tune in to watch and would provide non-stop content for the sportstalk business. Might as well maximize revenue.
  16. I heard he was hepped up on goofballs
  17. Bluesky would never allow dangerous misinformation about college football transfer portal rumors to spread!
  18. Looks like McCarthy is hitting the market:
  19. Blue draft talk not going away
  20. I really hope we can find/have someone better than Hutson. From what we’ve seen of him he’s a reliable backup who can play 3 positions along the interior but has a ceiling of Majors/Conner ability. We have to get more physical and nasty in the interior. Barron may be the hardest loss to replace. That guy will go in the pantheon at DBU. Hoping based on recruiting profile that Derek Williams has a breakout year next season if he can stay healthy, and lessens the loss of Makuba.
  21. I agree with this. The move to LA did broaden their appeal somewhat in popular culture, but the way the No Fun League has been for two decades simply will not allow a team with the personality and mystique of the old Silver and Black to exist, even if they did win a couple of Super Bowls. I bet merchandising and ratings would go up if they became relevant again, however, in a way that a surge by the Texans or the Bengals would not.
