  1. You’re thinking of Nico Iamaleava and the rumored total was $8 million https://247sports.com/Player/Nicholaus-Iamaleava-46101236/
  2. I don’t know what Robinson’s ambitions are, but the niche of a Rodney Garner or Bo Davis or Larry Johnson recruiter and developer of D-lineman pays very well these days, makes you in demand no matter what happens with your head coach, and comes with a lot less stress and pressure.
  3. Technically, Maalik is the backup. I would expect him to portal if Quinn returns. From hearing some of the IT guys discuss it, Arch likely stays if Quinn comes back and given that Quinn can’t seem to play a whole season would probably get a few starts.
  4. Texas wins, confetti comes down, everyone is cheering, then all the lights go out and the gong hits. Crowd goes nuts and Taker comes out to deliver a Tombstone to Yormark on the 50 yard line.
  5. So are the boosters trying to set up a “turn key” situation for a new coach after they fire Napier in 2024? Because that schedule just sets him up for utter failure and a Charlie Strong/Derek Dooley 3 year run. I guess it worked for them when they fired Ron Zook after three years of great recruiting and subpar results when they hired Meyer.
  6. We are in a very similar spot to where we were in 2001. Coach with mostly his players in his 3rd year (4th for Mack) that made it to the CCG despite a loss to OU and playing an opponent we clearly should beat with a chance at playing for the national championship on the line. That year felt like we had stepped up to a new level, but left a bitter taste knowing the opportunity we had let slip away. We don’t have the regular season head to head with OSU the way we did with CU that year, but that CU team was really peaking coming into that game, having just ran all over an undefeated Nebraska team the week before that ended up playing for the BCS title. I don’t think OSU is nearly that good. Even with that result in 2001, in retrospect that was the year where Texas got truly back on the national stage. It was the first year of Mack’s 9 year run of winning 10+ games every season. It really feels like Sark has us heading in that direction, so I have to consider this season a success.
  7. No love for the Country Palace? Great place to go kicker dancin’
  8. I’m old enough to remember when Joe Wickline had the OL position on that list. Then we actually hired him.
  9. Old Rock the good ag and . . . I got no idea
  10. This guy is going to get so much tail in Austin telling chicks he’s Arch Manning
  11. I guess for $42 million you have to demean yourself like this
  12. Yeah I guess that’s right on the 9-5 bit. Math is hard.
  13. How does a team go 5-9 in a season? Or 9-5 for that matter? I think this is a fair take. Elko always was the most reasonable and achievable choice for them. It was all the Josh Pate’s of the world saying that they were a “top 3, maybe 4” coaching destination that got it twisted.
  14. And it’s a good one. I don’t know the answer. Should be interesting to watch play out.
  15. That’s a good question. I don’t know how much difference there is in V&S vs. AR, but Gabriel has been in a V&S his whole career and knows it forwards and backwards so it would seem he’d maximize his production if he stayed with Lebby.
  16. This is a very fair and reasonable take. Because they paid good money for that class!
  17. Bobby Burton thinks it will be Litrell. I know he had a decent offense for a few years at NTSU but he’s an Air Raid guy, not a veer and shoot, so it would make sense for Gabriel to go with Lebby.
  18. Where’s the band and the maroon carpet?
  19. When Tennessee did this with Schiano, they had an absolutely bonkers week of publicly throwing themselves at Gundy, Jeff Brohm, and Dave Doeren, getting rejected by all three. Then their AD went rogue, flew out to LA and worked out a MOU with Mike Leach, before being recalled to Knoxville by the university chancellor and fired. When interim AD Phillip Fulmer was appointed, he was left with Jeremy Pruitt, Mel Tucker, and Kevin Steele as his final choices. There’s no way this works out well for ATM in the short term. Like Sydney says, they should just bite the bullet, fire Bjork, promote Robinson, and start saving their money for the next search.
  20. God help me, I love the carousel. Especially when my team isn’t on it.
