They end up doing the Kool-Aid Man through someone’s kitchen like Sergio Kindle?

In my day I recall someone driving through the glasses store at Guadalupe and maybe 24th?  Seems like it was before the rice game and maybe a mike Adam’s involvement. Maybe a Pinckney?  Or that could all be bullshit to justify the loss (Which can’t be done). Any one else have this memory?

  2. So I am getting irritated when I keep reading about Jumbo getting personally involved with x recruit.  Is the reasonable deduction here that Sark is not getting involved?  If he is not then why the fuck not on these recruits that could make or break a class?  Since I choose to believe that that can’t be the case, it is a bullshit line from the 995ers.  Another possibility could be that Sark is involved but just not as effective as Jimbo.

in all scenarios i am not gruntled.

It's interesting too because we've made some surprising moves with recruits that likely require playing the game (Owens, Perkins, Stewart). Just not quite enough to close. I have no idea but it may just take time to get more boosters on board especially now that it can be in the form of NIL which is likely more palatable to some boosters.

Another good data point that we are dabbling at the very least. I would like to know our commitment and the time it takes to get an effective process up and running

It doesn't matter who you have to carry the bags if they're empty. Those that would fill said bags are unchanged, so then also is our ability to play the game.

It’s fair to take the position we are not cheating. The results so far lend to that conclusion. My assumptions were based on info posted here by CTJ who I believe to be connected and the obvious hiring of coaches who own monkeys that have the reputation. To make those hires has to mean something

IT Scoop (open at your own risk)

With Texas seemingly struggling on the recruiting trail, it’s time to reevaluate where IT believes the staff is with the current crop of priority targets.

We are still working to learn what happened in the Kelvin Banks recruitment. We feel strongly that it turned in the last week and our predictions/intel lagged too far behind.

WR Evan Stewart, Liberty (Frisco, TX): The top WR on the board who is also the most NIL focused. Oregon was a threat even before they proved to be a real threat for Texas athletes in this cycle.

    Gerry: 33%
    Eric: 40%
    Justin: 40%

WR Brenen Thompson, Spearman (Spearman, TX): 1b for Texas at the position. UT is in a good position with Thompson and his mother, just like with Kelvin Banks a week ago. He still has two official visits left as Alabama, Clemson, and Texas are vying for those dates. His visits to Austin and Eugene exceeded expectations, fwiw.

    Gerry: 33%
    Eric: 40%
    Justin: 35%

WR CJ Williams, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA): Has been viewed as a Notre Dame lean for a long time.

    Gerry: 33%
    Eric: 20%
    Justin: 20%

TE Arlis Boardingham, Birmingham (Van Nuys, CA): We’re just not sure the staff is going to push hard.

    Gerry: 10%
    Eric: 20%
    Justin: 15%

TE Jaleel Skinner, Greer (Greer, SC): Texas and Jeff Banks really like the four-star tight end, and Skinner seems to be willing to listen. Still a long shot today.

    Gerry: 15%
    Eric: 10%
    Justin: 18%

OL Devon Campbell, Bowie (Arlington, TX): One of the biggest needs in the class. Steve Sarkisian and Kyle Flood will have to outwork Lincoln Riley and Bill Bedenbaugh.

    Gerry: 51%
    Eric: 55%
    Justin: 53%

OL Kam Dewberry, Atascocita (Humble, TX): If Dewberry plays the long game this could become interesting but there’s a lot of work left to be done.

    Gerry: 15%
    Eric: 15%
    Justin: 15%

OL Neto Umeozulu, Allen (Allen, TX): Don’t be surprised if Texas makes another run at the Allen product. If he listens remains to be seen.

    Gerry: 10%
    Eric: 15%
    Justin: 20%

DL Jaray Bledsoe, Marlin (Marlin, TX): With a good jump on the recruitment, Bo Davis might be savvy enough to pull this one off.

    Gerry: 40%
    Eric: 40%
    Justin: 35%

DL Aaron Bryant, Southaven (Southaven, MS): An underrated player in SEC country, Texas is in good position now but can he really be pulled out of the region?

    Gerry: 40%
    Eric: 50%
    Justin: 45%

DE Justice Finkley, Hewitt-Trussville (Trussville, AL): Finkley just announced a top-three of Alabama, Colorado, and Texas. That sets up well for Texas, we think, if Alabama doesn’t push for him. If Alabama does push, welp.

    Gerry: 33%
    Eric: 40%
    Justin: 40%

EDGE Derrick Brown, Texas High (Texarkana, TX): The east Texas edge-backer really likes Sark, PK, and the gang. Just have to hold off… Baylor.

    Gerry: 50%
    Eric: 60%
    Justin: 60%

LB Harold Perkins, Cy-Fair (Cypress, TX)

    Gerry: 30%
    Eric: 10%
    Justin: 5%

LB Sebastian Cheeks, Township (Evanston, IL): Texas, UNC, and Michigan are battling, and Mack Brown would love a head-to-head win here.

    Gerry: 33%
    Eric: 40%
    Justin: 40%

LB Jeremy Patton, Tenaha (Tenaha, TX): As long as the Horns stay the course, this one trends Texas. Early September decision too.

    Gerry: 50%
    Eric: 60%
    Justin: 60%

CB Denver Harris, North Shore (Galena Park, TX): UT continues to push the right buttons here with an decision timeline likely in September.

    Gerry: 40%
    Eric: 60%
    Justin: 59%

DB Bryce Anderson, West Brook (Beaumont, TX): Anderson’s timeline is infinite. He could announce at anytime.

    Gerry: 53%
    Eric: 50%
    Justin: 50%

DB Larry Turner-Gooden, St. Bernard (Playa Del Rey, CA) (ARIZONA STATE)

    Gerry: 33%
    Eric: 50%
    Justin: 51%

    HOOPS

Keyonte George, SG, iSchool Academy (TX)
Texas continues to be in a good position for the 6-foot-4 guard. With official visits to Texas, Baylor, Kansas and Oklahoma State in the June rearview mirror, the question now is if Kentucky receives a fifth and final official visit. A November decision is likely.

    IT percentage: 75%

Arterio Morris, PG, iSchool Academy (TX)
The 6-foot-3 guard is yet to schedule official visits to Kansas, Georgia or Florida. Baylor is trying to make a run with the Bears facing uncertainty in the Cason Wallace recruitment. No firm decision timeline is set.

    IT percentage: 75%

Cason Wallace, CG, Richardson High (TX)
Texas head coach Chris Beard was very impressed with the in-person evaluation of Wallace two weeks ago. Now, Texas is trying to make a more concerted run at the versatile 6-foot-3 guard that is the best defender of the talented crop of in state guards. Problem for Texas right now, the SEC programs are ahead with Tennessee having a strong connection to Wallace and family.

    IT percentage: 30%

Anthony Black, CG, Coppell High (TX)
Black likes Texas. Issue here is fit if Arterio Morris were to pick the Longhorns. Black sees himself as a point guard, and while he is not a point guard, the schools that can show him that he is the primary in the class have the best shot to win out currently. Duke offer was huge, and Gonzaga is hanging around.

    IT percentage: 30%

    Kijani Wright, Windward School (CA)
Texas is very much in the hunt here, but the question remains if the Longhorns can win out for one of the top prospects in Los Angeles when the in-state schools are enjoying success. USC is considered the primary competition, but Stanford is also a factor and is expected to receive an official visit.

    IT percentage: 50%

Kel’el Ware, North Little Rock (AR)
The 6-foot-11 big man was Chris Beard’s first out-of-state offer after after being hired at Texas. Ware was originally scheduled to make an official visit to Texas in June, but that has been rescheduled for September 4th weekend. Arkansas, Memphis, USC, Ole Miss, Oregon and Kentucky are among the programs receiving the most mention in recent weeks.

For my well being I am going to assume a lot of this is anger from being so wrong/behind on the Banks recruitment. Taking out their bullshit on UT s ability to close. Jesus I hope so.

  6. 12 minutes ago, SarkAfterDark said:

IT was very adamant the pick was UT and didn't change their tune until they talked to Banks the morning of his commitment. Then gave the vague response on why they were wrong. I think we can deduce what happened here.

I know. That is what is the problem. Everyone on the planet knew Banks eliminated Texas prior and IT was clinging to fantasy. Even if bags were dropped IT was too stupid to pick up on that and should explain why they were the last ones in the world to see it. I assume they can’t.

Separately from the above and not IT related, I am curious as to the development of our bag game and why it is not more effective. We are bringing in seemingly random guys from the heart of Alabama and Georgia for visits like we have not done before and fighting known bag dropping schools for players that seem to consider only schools known for such activities so I deduce (along with hints from insiders) that we are ready to play the game.

hoping it just takes time to get an effective process in motion because we damn well need it.

They’re absolutely going to go scorched earth on the staff can’t close narrative to avoid admitting they just got completely outdone by the other schools’ 9.95ers, and all this while they swore up and down their source wasn’t a UT staffer.

I could be wrong but the first mention of “staff can’t close” was a @closetojumping source the day of or before the Cam announcement. Not a member of IT so not sure if it was floated there first.

I eagerly await the reaping of dividends from the tier 2 recruiting landscape that our staff is said to be implementing as outlined by ctj in an earlier post.

Perhaps banks falls under tier 1 as an outright mercenary that we can’t or won’t win? If not we were straight up beat by aggy or are not yet able or willing to do what is needed to land players that would fall into category 2.
