  1. Not sure how Looking out for #1 is pretzel logic. Seems pretty straight forward to me. Have you only had one job in your entire adult career? Because if you've ever left a job for a better paying one, guess what, you quit on your "team". Now maybe you don't actually contribute a lot and likely weren't missed. But in the real world, people make decisions based on what is optimal for their future as crazy as it sounds. Are we supposed to be mad at Ossai for declaring early? Our pass rush would certainly be better next year if he came back, and actually the next 2 years since this one was a freebie. Is he quitting on his team? The team's outcome for next year and the year after that is still unknown, unlike at the point this year when Cosmi opted out. Sam being injured (continually) is purely on Herman and Hand due to QB Power and bad line play. And those 2 have millions in the bank while Sam has an outside chance of making a scout team and Cosmi got free schooling and some burnt toast and runny eggs out of the deal. Like I said, it's a business. Cosmi made a business decision to protect his future at a point when it had the minimal impact on his team. And I don't blame him one bit.
  2. Did Cosmi quit on the team. Yes. Did he have potentially valid reasons to do so. Absolutely. These kids don't get paid. Yeah, they get free schooling etc. But they don't get PAID. He has the right to do what he decides is in the best interest of his future. What if he is playing and gets rolled up on instead of Kerstetter in that game. Now maybe you could argue that he should take an insurance policy out to mitigate an injury risk. I don't know how those work. I would think you pretty much have to be a real top tier player to get any substantial settlement without paying a huge premium. And not just some bs preseason mock from Kiper saying you're going to go in the first round when anyone with two eyes knows that is complete and utter crap. At the end of the day, the point of college is to help you get a job that pays you money. I don't blame him one bit for opting out after the writing was on the wall and the team had nothing meaningful left to play for. Winning out to secure Herman's future? Please. The Alamo or Cheeze It Bowl? Such a racket. Nobody cares about bowl games unless they are the playoffs. Now if we still had a shot to win something meaningful (assuming you consider winning the Big 12 this year meaningful) then yeah, he shouldn't have opted out. And he didn't. But after that was no longer an option, I have no problem with him opting out. Hell, I was excited to get some of the younger kids playing time. Bottom line, college football is a business. And he made a business decision. I can't fault him for that.
  3. Sark needs a new slogan. All Gas, No Brakes, But Surly and Big Money Donors Take the Wheel
  4. I don't have time to watch all those games. But maybe you should. Yes, Snyder was a great coach. But you are assuming that because Coleman was associated with him, he has to be a great coach as well. Guess what. Mike Stoops was also part of the Snyder tree. And he coached with him back when K-State was actually good. But you seemed opposed to that hire (thank god it sounds like not legit) Although I didn't have time to watch games like you suggested, I did look up some stats quickly. During Coleman's time at K-State under Snyder, their winning percentage was 58%. The last year when Coleman was elevated to Offensive Coordinator, they finished 5-7 and averaged 162 yards per game passing. Over Colemans tenure at K-state they averaged less than 200 ypg passing. Does that mean he can't coach WR or has a good offensive mind? Of course not. But it is certainly not a positive data point. I don't know whether or not Coleman can be a successful WR coach here or not. But let's not act like it's a gimme because the legendary Coach Snyder had him on his staff. From what I'm seeing, both direct and indirect evidence, the jury is still out. Hell, Sark tried to hire another WR coach over Coleman and was told no. So here we sit. Not sure what else to say other than the dude needs to prove himself. Not sure how that is debatable tbh.
  5. If I recall, it seems like Herman hunted around outside for a while and sure seemed like he settled for Coleman because he couldn't convince any other quality wr coach to come here. He definitely didn't have some pre-arranged agreement to promote him after he he fired Meh. I recall the players having to push for him to get that job. But you're right, there is No Telling. Certain things just don't add up. Maybe there is a valid reason. Maybe not. That's why I have him on the list to prove it. Hopefully he does. Again, this is why I have him on the list to prove it. I'm not saying all the theories about him just being absolutely handcuffed by Herman are not possible. He could very well be a great coach. But there are some things in the narrative that at least make me question it a little. And I don't care what Herman is telling him to teach the kids to do. If your entire position group repeatedly can't get off the LOS against press coverage, then I'm sorry, you go behind Herman's back and teach them how to on your own!
  6. My thought is that if he is that great of a coach, why did he end up here as an off field analyst instead of getting a better gig somewhere else. And when he was promoted to on field coach, the wr group didn't improve markedly. Now hypothesis is that is because of Herman's meddling. But I'm not close enough to the situation to know that for sure. So to assume that he is a slam dunk, no-brainer of a hire I think is a little bit presumptuous at this point. Clearly the wide receivers in the room like him. But I'd like to see if we can beat press coverage next year. Because even if Herman was meddling, I would have though he still should have at least been able to pass on that knowledge last year. Put me firmly in the camp that says he needs to prove himself.
  7. Probably because Overshown improved dramatically and LB recruiting actually wasn't horrendous for the first time in forever.
  8. Only needs 4 degrees, because Pole Assassin knows way more people than Kevin Bacon.
  9. Was anything definitive said on Carrington's status or are we in wait and see mode still? Love the coaching ability on defensive side of the ball, but sure would like to hang onto Carrington to help recruit as it seems the defensive staff could be a little behind the offensive side as far as recruiting ability. I'm sure Sark has his support staff as well, but BC has the current local connections and could help us not have any hop-off issues through the transition.
  10. He was told he must hire coordinators that have prior NFL experience. Also, He's likely going to hire Ash as D-Coordinator LOL Would have welcomed him here as coach, but kind of glad I can root for his failure again. Interested to see if he can be successful in the league.
  11. https://www.kendrascott.com/careers.html Seasonal Fulfillment Associate position is available.
  12. Recruiting is really hard when you don't have any monkeys on your side.
  13. Yep. And he likely won't even be on the field that much until he proves he can pick up blitzes. He wasn't ever asked to do that in high school. Their offense was give it to Brooks and get out of the way. I don't necessarily agree with how long our coaches have historically held out freshman for their perceived lack of knowledge or what have you. But there is certainly a learning curve. That is part of the reason Bijan didn't get as much play early on as well. ROJO is going to be the #2 back next year. Which is fine because he is pretty darn good. Doesn't mean Brooks can't be good long term. It just is what is is.
  14. Agree. Wasn't arguing for Whittington to be moved back to RB. Was simply stating that we can't count on Brooks to be a stud next year. Small school high school ball surprisingly doesn't necessarily translate to immediate college success. Doesn't mean Brooks can't be great. Just means there is going to be a period of adjustment and we shouldn't count on him for immediate help.
  15. Well he ran for 334 yards in the title game mainly from the QB position, and that is what led us to decide he could be a RB instead of a WR when he came in as a freshman because Brown was our other RB signee and had a medical issue.
  16. Small school. Whittington was awesome as a QB running it too. Brooks can be great. He's got balance and vision. That is a great skillset. But what used to be a hole in his games vs small school teams, isn't going to be a hole going forward. It's not his fault or a sign that he can't figure it out. It's just going to take time to adjust.
  17. nope ninfas was second. ex students first. What starts here, changes Tex-Mex
  18. It sounds like it's been a head vs heart thing plus the fact that he supposedly has some of his inner network pushing aggy. But we have a new coach that has proven he can utilize a rb correctly, and we kept Drayton whom he likes, and LJ and Bijan are apparently close. It seems like we should have the momentum. He had every reason to pick a&m up until this point, but hasn't. I think this ends in our favor hopefully. We'll see.
  19. Sounds like Urban's staff should take place fairly quickly in JAX, so LJ should have all the information he needs regarding if Drayton is staying or leaving in time for him to make an educated decision. So either A) Drayton stays which seems likely and probably helps us with LJ, or B) he leaves which probably means we lose LJ, but then use Banks to go hard after flipping Wheaton. I wrote earlier that losing Drayton might be a win/win long term for all parties involved. I think we could probably find a better recruiter at the RB Coach position, but given we have Banks, that isn't as high of a priority as it was previously. Plus, Carrington won't have to carry the load for recruiting 4 position groups anymore, he can probably be more effective on specific targets where necessary. I'm kind of still indifferent either way, but I guess leaning towards hoping Drayton stays since Bijan seems to really like him and he does appear to be regarded as a quality coach on the field. Recruiting will be much easier going forward with this staff and hopefully improved on field results as well.
  20. Carrington's job just got a hell of a lot easier
  21. I'm specifically talking about the plays he calls to hit their best player who is running in motion behind the line of scrimmage. If our O-line can't hold up long enough for that, then yeah, we're in trouble LOL
  22. Nice. Great way to (Re)start the 2022 class. We've got to start keeping these guys in state. Even if we can't get Ewers back, we have to stem the tide and not let him and Burton convince any other '22 Texas kids to join them at OSU.
  23. Not a terrible idea. Hopefully it won't be necessary though. I know Whittington isn't necessarily a burner, but I think Jake Smith, Dixon, and a few others have more straight line speed. There is a huge difference in what it appears Sark is able to do do by hitting those guys in stride at a full sprint behind the line of scrimmage in space vs what we do with hitting them standing still while the DB is in the process of rapidly closing on them after having avoided the block from our TE that is split out wide that isn't a good blocker, or blowing up the block from the physically imposing Kai Money. I think we have enough of the pieces already on the team (obviously not to the level of DeVonta, but enough to work with). I'm so excited about having Sark unlock these kids potential and put them in position to succeed.
  24. I'm not the best at the Google, but looks like classes start on the 19th. So assuming LJ will be deciding probably by the end of next week since I think he was planning on enrolling early. Doesn't leave much time for Sark to make an impression. But I'd assume Urban to the NFL should be settled by then, and likely Drayton as well. If Sark can get him (or keep him depending on who you are listening to) on board in 4 or so days, that'll be a pretty good sign of potential recruiting prowess moving forward I'd think. I mean, it is college station and all, but their Running game did look pretty dang solid this year.
