  1. 100%. And it will be all non-mask wearers because the people that believe it helps are going to stay home. Motherfucker just added 6 months to my family from not spending money in bars, restaurants, theaters, you name it.  And whether it spreads during food prep or not, I felt better when the staff was all masked up.  Business will suffer if/when rates begin to rise.  He could have easily opened all business and kept mask mandate.  Ignorant af.

Yup. Several places I once frequented are already out of the rotation because they were lax about mask requirements.
    To me this means:
)1 They don’t really care about their employees
)2 They don’t really care about their customers

  2. Less Risk, More Reward

The shift in focus from the United States to Europe was a no-brainer for international drug traffickers, especially those in Colombia.

Traffickers face enormous risks in moving drugs to the United States, whose government has spent billions of dollars on seizing drug loads and extraditing traffickers, said InSight Crime Co-director Jeremy McDermott. As a result, Colombian traffickers have come to prefer lucrative European markets.

“A kilogram of cocaine is worth $28,000 wholesale in the United States. That same kilogram in Europe fetches around $40,000 with much less risk,” said McDermott.

  4. Heard them on KPFT back in early 80s and special shout out to them for forming Ralph Records.

Oh wow forgot about them. Saw them at The Arcadia in Dallas on Valentines Day ‘86. Crazy show. Looks like they are playing The Kessler next month.

  5. There are some issues raised by the collection of data by the FBI.
I'm happy as a clam for Congress to be on the wrong end of it, they're the ones who fund it and basically authorize it.
But, hey, if you didn't do anything wrong, what do you have to worry about?  Amirite?

I think if I had a choice I would rather the FBI mine my data than Google. FBI probably won’t annoy me by trying to coerce me into buying some shit I don’t need.

  6. Scheduled for the 24th in Collin County and received this yesterday:

    “Dear Vaccine Recipient:
Your second vaccine dose will be here next week; however, an exact delivery date is not known. The recent, historic winter storms may delay shipping. Once we receive an anticipated shipment date,
you will receive another email with specific details related to your appointment for your second vaccine. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

  7. Yes. Which part? If I’d slept at all the last 5 days I’d probably remember.

I’d totally forgotten about the flower sellers here too.

Finished it. Was he/she the one who started the whole street corner flower seller stuff? Same thing was going on in D/FW about the same time.

There’s something fitting about this and Biden’s quick and apolitical response in contrast with the Republican response. So many Texans despise AOC and Biden yet they still do it because doing the right thing matters. The Republican response has been to lie and politicize this or in Ted’s case, just bail. And none of it will matter on the long run.
It’s our current environment in condensed form. It’s normal, decent humanity vs. craven degeneracy.

Biden is just sitting in the White House talking on the phone. If he was a real leader he would have come down here and tossed out mittens.

  9. I wanted to see if I could find out if that was actually Texarkana by zooming in on a business sign in that video. I googled the sign that said Tri-State Auto Sales and that is legit also because of the street location for the business. I am guessing someone flew a drone overhead to get that footage.

Yup. That’s State Line Avenue. Three big Liquor stores are just south of there.

  10. I dunno, they say Honiara is the Paris of the South Pacific.
Also-cool idea for a WWII movie because you mentioned fighting in caves...  Allies are clearing Paris, but the Nazis take to the famed underground catacombs of Paris to fight as guerillas.  The Nazis are successful at repelling the Allies.  Until the 6 million Frenchmen buried down there come to life as zombies and eat the Nazis.  It's a real thinkpiece.
Watched 'Up Periscope' on y'all's recommendation.  pos rep

Actually Manilla was pretty fierce urban combat. The Luzon liberation was one of the largest bloodiest battles of the war. Yamashita actually sent most of his troops to Northern Luzon where they spent months rooting them out.

It did have some good Hollywood storylines.
McArthur returns and his opposing General, Yamashita was executed for war crimes in an historic case. It is also rumored he left a treasure in gold hidden in caves in Northern Luzon.

  11. Several years before that, when I was in 6th or 7th grade, we had a massive ice storm that knocked out our power for like three days.
I was sick as shit and my parents put the couch in front of the fireplace and kept a fire going.  My Dad went to work every day, though.
Hit New Years Even 1978 according to the intergoogles.

I remember that. Was living in Denton. By midnight there was about a 1/2 inch of solid ice on the streets. So weird because it was as smooth and clear as a pane of glass.

“New Year's Eve 1978 was the worst ice storm in North Texas in three decades, producing ice accumulations up to 2 inches thick in a 100 mile-wide swath from just west of Waco to Paris, Texas.”
