  1. More recently cause they pass on calling that. All the time. And when dudes crowd the plate. And the ball is over the plate. That wasn’t near the plate. Simple minded idiots. Same reason they call shit 3-4 inches off the plate a strike. But damned if it’s a quarter inch low right over the plate.
  2. He strikes out damn near 50% of the time. Galvan is not quite there yet. But I’d likely give him a shot at some point.
  3. Umps need to go. The shit to Daly was inside. And on the low side. The shit to the Stanford dude was right over the plate. Flores was hit. All momentum adjusting shit.
  4. Look at his last 4 appearances and you’ll get it.
  5. I can’t imagine he’d come back tonight. Yet, it wouldn’t surprise me. Dudes probably warming up right now.
  6. 17 out of 31 is not as good as I would have thought. Effectively a bit wild? Thomas and Campbells pitches were strikes but who knows about the others.
  7. I for one am glad we took a bunch of pitches. Otherwise, he’s starting again tonight.
  8. Yeah both teams will take whoever can throw an inning into the mix. As for Dowd, his maximum number of pitches for a weekend is 77. He has not thrown 50 pitches then come back again and be successful that same weekend. Against UW he threw 49 and came back and gave up a run in 1 inning. His max in the best circumstances has been 3. Typically he throws fewer pitches in the first weekend game then comes back a second time. Dixon doesn’t go more than 6 on his best day. He hasn’t pitched more than once per weekend when starting that weekend. Their overall numbers are a bit better than average under usual circumstances. That’s on us if they are significant factors today. Dugan and Scott are the biggest threats. Scott has only 1 good performance in the last month. Bruno is a wildcard, but he’s likely to be needed for them. It’s all a crapshoot on what you get.
  9. Yeah, play the game. We have the best arms available of the two teams when you talk stuff, experience and achievement. Morehouse and Witt are those guys. Then we have Hurley. You’ve got probably Gordon, Lummus and Whitehead to knock out some lefties. If we can’t put together a respectable effort out of that, then multiple dudes just flat out didn’t get it done. Dowd hasn’t pitched multiple games in one weekend when he throws 50+ pitches very often. So he’ll have to do something he hasn’t all year if he’s to have success beyond one inning. Dugan is likely a guy that we will need to succeed at hitting today. He was big for them in the regional and will be fresh. Stanford will have capable arms, but those same arms are capable of mediocre to poor performances too. We need to hit. It’s been the story all season. If the top of the lineup produces, we succeed. Here lately even if the top 4 gets hits, they aren’t big ones - extra bases or with runners on. One big inning versus Miami but other than that offensive production has been pretty poor. The game 1 9th inning was incredibly effective, but it wasn’t due to hitting the ball. We’re lucky to be in game 3. It is a toss up. Which players have a day? Who knows. I think Pierce has the tougher job getting his team mentally focused simply because we don’t have many confident hitters right now.
  10. Yeah probably. Double digit strikeouts in half his starts? He’s a pitcher.
  11. I don’t have that but tonight but 3 walks and 5 hits came with two strikes. ( not including the last two hits) Think 7 of those started 1-2.
  12. Pretty sure you argued against this being a big deal.
  13. None of them do. That’s Williams/Pierce. We struggle closing the deal with two strikes. That’s not a tonight deal either. That’s a significant reason why.
  14. Not a single pitch at the shoulders with 2 strikes. That’s one reason Stanford is laying off the low stuff.
  15. ODowd is not sub 250. And he’s batting 6th because he has pop, strikes out a lot, doesn’t take pitches and doesn’t walk.
  16. Wakes ERA is in the 2s and easily lower than everyone else’s. No one else is sub-3. Bamas is around top 10. But Wakes offense is incredibly productive too.
  17. I choose to believe that said poster got few hits but got on due to many errors.
  18. They didn’t submit a bid due to hosting Special Olympics this weekend.
  19. I’m curious what you mean by this. But on scoring, there are some oddities. A sac fly doesn’t negatively impact your batting average but a groundout does. RBI for both. Are you saying there should be no errors?
  20. Maybe he was. No one looks worse at the plate than EK versus quite a few lefties. Except when he bunts.
  21. In the last three weeks, he’s not your worst hitter. And he had a good swing his prior AB. He has 1 of the two maybe three best swings today.
