  1. Will Allen and Jon Scott were gone after the ‘05 season. Blalock, Sendlein and Studdard left after ‘06. Colts 2nd season as QB had none of the starters from the championship team.
  2. Aggies just had their best CWS run. We aren’t our best but we’re up there. DBU. Tech, TCU are talented but not peak CWS. But that really isn’t their history. SHSU is solid. Now BU, Rice are pitiful. Houston is down. I do think there are more quality players spread thru the country.
  3. You didn’t read Baseball America? They got Texas and Maine right.
  4. Is it? Not the remarkable part but the shitty part.
  5. Thems is the rules. So fair. But the next Fresno State just got booted. (No idea whether they were an at large team)
  6. Yes, that’d be fine. Washington as the 3. Would it be possible for them to travel further? Maine is the 4. All pretty regional.
  7. That’s now Texas as a 2 at Miami. Paired with Virginia.
  8. There is generally a shortage of top flight starters this year so getting proven guys out of the portal for next year will be difficult for everyone. You’d hope to get 1 but you’d be incredibly lucky to get two. You would think Texas is a destination school but who knows who’d money whip that big time arm. Of the top 20 guys in ERA, 12 are juniors or seniors. Only 1 of the 8 is from a big school - Wake. He’s probably penciled as their #1 next year. I don’t see why he’d transfer even more so if they play into late June. The truth of the matter is that a Sthele or a Morehouse have better upsides than most guys out there. They’ve also flashed that potential on more than one occasion. Minchey could be a guy next year. We’re overdue for frosh to be productive on the mound.
  9. We will be about as good a 1-2 punch as anyone. 13th overall in ERA - 5th from P5 conferences. Shaw and Toles availability is very much needed but not critical. Lummus and Whitehead from the left side. Hurley, Sthele, Morehouse and DuPlantier from the right side with Witt as a wildcard. If we’re hitting, we’re probably a top 20 offense. We have 6 guys hitting over .300. We have 5 with double digit HRs. O’Dowd is hitting .286 with a little pop. The other guys are capable of contributing something. Our OBP and slugging are comparable to top 10-20 teams. We’re very solid in the field. We may have comparable range as any Texas team in the outfield. The outfield arms and infield for that matter may not be the strongest, but they are accurate and effective. The talent is not overwhelming, but it’s very solid. Pierce needs to push some of the right buttons particularly with his bullpen selections. The key will be Gordon and LBJ 6 innings at a minimum. If we don’t win the regional, it’s a disappointing season. It’s tough to hit the road, but we’ve competed well.
  10. So he can pick his team now and be ready for a regional/super regional?
  11. My ass. That’s just an excuse. If so, shouldn’t a Super Regional be the same?
  12. Is Tole out for certain?
  13. Taylor Doyle and Marcus Hutchins were our two most reliable OL in 2013 or 14, whatever year it was, and y’all are giving them shit.
  14. Do ass chewings make you hit better?
  15. What was the falling out with Burke? Thought he was a Williams guy.
  16. Probably not. It wouldn’t really matter anyway. I will say if the Aggies win another, they may jump us in RPI though.
  17. How do feel about the Aggies being a 2 seed and us a 3?
  18. We will be now. Unfortunately, it is too late.
  19. Think of the money you dudes are saving by not going to Austin for a regional.
  20. Yelling and throwing things when it’s not going well = leadership.
  21. I believe Hookem said Powell is dealing with a bum back and that field work would be questionable.
  22. I’m curious about the disparity. How many ABs versus lefties and quite frankly were they shitty lefties. And I know we won’t have access to all those numbers. It’s also the fact that Shaw has been more consistent.
  23. I’ve not seen a study done, but I’d guess the majority of guys coming off Tj surgery come out of the pen. Maybe not as a closer. Early on in that comeback you can dictate a guys warm up time with pretty good certain by predetermining what inning he’s coming in. And like chase said, once he’s in and sitting between innings, there’s no difference. My question would be how long could he go and how often. If he can go up to 3 innings on two outings a weekend, that’s his role. We’ve lost more games not finishing than getting to the late innings. Losing Burke hurts, but we’ve still got several options. DPs unpredictability out of the pen ultimately hurts. Still baffled about Shaw up but not brought in yesterday. If Witt maxes out at 5 innings, that is a significant limitation relative to what he could bring out of the bullpen.
  24. Seems a shame UCONN can beat Butler and Georgetown by 1 run and not falter. That’s worse than losing to KU and their pitcher.
