  1. He’s got 4 potential 1st rounders on offense with him along with Brooks and #1 recruit Baxter. Worthy is open all the damn time. We won 2 games without him including against possibly the second best team on our schedule. You are right. He did lead a final drive vs ISU. 9 runs, 2 passes. A great grab by Bijan on one, and Worthy absolutely abusing the DB in the other. Maybe he did versus Baylor too. He doesn’t carry the fucking team and that’s a disservice to every other member of that team that does their
  2. Bama we basically ran it out the last 7 minutes. He had a nice finish the drive before. The throw to end TCU depends on perspective. Mitchell was wide open and made a great catch. He was good last night but protection was too and receivers were open. Like MM or not, we scored late to beat Houston and got the late FG versus KSU to take the lead after he made the big throw to Sanders on 4th. I don’t think there’s enough yet to consider him a gamer.
  3. To some degree, but there is so much more data available these days. People won’t like it, but he’s trying to be more of a game manager this year. It’s working. His completion percentage is up but average depth of target is down 20% or so. His long ball numbers lack, he doesn’t suffer from lack of weapons, coaching or a system. He’s not pressured at all high rate and his passing has a high play action rate. His pros are arm and potential for anticipation. His cons are durability and lack of proving to lead a team/carry them. I don’t recall him leading a game winning drive late. That’s not to say he can’t. He could have finished OU but didn’t. yes, the defense gave it up but one more first down and it was over. He’s shown more mobility but that’s likely a minimal factor miniml future consideration.
  4. Things evolve. I would expect in breaking routes to be completed at a relatively high rate. What’s the average completion rate - 60-65%? Deep down the field and outside the hashes doesn’t build that up. In just the last week, I’ve scanned probably half if not more P5 QBs and their pass distribution. I did not put it to paper but every QB attacked the middle of the field more than outside either hash. Number of attempts and completion percentage. Many of those QBs do not go to their backside from their throwing side. As a stand alone stat, completion percentage means little to me. And if there are limited relative comparisons, then it is less so. For QBs, crossing routes are easier throws than go routes. Middle of the field throws are easier than sideline throws. Better sight sidelines. Less air time which allows for less defensive reaction time. Receivers aren’t running away from you. If we’re running a ton of cover 4 or cover 2 in combination, you’re not going inside leverage. If you believe your corners are more vulnerable down the field in man, I could see outside leverage given the perceived risks. If you’re trying to disguise, inside leverage may be an indicator for the offense.
  5. Did it hurt us? Not really. The PI on Watts down the field kept a drive alive and led to points. I can’t imagine our CBs are not doing as instructed. I can allow for reasons for differences in instruction. Take away the 4th and 1 TD, we allowed 9 points. I can live with that. Our 3rd down defense was again on point.
  6. I’d like to know our percentage breakdown of coverages. Our alignment could be to disquise coverage. Could be we feel more vulnerable outside than inside. I’ve read quite a bit about slants. Those have not been killers this year. And they weren’t last night.

  8. You damn people. The incessant blaming is something else. I’d suggest reasonable expectations. We’re far from perfect on the roster. I’m not sure the University of Texas has ever had the roster some of you wish we had. We are fortunate to have Sweat and Murphy. They make it all go. But still bitching about safety play. That 4th and 1 was terrible, but that’s as much on PK. He was going for the killshot, but that’s the type of play that keeps them in the game. Don’t bring the S that tight to the LOS and ask him to not be aggressive. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t crappy play but understand why it happened. Every game we’ve struggled it’s for varied and really different reasons. But damned if we don’t mess our drawers over our pass coverage and never think to compare to how open our receivers are every game.

  10. Yep. On this one there’s a chance Whittington get just as many yards if Worthy gets a block. But 95% conversion of the first versus 60% or whatever I take the higher.
  11. This is an interesting concept.

I was focused on the angle so maybe he was slow. My actual thought was he was trying to fill the gap between CB and LB. Whatever it was nobody made the play.

Different things yes. But the narrative about the backups is off base. That Savion play had the ball caught in front of Brooks. Hill and Ford were in. Even Crawford plays a lot including half the snaps versus Bama. That’s not backups. The entire secondary was not really at play either. The LBs were a problem on that play. Two secondary missed opportunities but as I watched it again I don’t feel Crawfords angle was that bad. TCU shortcomings were different than KSU shortcomings. Part of the Houston problems may have been overcompensating after Gabriel ran for 100. People latch onto shit that’s not totally a repeat issue. Then assume our problems are not the same as 98% of other schools. Yet across the board we’re better than 95+%.
  14. I had forgotten til now, but he got up slow earlier after making a tackle. Maybe 1st half. On that Wylie catch, he was waving Ford to get Wylie because he wasn’t able to run. Don’t think he came back in. Remember he missed part of Houston so he’s banged up. I’ll miss that dude when he’s gone. Maybe as much as Daly.
  15. Could be on Hill. We’re probably in good shape if Burke doesn’t run upfield. My point is not to isolate Barron but to say it’s a little bit of everyone. Gimpy or not, it was a big play. For him, I do believe he’s best around the Los. But that’s not surprising for aggressive guys. Yes, he did come up gimpy on that play and Guilbeau came in..
  16. In the highlights that resulted in TCUs TDs, it was TCU taking advantage of different persons and others not helping their teammates. Hill seems to get wide in his drops before he gets depth. That’s similar to our issues in 2021 and first half of 2022. Similarly we are too aggressive to the flat. As a QB you pretty much want that WR underneath rather than the RB. But they threw on Barron twice. Brooks. Watts. The TD run was between Broughton and Burke, who got upfield. Again not sure what Hill is doing. The TD between Taafe and Ford was a solid throw. Again if we cause some QB hesitation, Ford probably gets there.
  17. Yes, it’s more than one thing. It’s a bit different each game. I’m sitting here on YouTube when I should not be. We’re up 26-6. 2nd and 11. The backup Dline is in. I’m not sure what Hill is supposed to do, but in my humble opinion, he does a crappy job. He chases the back to the flat rather than squeezing the curl a bit that still would allow for an easy tackle in the flat. Encourage the throw to the flat and play 3rd and 8. Then Ford gets a terrible angle as does Crawford. 40 yards later TCU has a drive. Multiple culprits, but the first two were the starting LBs.

True but look at schedules again. OhioState, Georgia. Washington, Oregon have all had close games in which they didn’t runaway with in the end. Pretty much always even the best of the best have close games.
  19. Absolutely.
  20. It’s certainly not the singular reason, but our offense did not keep the pressure on. Let’s not forget special teams made mistakes too. Same thing versus KSU when we had what 16/17 possessions. Yes, I’d like the defense to shut them down. I’d also like the offense to convert more than the occasional 3rd down. And score 7 in the 2nd half (I guess the 5 yard possession vs KSU counts). In your opinion what is a reasonable snap distribution? All players and all units need to pick it up. But we won.
  21. You don’t blow teams out scoring 29. Was there more than one replay? The only one I saw was nothing. As I mentioned elsewhere, unless they get updated, Sweat and Murphy played their most numbers of snaps and highest snap percentage to date. Maybe as it cools they can stretch it out.

Yep. Think it was USCs last TD so not real impactful.
