Admit it. You tell everyone you're a Spaniard.
Funny thing is, when I was a wee one, my mom enjoyed scandalizing the white Houston oilfield trash with whom we mostly associated. People would hear my name, and so as to avoid even the hint of suggesting that I was low-born, they'd ask "oh...is he Spanish?" My mother would grin, and cigarette in hand, would answer "naah...he's a little mexican."
My mom was a tacky bitch, and lord did she have fun with it.

My interpretation: "We can't afford to be wrong about Trump for a third time but can afford to be wrong about Harris."
That's also exactly how the voters should look at it.
If we elect Trump, the damage done will be incalculable, and cannot be recovered from in a generation, if at all.
If we elect Harris and she turns out to be a shitty president, we can replace her in 4 years with somebody better, and the damage will be manageable.

I don't mean that just as a sleight on religion, she very openly is honest about distorting the truth to "protect" her kids from things she doesn't think they should know about. Like school shootings? Her kids flat out don't know about those, they think the drills are all hypothetical. My mom was taking care of my nephew once and mentioned something about a recent shooting and was shocked to learn about how they're cut off from that kind of news. She's the "all kinds of music except country music contains devil subliminal messages" kind of person that has her kids terrified of accidentally hearing rap music. She lies to them about their race. Their father is adopted and of course that's a HUGE no no secret, they can NEVER learn that. She's a vaccine denier, she tells her kids all sorts of ignorant horror stories about vaccines. The amount of shit my sister lies to her kids about honestly astounds me, it's such a shitty and disrespectful way to treat her own kids. One day her kids are going to learn the truth about all this stuff and they'll hopefully never trust her opinions on shit again.
Your sister is a fucking cunt.

but everything he hears about is how Trump is a bad man and he asks about it and we just explain to him in plain English not in some weird partisan way that the way Trump behaves and the things he does are not good for anyone to do. It's not about being political, it's about teaching your kids that being a scoundrel piece of shit isn't ok.
Explaining simple, true things to kids is pretty fucking important and formative. Case in point: when the Watergate hearings were happening, every network covered them. Including PBS. Which meant that toddler Brisket didn't get to watch his daily Sesame Street. When I asked my mom what was going on, she explained to me "a very important man did something bad. And it's not just that he did something bad, but he lied about it." That was it. I wasn't even 4 years old, and I fucking REMEMBER it, it was important. It was TRUE, and it's a principle that guides me to this day.
Tell your kids in the plainest terms: the problem with Trump is that he lies all the time. The problem with Trump is that he picks on people weaker than him. The problem with Trump is that he gets people to like him by preaching hatred and calling other people names, not by doing good things.

This new trend of my 11 year old nephew and 8 year old niece both having a different favorite fox news anchor is not at all how I was raised.
Make sure to lecture your 11 year old nephew on the importance of picking the Fox News anchor with the biggest tits. Because it sure can't be on the basis of anything intelligent Fox News anchors have to say, so go with the proper criterion.

You should go door to door and tell them that. And you do, consider, who signed the repeal of Glass Steagal? Who implemented NAFTA? Who implemented TARP? Who made the decision not to break anybody up or prosecute the leadership of firms that created the financial crisis? Who signed the bill that made the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts permanent? Who declined to sever the connection between healthcare and employment insurance? Hey, who was married to the guy who signed the repeal of Glass Steagal? Oh, right. The 2016 Democratic Nominee. Who authored and co-sponsored the 2005 bankruptcy bill that stripped protections from millions and unleashed a wash of private student loans? The 2020 Democratic Nominee.
Here's a famous chart - did the trendline change when Democrats were in power?
I'm all in on defeating Trump and Trumpism, but the idea that Democrats have been champions of the American middle class over the last 30 years is utter horseshit.
"Champions?" Far from it. And dude, you've heard my rants on the "Bankruptcy Reform Act" from Biden for nearly 20 years. Even today, I'd tell him to his face that it was utter fuckery -- I vacation every year with one of his former Senate advisors, and I told HIM as much, and he nodded sheepishly, knowing it was fuckery.
But in the contest between who has been better for the white bottom third (because that's who we're talking about here, let's not pussyfoot about it) over the past 30 years, it's not even fucking close.
I sure as shit want Dems to do better....but let's also be fucking honest, once Newt declared war on compromise - a war that fucking worked - there wasn't much positive going to happen for the American people. Maybe you've forgotten the fact that this is one of the many reasons I live on the ledge: THE GQP HAS WON. If there's something out there that's remotely beneficial to the American people, they oppose it and put a stop to it. With a nearly 100% success rate. The main things our government manages to accomplish these days are things that FUCK the people, not things that help. Every single thing that has been of benefit to those folks over the past 30 years has been either something snuck past the goalie, or just a rear-guard action by the Dems to keep bad things from happening.
Your logical fallacy is bullshit. The Dems aren't the champions of the American middle class. But they are damned well the only thing standing between the middle class and the prowling mob of leopards just outside, determined to eat the middle class's face.

Naah. I've just been in the persuasion game long enough to learn that you don't convince "stupid" with facts and logic. You slather on the irrelevant bullshit. The more dishonest/disingenuous, the better.
TLDR; Dems need to learn to lie to the idiot class as well as the GQP lies to them. Lies are all they want to hear, lies are all that moves the needle, so fucking LIE TO THEM.

They feel like they don't. But they're fucking wrong.
Just one easy example: rural broadband. That's a Biden-Harris issue, not a Trump one.
Another easy example: massive reinvestment in manufacturing (see chip production). A shitload of those jobs are perfect for the Trumpy class.
They still have things that Trump and Project 2025 want to fucking take away (SS, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.).
They don't SEE anything because they don't look for shit except what's on their chosen platforms.
And the hell of it is, there is no way to ever, ever get them to see. They won't look. They can't look. We just have to fucking do what we can with their idiocy dragging us down.

It’s almost like the goal is discord and violence with the election just being the mechanism to achieve it.
Someone in a position of power needs to send a very fucking clear message to these fucknuts.
"Some of you seem to want violence. You talk about your 'second amendment rights,' and 'seeking retribution' against the opposition. You need to understand one thing, very, very clearly. If you are dumb enough to start shooting, we the American people will shoot back. You aren't the only people who own weapons. We just don't cosplay about it. But I promise you - there are millions of Americans who can, will, and are ready to shoot back if you take up arms against our country and the people in it. You in the back, you hear me? You best fucking hear me."

My neighbors would be gone and the food would fucking suck.
I mentioned this before, but it's actually a real-deal, and how we should look at our fellow human beings as an asset, not a liability.
The boy has lived overseas in the UK and Germany the past several years. When he was home for Xmas this last year, as we were running errands on N. Lamar, he sighed and commented "man...I really miss mexicans. It's just something I grew up so used to, and you really notice their absence over there." He went on to talk about how it wasn't just the food, it was the vibe. Generally happy folks, often going to or from working hard. Just, literally, the kinds of attitudes and behaviors you WANT to see in your neighbors.
A generation ago, we would describe someone wearing work boots and a hard hat from sunup to sundown during the week, then having a backyard bbq with lots of family and friends, as the ideal American. Now.....we hate him, because he's brown and speaks spanish. WTF? Hispanics are great Americans. They are, quite often, the best of us.

Texas still has medical malpractice lawsuits?
It does. And killing a young adult with proven wage-earning capacity is one of the few suits that can yield real damages (economic damages are not capped, only non-economic ones. So, you can kill a baby pretty much for free (real pro-life state we got here, right?), but if you kill mom and she has any evidence of wage-earning capacity, you're fucked on damages. Never mind the sickness of a "pro-life" state only treating your life worthwhile if you have proven evidence of earning wages, that's the law in Texas, the most "pro-life" state in America!)

Honestly, Moore predicting a Harris win is the FIRST piece of news that gives me any hope. Because, yeah, MM and I were on exactly the same page in 2016. We saw the writing on the wall, shouted all the warnings we could, but we were just voices lost in all the noise.
If MM is seeing a Harris win - and MM sees the people and kind of voters who actually will decide this thing - then that's a good indicator for us.
Man....she foin. And always has been.
