  1. Ewers hasn’t even been that bad. Everyone else on offense is playing like fucking garbage except for maybe Sanders and Cain.
  2. Even limp dick James Click could have closed the Vazquez deal.
  3. Why even consider making that kind of trade to begin with when you're $30M+ under the CBT? Didn't they fire the GM because he wasn't spending enough money and landing splash free agents? lol
  4. Varsho will cost one of their starting pitchers (besides Urquidy) and then some. Even then, I don't see how he's a big upgrade to what they have currently unless he can competently catch >700 innings a season, which he's only come close to once in his career in AA. Two of the Astros best prospects are catchers, with one of them having a bat good enough to play other positions. Might as well get an economical compliment to Maldy and see if Lee or Diaz can develop into something. To be fair the Astros probably should trade Leon to anyone willing to give up anything for him. Another season of mediocrity and he won't be worth anything.
  5. I think the Astros will attempt a six man again thud season, but I think teams are well aware of its value. However you have to have a ton of quality SP depth to pull it off. A starter getting blown up in the second inning is much more costly to a team using a six man rotation - your starters have to perform for it to work. The Astros have six legit MLB caliber starting pitchers without adding any from free agency. They also gave Bielak and guys like JP France around for spot starts and the like. France’s projected ERA for 2023 is around 4.0, which is incredible for an org’s maybe seventh best SP. Then there are guys like Melendez, Arrighetti, Gordon, and Ullola coming behind them.
  6. Well then, additional periods of extratime with the winner being the team leading at the end of the given extratime period. Beyond being dumb and injecting a ton of luck into the outcome, it seems the current rules would to some extent incentivize underdogs to play as conservatively as possible in the hopes that you can reach penalties.
  7. Why do they allow these games to end with penalties versus continuing sudden death? Seems like you might as well flip a coin to pick a winner if you're going to allow penalties to decide.
  8. This guy is my breakout candidate for 2023 on the pitching side, especially if he can pick up a few ticks.
  9. Better attendance than most home games back in the dark days when Jordan Schafer was patrolling center.
  10. Yeah, it's too early to really judge him as a GM. His first draft sucked but this year's looks promising. I have hard time understanding the smoke surrounding his job, as it's very difficult for me to see Click being given the boot this early based on his performance. There must be something else going on that hasn't gotten to the public yet.
  11. Smith should be fine against LHB although he's pretty mediocre against RHB. Harper has been hot in the post-season but people forget that Judge is the superior hitter. Moreover, simply because a player was hot in the LDS/LCS doesn't mean anything with respect to how they will play in the WS. Alvarez is also superior to Harper and looked unstoppable in the ALDS only to have a pretty mediocre ALCS.
  12. Need a big play. Sure as shit not stopping them through sound coverage and tackling.
  13. Need to be aggressive and try for negative plays. Better they score quickly than a long drawn out drive.
  14. Sark thinking if I kick this we’re never getting the ball back.
