  1. There's a great little movie about some kids in Dublin starting a band to impress a girl, Sing Street, with a bit of appreciation for the musicianship of Duran Duran. When the movie came out in 2016 first thought was it was about time they got credit for their songcraft. John Taylor's autobiography, though, left a lot to be desired. He does well to document the fascinating times of the early days of Duran Duran's ascent, but I was there for the juicy bits about the members' relationships, especially with Simon or the early departures, and he glosses over almost every bit of that. Regardless, Team Duran Duran.
  2. Been using a Venta Airwasher for years and love it. But be warned, the stuff it pulls out of the air will make you reconsider breathing.
  3. The Dual Professional (in classic 40's V-front) reissue that was teased before the pandemic might finally be making its way into produciton. Fender MIGHT announce something concrete at NAMM this June. This is holy grail reissue type stuff. https://www.musicradar.com/news/joe-bonamassa-reveals-signature-fender-48-dual-professional-amp Before this you pretty much only had Rift and Victoria doing modern versions of this amp: https://guitar.com/review/rift-amps-tweed-vee/ But if the mothership makes this a thing I'm in like Flynn. As seen in the background of that famous pic in the Guitar Player magazine article where Billy Gibbons was asked to point at his dorkiest guitar.
  4. Heard they're bringing Dragonlance back too. Sign me up for all of it.
  5. Probably not $50k. It's an ungraded beta, but should pull a 6 without much issue. The Serra is beta too. I don't have any alphas. I got into Magic during Antiquities/Legends, back when that beta Black Lotus could fetch about $200 from some desperate sucker,, and even then alphas were rare.
  6. Revved up indeed. Sent from my SM-N976V using Tapatalk
  7. HIs next video gonna be Why New Drivers Don't Drive Ferraris.

That album has no business existing in 1981. Humans just haven't progressed far enough by then. It makes no sense.

The super deluxe of the most anachronistic album ever created came in. Have we already been over how much I dig overwrought productions like this? Pretty excited to check out the OG concert.
  10. Yo, if I don't get a low SN copy then no more rides in cars that throw bullshit lights on the ground.
  11. I change my mind.
  12. Yes. And electronics, and neck, bridge type, headstock type, and wood type, etc., etc. It shares more important features with Les Pauls than any guitar shares with Telecasters.
  13. "...that's defining for sound." Cosmetic tops don't change the guitar family, but things like neck setting type into solid-body wood type does. V's and Explorers couldn't be more Les Paul if you threw binding on them.
  14. On which of these planets do V's share anything with Strats from a design perspective? Because on this planet they share almost everything that's important and defining for sound with Les Pauls.
  15. But Flying Vs and Explorers ARE Les Paul copies that further prove the point...
  16. Or because they already have. (And doing so was such a low bar that it was done almost immediately.) I'll dip out now, just wanted to let Doug know he's not the only one on this lonely hill.
  17. Telecasters, yes, Telecaster design elements incorporated into other guitars, no. The number of Strat copies, and more importantly guitars that steal Strat design concepts, takes a chest dump on Tele numbers of the same. The reasons for this truism abound. Telecasters are a cold war relic of blunt design.
  18. The elements that typify Telecaster design are the most un-copied elements in the history of music (even within the company that created the thing). Can't argue with science.
  19. The most un-Tele in existence. Side note: There is a Custom Shop Page Mirror Tele Signature (set up as a blackguard) at the Guitar Center in Spring for $2k complete with all that cool case candy. It's got me thinking that if any series of unfortuante events lead me to owning a Tele, that might be the one...
  20. "Goofy little weenie headstock..." lol Preach. Teles are like the Devo of guitars imo. Yeah, there's obviously something interesting going on but they are also dorky as fuck. There's a metric shit ton of cool dudes who play Teles, but none of them are cool because they play Teles - they're cool in spite of it. And looking cool is half the reason to play guitar. Coincidentally, this is also why PRS sucks. Leo knew he could do better, so he did.

Eric Johnson put a bunch of signed stuff on his web store recently. Among them are some double LPs like these two classics. I've never picked up Ah Via Musicom on vinyl (3 digital versions of it, obv.) so him offering autographed copies of the LE gold vinyl version was like he was speaking to my heart.
  22. .
  23. CBS News affiliate WCCO just found this little dude at teacher wages protest during 1970 in Minneapolis hiding in their archives. Spoiler: he will not grow much taller than this.

  25. Went down a Weather Report rabbit hole and eventually came across this guy. Circular breathing is witchcraft. In case you haven't:
