Christmas week of 1960, I walked alone around the Plaza de la Constitucion area in Mexico City until 2 or 3 am a couple of times with no problems at all

There is a good chance they remembered you from 1847…

Got my wife one of those...to go with the portable CD player I got her as one of our first "serious gifts" when we were dating.  Did I bundle it with an Enya CD, because chicks dig Enya?  Damn right I did.  Setting the MOOD, mofos.

Back in the day, it was Bread.   Brian Eno probably kept me from getting laid multiple times.

BREAKING ‼️ Russia accuses Igor Strelkov aka Girkin of betraying Russia and collaborating with the RDK and Ukrainian President Zelensky

The RDK was supposed to release him from prison.

When Navalny died, the RDK stated it had a plan to release Navalny from jail and published a detailed map of the penal colony in which he was held

    He about to be dead.

Fiat 128 Wagon was mine.  1,300 cc of Baja surf mobile.  75 mph downhill with a 40 mph tail wind.

my next car was this exact car and color. 1975 Dotson B210.   The Arab oil embargo happened and I needed a car with better mileage so my dad paid $3025 for this new beast.  if I recall it had 1175 cc, making your ride a muscle car.      It was a dangerous car with nonexistent acceleration, poor breaking, and loose steering.  But on my best tank of gas, I got 39 miles per gallon.   I was never happier than when I sold it and bought a new 1981 Subaru.   I’d forgotten that a car could surge forward if you put your foot on the accelerator.

This is a 1967.  My car was this exact color.   It was, however, an upgrade from my 1965 Ford Falcon, which my friends nicknamed “the blue turd.”

My plan is to lose about 20-25 pounds by the election and work on a solid tanning base all summer so that I’ll be a hot rich person by November. I feel like if I can be a hot rich person everything will be OK.

    KEY POINTS

A federal judge indefinitely postponed the criminal classified documents trial of former President Donald Trump, a court filing shows.

Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. President Donald Trump gestures while he walks with his attorney Todd Blanche, as his criminal trial over charges that he falsified business records to conceal money paid to silence porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016 continues, at Manhattan state court in New York City, U.S., May 6, 2024.

A federal judge Tuesday indefinitely postponed the criminal classified documents trial of former President Donald Trump, a court filing shows.

The trial on charges that Trump willfully retained classified national security records after leaving the White House and then hid them from federal authorities was scheduled to start May 20.

But U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon wrote in Tuesday’s court order that it “would be imprudent” to finalize a trial date “at this juncture” when various pre-trial issues have yet to be resolved.

Cannon pointed to pending questions about how classified information will be handled in the high-profile trial of the former president, and “additional pretrial and trial preparations necessary to present this case to a jury.”

To move forward with the trial in May would be “inconsistent with the Court’s duty to fully and fairly consider” those issues, she wrote.

“The Court therefore vacates the current May 20, 2024, trial date (and associated calendar call), to be reset by separate order following resolution of the matters before the Court, consistent with Defendants’ right to due process and the public’s interest in the fair and efficient administration of justice,” Cannon ruled.

Yes, in retrospect, it would’ve been nice if Obama could’ve appointed her replacement rather than Trump. It would also be really nice if McConnell wasn’t a massive piece of shit who stole two SCOTUS seats for blatantly partisan and unconstitutional reasons. Let’s not lose sight of who the real villains are here.

Nobody needed hindsight to recognize the problem with a decent replacement if she held on too long-  and her age and the type of cancer that she had pretty much takes away the need for hindsight.  People were screaming about it at the time.  Anyone here who has tried to pry an elderly parent out of their home for their own good will cosign that it is almost impossible for them to do it of their own volition.  Same deal with the stakes being much higher.

But please don’t act like the Turtle’s plan was unknowable when he had already publicly stated that his goal was to defeat anything that Obama wanted to achieve.
