  1. Gobert celebrating his new extension by getting dunked on by Rui and ignored by teammates when he has a mismatch in the post.
  2. It’s an abortion. If that thing is permanently broken, the Knicks are getting a shell of what they traded for. Also, the Celtics are great but I hate the way they play. Little movement tons of three point chucking. Just so boring to watch.
  3. The Rockets signed Green and Sengun to pretty reasonable deals yesterday. I wasn't a fan of the Brooks signing, but their front office seems to be doing a lot of things right these days. I thought they might go the route of waiting until the offseason to give them max cap flexibility. Bird in hand, I suppose. Plus the free agent crop isn't anything to get excited about. The Nuggets also extended Aaron Gordon and he did them a solid by opting in for one more year. It gives them some flexibility in the short term but they are committed to their core four now for the foreseeable future. If they can get anything from the rest of their team, I kinda like them coming out of the west. Nobody is picking them and they still have the best player in the world. I feel like they were a bizzarro fourth quarter collapse against Minnesota from winning the west last year. Looking forward to the season kicking off. Everybody is jocking OKC and Boston, but there is so much parity around the league. I think there's going to be some wacky shit happen this year.
  4. I saw people freaking out on twitter that game 5 went to OT, so I flipped it on to get my first taste of WNBA playoff action this year. Holy shit balls that was brutal. Awful, awful, terrible, unwatchable basketball.
  5. For sure but if she's into that, then I'd be into that.
  6. Other than the one year with the Lakers, he's been on shit teams. He did shoot 38% from three on 4.7 attempts per game last year. That would have been tied for second best 3P% on the Spurs behind McBuckets last season. Which I suppose is a sad commentary on both the Spurs and LWIV. In other NBA news, Monty Williams got a gig coaching his kid at TMI. Can't wait for him to get outcoached by some shlub from a 3A high school in some random San Antonio suburb. https://arizonasports.com/story/3561931/suns-monty-williams-coaching-job/
  7. I thought last night's episode was a little more ham fisted than the rest of the season, but it's still really good. Or maybe I'm just being overly critical because I thought the Cent'anni Sophia episode was so great? Just seemed like they moved shit along a little too easily. Like, it's really that easy to get to the Maroni's in the middle of a gang war? Four different times in the same episode?
  8. Boston, I believe, is in some weird roster crunch with the salary cap that I don't fully understand and signing him may impact moves later this season. But yeah.... there are a ton of guys on two way contracts who Lonnie is better than. That said, Lonnie is one of the more frustrating players I've ever seen. One night he looks like Kobe Bryant. The next 10 he looks like he's never played organized basketball. I've always pulled him though. He seems like a good dude and had a pretty rough upbringing. I can't imagine that he couldn't get rotation minutes for the Nuggets, who are desperate for warm bodies who can hit a three.
  9. The closer we get to game time the more I’m concerned that we’re looking ahead to Vandy.
  10. Agreed. I’m selling Buy or Sell.
  11. He was definitely from San Antonio. My family and his go back a good ways, too. I find it completely unsurprising that I know all of these motherfuckers.
  12. Charlotte could be a sneaky play-in / playoff team. I could see it with a healthy Lamelo (yeah... I know) and a rapidly ascending Miller, along with Bridges and by some miracle a healthy Mark Williams, combined with how many hardcore eastern conference tankers there are.
  13. Given how much they relished being in the SEC... Given how much they loved that they "left Texas behind forever" in the Big Dumpster Fire conference... Given how much they thought they had gotten out from under our shadow... Given how much of a recruiting advantage they though they had on Texas as the only Texas school in the SEC... Given how much they sucked up to the other SEC schools and jerked off to Bama and LSU winning titles... Given the way that they freaked the fuck out about us joining their conference... Given how they were forced to vote us in to the SEC... Given how they feel Snakey stabbed them in the back by letting Texas in... Given the way that they were so self-assured that Texas couldn't handle the SEC grind, line of scrimmage league bullshit... And if Texas winning that games puts us into the SEC championship game that they've never even sniffed and maybe knocks them out of the playoffs, and cements for them that big brother is back to torment the fuck out of them once and forever? Yeah, I love a poooor aggies as much as anybody, but that SEC chant in their own building is going to sting like a motherfucker.
  14. I'm not going to College Station this year, but chanting SEC after winning that game would be the mother of all SEC chants.
  15. No Hartenstein for a few weeks in OKC. They were exceptionally healthy last year. It was a big reason for them having the best record in the west.
  16. I don't know how many of their problems are strictly NIL related. Their defense is fine and they have talented players there. And they are well coached for the most part on that side of the ball. They just took a blowtorch to entire offensive side of the ball. I don't know if it was a poor allocation of NIL resources or just a complete fuck up self-evaluating their talent. They did more to screw over their QB position this offseason than Lincoln Riley ever did. They had a whole year to look at Jackson Arnold and decided to hitch their wagon to him instead of doing whatever they needed to keep Gabriel or add some depth in the portal. The offensive line room was horribly, grossly mismanaged. Their best RB from last year is now tearing it up at Wisconsin. He was a fucking walk-on. Did Wisconsin money whip him or did OU just never offer him a scholarship? I honestly don't know. I give them a bit of a pass on WR because of the injuries, but it's not like Pettaway and Thompson weren't good enough to get scholarships from Texas.
  17. Castle and Wesley are going to be fun to watch on defense if/when Pop plays them together and turns them loose, especially with Wemby on the floor behind them. They are going to get after it. Also Castle is going to shoot an insane number of free throws especially for a rookie and especially for a guard. I’m enamored with him so far. Absolute stud.
  18. Is this really happening before they do something about the playoff bids / auto-seeding? Why let the ACC and Big 12 skate by with bullshit non-conference schedules and have the Big10 and SEC rack up another loss that could potentially knock a team out of playoff contention.
  19. Boy next year’s LB crew with another year of experience for Hill and Lefau, and letting Tyanthony Smith marinate a little, is going to be the best Texas LB group I can remember.
  20. This whole thing is rather great. They are just despondent.
  21. I figured this topic would show up on Surly soon enough and yes... this is hitting super close to home on multiple levels. I went to high school with Suzanne's sister who is legitimately batshit crazy now. My son is friends with Chelsea (the daughter) and one of his really good friend's step sister is her closest friend. Shit, I dropped a group of kids off at their house for a grad party just a few months ago. I didn't realize Britt Kleber was Brad's sister, though. We know her fairly well, too, both through kids and some other social bullshit. All of this is some really fucked puro San Antonio/Alamo Heights incestual shit. I sweatergawd, this town is closer to being Mayberry than a real city.
  22. I just can't put too much stock in what Georgia did against MSU. They got complacent with a lead and let a bad team make a game closer than it should have been. They still put up 600 yards of offense on them. They also got caught off guard by a young running QB who Lebby let open it up in the passing game, and none of that was on film. And let's face it, that was a bit of a trap/sandwich game before coming to Austin and after playing a rival in Auburn. I'm curious to see what happens with the injuries on their offensive line this week. Getting Ratledge and their center back should be a big deal for them. Right now they are 13th in the conference in rushing yards/game, which should never happen with their talent on the line and at RB. If we can make them one dimensional, they don't have game breakers at WR and for once I have faith in the secondary to not get torched. Regardless, we are going to get their A game and that team is still very talented. Their backs are up against the wall a bit. They lose this week and it's more likely than not that every game on the rest of their schedule is an elimination game.
  23. Thank god I didn’t wait in that shit and went around the corner to the other gate but there is zero excuse for this to ever happen.
  24. To Venables credit, they certainly didn’t leave any doubt about their team yesterday. Everybody knows exactly who they are.
  25. I started this got dam thread and I’m not quite sure how we got from “can you please bring enough bottled water so people don’t stroke out in the stands” and “maybe having more than three assholes checking your e-ticket at each gate would be a good idea” to let’s move the game to Arlington and/ or stop being a pussy and suck it up. But here we are.
