  1. Thank you. Seems like a pretty lame deal for OKC to take a flyer on a Dallas swap in a few years, but what the hell were they going to do with 3 FRP in this cruddy draft, anyway? You are going to see more and more of these types of deals from them going forward. They can't possibly use all the picks they have so they will keep kicking them down the road for whatever they can get.
  2. Goodbye McBuckets. Solid move to get rid of the only guy on the roster who can knock down an open three. And LOL Spurs finally got Marcus Morris after all that bullshit. Fuck that guy!
  3. Well, that's as clear as mud. What is Dallas giving up for that first round pick that gets routed via OKC to Washington? Or does OKC just have so many picks that they are giving them out to other teams as charity?
  4. Solid moves for Dallas. I'm assuming they are just giving up second round picks for Gafford? He's a young guy on a reasonable contract. I'm not sure what motivation the Wiz have to dump him, but then again I can't understand what that front office is doing half the time, anyway. I would like to see what protections they have on the first round pick to Charlotte. Signing Grant Williams this offseason cost them an unprotected first round swap to the Spurs way down the road, so that's basically two FRP for Washington, who is also on a reasonable deal for two more years. While I still don't like the Kyrie move and the Brunson screwup would make me physically ill if I were a Mavs fan, Dallas has done some really solid roster building over the last year without having much cap or picks to work with.
  5. It's a little strange, but Hield has fallen out of their rotation and he's an UFA this summer. The Pacers get 3 SRP out of it and take no cap hit, which is more than they were going to get when he walked in a few months anyway. Or they might just be doing him and his agent a solid. Front offices work in strange ways, these days.
  6. Apparently Miles exercised a no trade clause in his contract. Why, I have no idea, but he's gone off (on the court, this time) the last couple of days. Can somebody please explain this trade to me. I get that Olynyk is going to be a free agent this summer and probably isn't in Utah's long term plans, but why is Toronto doing this? They can't decide if they're tanking, not tanking, accumulating picks, dumping picks, dumping salary, accumulating salary, whatever. And why is Utah baling on Agbaji for a late round pick in this crappy draft?
  7. Love what the Knicks are doing but boy are their fans going to be pissed when they flame out in the first round against Philly.
  8. I saw Mojo more times than I care to admit. RIP. The man could turn a phrase: I love you more than eating 'sghetti. I love you more than Richard Petty. I love you more than meatballs. But not as much as football. I wasn't there for the Don Henley must die night, but I was 100% there for that Magneto show. I was pretty fucked up and it was a long time ago, but wasn't there a standoff on the drag where the thief was holding up the guitar and everybody was pleading with him not to drop it? One of my good friends was pretty tight with Beaver Nelson at the time, and Magneto (plus Paul Minor) was essentially his backup band before they formed. So, we were at pretty much every one of their shows. I wore out that cassette. That era was for me, pretty much peak Austin before I moved back to San Antonio, The Hole would consistently book the Gourds, Magneto USA, Beaver, the Damnations, Two Hoots, the Sleestax and then there was always Dale, Charlie and Bruce Robison, Roger Wallace, and Damon Bramblett at the Continental or Ginnys. Junior Brown every Sunday night first at Henry's and then at the Continental. Electric Lounge opened around then, too. So much great music every night of the week.
  9. That will be convenient to have him on staff after they shitcan Aranda when he starts 1-4.
  10. Happy trading deadline day. Doesn't look like anything major is going down today but it's always fun when rumors start flying at the wire. It's a weird time -- most of the contenders (sans OKC and NOLA) are out of assets to deal. There are fewer sellers because more teams are still trying to compete to get to the play in game. There's funky shit going on with the second apron on the new cap. And finally, the 2024 draft looks like dogshit. That said, here's the first one of the day:
  11. Their best hope to even the playing field is for collective bargaining, but that just raises the floor. The NIL train has already left the station and the courts are not going to inhibit a kid from making endorsement money above whatever salary they receive. Could you imagine the NFL trying to stop Patrick Mahomes from making State Farm commercials because it's an unfair advantage to the Chiefs. Well, one can dream, I suppose.
  12. I hope they put in Saban's contract that he has to wear the mascot head at the end of the show.
  13. I still contend that they never should have fired Bud, but it doesn't matter if they hire Bill Belichek at this point. That defense is going to be leaky as long as Dame is in the lineup instead of Jrue Holiday. Their entire offseason was a major overreaction to a rather fluky first round loss against a really good Miami team when Giannis was hurt.

  16. I caught them in person Saturday against the spurs. They were really impressive. Great size and athleticism up front with Allen and Mobley. Great guard play from Mitchell and Garland. Strus was such a good addition for them. He fills in the gaps at both ends. I’ve been high on them for a couple of years now. It was rather astonishing watching what the Knicks did to them in the playoffs last year. But most of the time young teams need to take their medicine in the playoffs before they learn how to win.
  17. Ok... this actually looks pretty cool. Also, it's just a matter of time before every team in the league is blasting ads on this thing and using it for in game promotions.
  18. I think looking at the outlier playoff teams would be more interesting -- specifically TCU last year and Washington this year, and maybe Cincinnati in 2021. TCU had 8 guys drafted off their playoff team. Cincy had 9 drafted off the 2021 team. TCU had a new coach. UW coach was in year 2. They both won primarily with players recruited by somebody else.
  19. I went to the game the other night and noticed Vic asking the trainer for some kleenex and then blowing his nose. I thought it was a little odd and then I saw this: Congrats Wemby, you're now officially a native.

  22. You should probably add Liebrock, Jake Smith and Isiah Hookfin to the list of guys who never contributed primarily because of injury. That's just an inordinate number. That class really was snakebit.
  23. I was driving home one weekend in college from Austin to San Antonio. I was super hungover and as I was cruising down 35 I started to feel the rumblings. Shit was about to go down, literally, and time was not on my side. I knew the rest area was up on the right in a couple of miles so I start driving like a maniac weaving in and out of traffic at probably 100+ MPH in an attempt to get there before completely shitting all over myself and ruining the interior of my car. I barely make it in time, park, and go sprinting into the restroom. I wasn't even sure I turned off my engine. Thankfully, there isn't one soul in there. I have the entire disgusting place to myself. Now, the bathroom there has zero privacy. There are no real stalls, presumably to prevent random gay hookups. So all they have is a few metal toilets attached to the wall separated by small approximately 2' x 3' plank, but there are no doors and if there is anybody else in there, you are in full view. I imagine there is more privacy in a prison shitter. But desperate times call for desperate measures, so I scramble to the shitter in the furthest corner and completely let loose of my bowels. I'm sweating profusely, bent over in agony, and excruciatingly and noisily shooting liquid straight out of my asshole. At this time precise time, a tour bus unloads about 40 people to make a pit stop. They start queuing up about 4 deep to use the bathrooms as I'm dying on a stainless steel throne completely exposed, now with a live studio audience for the worst shit of my life. At first I was like... okay, you can do this. Just don't make eye contact with anyone. If you're lucky, you will actually die right here and now. But then, I realized, fuck it. If I'm going to be this vulnerable and uncomfortable, I might as well take a few of these sumbitches with me. So I start making eye contact with anyone who has the guts to look back at me, and staring their asses down. Shockingly, nobody really wanted any part of me, either. After what seemed like about a month (but was probably less than a minute), I finish up, wipe my ass with government supplied zero ply toilet paper, and try to stare down every last bastard on my way out of there. Worst shit ever. I think if I had to do it over again, I would have shit myself, drove the rest of the way home sitting in my own liquid feces and just sold the car.
  24. There's some contact with the body, but it's really after the block. To me, that's a no call every time on an otherwise outstanding defensive play that gets fans out of their seats. There used to be a lot of no calls, especially on block/charges. And it was okay. Incidental contact was allowed. A defender was allowed to try to make a defensive play by moving his feet and getting in front of the offensive player, and the offensive player was allowed to try to make an offensive play and get to the basket. He either made a shot or he didn't, and there was no whistle. The fans would boo for a second, but nobody got too bent out of shape and the game went on. Now it seems like they have to blow their whistle every fucking time there's any contact. There was a certain understanding that the refs were going to let some of the shit go. I don't get why they can't go back to that. It's killing the game.
  25. Collins was -27 last night. Wemby was +10. He’s regressed so badly this season. I was so wrong about him.
