The defense is more than an Orlando issue, but he’s a pretty big part of it

It’s pretty clear that we’re finishing out the year 2-2. Texas getting injured players back + KSU not being awesome at passing should be a field goal or touchdown victory for Texas. I think we beat Tech in a shootout but lose to Baylor & ISU.
TCU is horrible at passing, yet we made Max Duggan look like Aaron Rodgers

40 passing attempts in the first half?
Yikes, come on Harrell. -
So Jordan loves UT and the coaches, yet steers his bro away from his commitment..
The only reason Ethan was coming to Texas was to play with his big bro. -

Even when we aren't blitzing, we're blitzing. The 4th lineman, or b-backer blitzes from behind the LOS about half the time or more.
Who do we have playing b-backer? I wish Ossai was "blitzing" half of the time.
Btw, a blitz is only > 4 pass rushers.
-
The insane blitzing is a problem, but Duggan was gashing us with throws when we dropped 7-8 into coverage in the second half. He had all day to throw and he found receivers downfield.

Pretty sure Herman told him not to run in case of him getting hurt.
More likely to get getting sacked from holding the ball in the pocket for 6 seconds

I was reading this thread thinking that we didn't reach this level of anger with Charlie until after the Kansas loss in year 3, and even then a lot of people were more weepy than mad.
This is like Mack level hate, and we're 5-3. Not where we want to be, but not near Charlie/Mack level suck either.
TCU was possibly our easiest opponent left on the schedule.
7-5, 6-6 is where we're trending.

One of the most infuriating aspects of coaches is their insistence on winning using their “system”.
Face it Tom - we don’t have an above average tight end on the roster. We don’t even have an average one. When you stubbornly use 11 personnel on every play, not only are you allowing the defense to effectively ignore one of your receivers and double someone else, you’re also sending a message to the players that getting the best players on the field isn’t the priority.
Have we had two RB on the field at the same time for even a single play this year? I don’t think so and we might be one of the only teams to have done so.
Break some fucking tendencies. Do something unexpected.
Whittington and Ingram were on the field at the same time a few times during the LaTech game.

In my view, Bijan is 33% to UT, 33% to USC (w/ Meyer) and 33% to Ohio State. Get your feelings hurt all you want but if you were in his shoes, why the hell would you choose Texas over Ohio State (the team you almost committed to) or your childhood favorite team w/ a top 3 coach in CFB? Let me guess, because Austin is such a cool city? No.
You know USC would handily beat us right now, right?

Young QB on a running offense, Texas defense makes him look like he will except the Heisman tonight. TCU defense gives up more points than most defense in college football, Texas offense makes them look like the 85 Bears. I am sick of this fucking shit, I am sick of making shitty teams look great.
TCU has a pretty good D. The O is trash and the main reason why our D looked acceptable for a while in this game
-
You know Urban would probably take the job just to stick it to Herman too.
I'm just kidding, Urban is unfortunately too dirty to be the head man here. Maybe we could hire him as a QC coach.
-
There were no books giving Texas points in this matchup straight up. The closest it came was a pick'em late.
-
It feels like Sam is trying too hard to prove he can win in the pocket. Ideally, he'd be far more willing to run because that's what makes him special.
He should be looking to run far before trying to force balls into coverage or throw "50/50" balls to CJ
-
Sam's problem is that he seems like he's trying to make the difficult throws to prove that he can. He used to run much more willingly last year, this year he's turned into a gunslinger as the year has progressed.
-
Everyone plays us physically on defense and we fold way too often now.
-
Owens was in good position, Barber found the ball early and played it amazingly.
The frustrating part is that these kinds of plays happen against us ALL THE TIME. That's coaching.
-
WE continue to throw to Burt who won't even catch the ball with a good throw
-
He was in bounds. It's a horrible throw by a QB playing very poorly. He's been making pretty bad decisions all game.
-
I was almost relieved when he caught that
-
Oh no, please not brewer! Crushing injury if true.
Absolutely devastating.
-
KState has been tackling well all day, Lamb is just that good.
-
My main concern in this game is how we performed in the 2017 opener against Maryland.
Pigrome was basically a running back who could throw a bit and he torched us. Our offense is better, but our defense is worse. Duggan/Delton/Anyone could have a great game against us.

Wasn't on topic for most of it, but still pretty cool. I'm sure the kids loved it.
