  1. Don’t forget about the praying. There will be lots of praying. Dr. Jesus, MD is on the case.
  2. Cognitive dissonance. Textbook.
  3. This can’t possibly be a thing. I mean I’ve read the company handbook and the policy on kickbacks; they’re strictly forbidden. Right? Right?
  4. The new season of the Real Housewives of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave is gonna be lit
  5. conspiratechplutocracy era It’s a mashup of conspiracy, technology, and plutocracy. It’s intentionally confusing because… well that’s fitting for this Qdiot world where people intentionally disregard facts and choose to believe things because it fits their worldview. Or, their editorial news channel or podcast or social media feed repeated those things enough times that the bullshit became fact. Plus with trump and elron running things, we operate in a plutocracy. or the age of stoopid Intentionally spelled this way because that just describes us better collectively. or the disinformation age

    Pearl Jam

The wife and I got tickets for their two shows in Seattle last may. I like to get tix before traveling, and I like good seats so I paid a hefty markup for shows 1 and 2 in seattle on stubhub and ticketmaster, respectively. At noon the day of show 1, stubhub notified me via the app that they couldn’t fulfill my order. I was livid because I figured we’d miss the show, and we had dropped over $2k for the show 1 tix. Stubhub auto-refunded me within 30 minutes but I was at lunch with the wife fuming that we were out $2k and would miss the show that we had flown up to see. The 30 minutes between the stubhub notification and the refund were bad. I was not gonna miss the show and bought a tix in a section closer to the stage for around $700 for 2 tix. End result: I got slightly better seats and got +$1300 net. I had bought the night 2 show through ticketmaster, and it didn’t have the high scalper markup. Pearl jam doesn’t let scalpers make their cut. Lesson learned for PJ tix: Buy using ticketmaster. Seat selection is pretty good. Lots of people traveling into seattle from elsewhere were buying tickets the days leading into the show.
  7. Why would someone cut the head off a whale and strap the aforementioned head to the roof of one’s SUV? Why would one dump a roadkill bear in central park after a leisurely day of falconry? It takes a brainworm to understand this level of genius.
  8. I submit a request for a rep thing with @Superhero’s avatar.
  9. Haven’t you heard? Computers are terrible at counting. Just ask tucker.

  12. “I don't like the 'I told you so' from leftists“ Game on. We’re gonna make you choke on that shit.
  13. Charo was on every episode if memory serves. That shimmy is a lasting memory.
  14. If you’re around college age and don’t spend a few weeks backpacking around europe staying in youth hostels, you’re doing it wrong. I took a month off after a break up and met girls from florida, michigan, and mexico city. I’d meet them in hostels. I'd meet girls on the trains between cities, and we’d go stay some place together. We’d tour the city together. Ended up dating the girl from florida that I met at a hostel in london. Youth. Don’t waste it.
  15. I saw this on an episode of fantasy island a million years ago. Came on right after the love boat. Is there any video of a couple of dudes in white suits? One significantly shorter than the other?
  16. Yeah. But you’re just wong. So so wong.
  17. Pre-ACA, being a type 1 diabetic meant you couldn’t buy health insurance as an individual because health insurance companies wouldn’t sell to people with pre-existing conditions. The market collapse and subsequent layoffs of Oct 2008 put a lot of us in a very precarious position with our health. Recently, I was quoted $5000 for one month’s supply of one of the two types of insulin I use while waiting for my new insurance to kick in. America has a lot of meat on the bone to improve healthcare even for standard stuff.

  21. Once upon a time, I lost my insulin and syringes in paris on my way to cannes when on vacation. I discovered this around dinnertime with a week left on my vacation. I was in trouble. I had no prescription on me. I explained my predicament to the hotel concierge, and they explained how my problem could be resolved. 1. Take a taxi to the hospital. Concierge called the taxi. 2. Taxi dropped me off at the hospital where I explained my situation to a nurse who didn’t speak english, and I didn’t speak french. Someone in the waiting room acted as the translator. Nurse wrote me a prescription without any hassle. Just took my word (translated) for it. 3. A security guy at the hospital called me a taxi to go to the police station. Since it was after hours, the police were the only people authorized to access a pharmacy. 4. I went to the police station and explain my predicament. The cop called the pharmacy and called a taxi for me. 5. Taxi took me to the pharmacy and opened it just for me and sold me my two types of insulin. 6. I walked went to dinner astounded that this entire process took less time than my normal visit to my endocrinologist. Charge for hospital to write me a prescription = $0 Charge for cop to call the pharmacy = $0 charge for pharmacy to sell me my two types of insulin = $10 Anyone complaining about the french model or french service is a fool.
