Garbage and Starcrawler last night was on point.
If anyone’s interested, they have a show at ACL Live tonight.
Starcrawler were decked out in their signature hot pink and black. Wrapped up their set with “bet my brains”. Guitarist always closes the song by walking through the audience. Great and short performance. They always get the crowd juiced up.
Shirley had a lot to say. Some kind words about her father, some CR, some thoughts on the music industry, and an audience participation happy birthday sing along to their tour manager complete with the non-standard hip hip hooray at the end. Very personable and made a connection with the audience.
Wearing that kilt, she had everyone’s attention.
I got starcrawler opening for garbage tomorrow in deep ellum.
Starcrawler is always entertaining. I’ve seen them twice. They won me over first time I saw them at stubbs. Female lead singer yells at us olds, “you’re gonna want to turn your hearing aids up for this one”, threw a water bottle into the crowd, and launched into “bet my brains”. Punk as fuck.
I’ve been so drunk that people would stop and take a double take at me and my girl while we were stumbling down bourbon street.
I have never thought - hmmm… I’m gonna go karen that delivery truck driver down this alley because reasons.
The guy was working. Pretty much every place of business says firearms are not allowed on the premises. Pepper spray seems like a good first option, and if that isn’t effective, a knife is the second option.
He may very well have encountered situations in his working career that deemed a knife necessary. Hell, he may have carried a box knife for work purposes. I haven’t seen any details on the type of knife.
Running wind sprints in an alley and a grease disposal truck operator blocks the alley? Was there a speedometer nearby and the truck was preventing butt fumble from achieving usainbolt velocity powered by tequila?
I saw Wolf Alice last night. Odd show. They put on a great performance but the music is all over the place. Some very pop tunes, some near punk, one made me think of the band Winger, and one group sing along.
Odd cast of band members from the sing along. From the left.

Lord Huron and Kevin Morby in irving
I’ve seen them twice. Once at kessler and once at longhorn saloon. The kessler is such an intimate venue that it appears some bands tone it down there. The longhorn saloon show earlier this year was really good.
They’re playing the saloon again in nov with jamestown revival. I’m in for that show.
I’m seeing them in Irving on sat night. Pretty stoked about it.
Let me know how it goes.
I also have Softcult on fri night and Sun Room on sun night both in deep ellum.
