One of the more interesting items from this whole thing is the implication from them knowing he boarded a bus in Atlanta.

That means there is likely a video database capturing huge streams of video data from all over the country, holding it for weeks/months/years? and using facial recognition scanning to ID the person. I’m unclear how this is constitutionally legal.

There could be other paths to this data, but seems low probability.

You can film people in public spaces, use tech to ID and track movements, sell as a service to LE.   I think it's best to assume that outside your home you are being recorded at all times.

    Excellent retort.

UHC will have someone in his position in the next month and they will sift through hundreds of candidates. And they also fill all of their available openings throughout the rest of their company. So explain to me how my "stupid take" is incorrect.

I never said I'd take the fucking job and I never said it was good thing. I was simply stating facts.

People without integrity can't comprehend that other people might conduct themselves in a manor other than the pursuit of naked self interest.  Start by thinking about that and you might figure out why I called your post bleak and stupid.

Because nearly everyone just wants to get paid.

Someone will take the job of the guy that is dead, because it pays $10M a year. And people will still go work for UHC because it pays a salary that they can use to feed their family and pay their bills.

There are VERY few altruistic people that are not going to take a good salaried job in their field because it is not popular.

If UHC offered you his $10M/year salary tomorrow, are you turning it down?

    1. Bleak and stupid take
    2. Well I think we know how cheaply you can be bought.  Damned son, $10m that's really all you're worth?

I’m thinking about getting a 4.5 qt KitchenAid stand mixer. As a single guy, I assume that will be large enough to suit my needs. If there are any other single people out there who can speak from personal experiences to tell me why I should choose a larger model, I’d appreciate hearing from you. Or if you can affirm my choice, that would be appreciated too.

More than enough for what you'll need.  I wouldn't over think it.

Some of the techbros do. Podcaster I listen to keeps reminding them if they continue with the wealth disparity, they are going to need to start driving around in armored cars. From their reactions she realizes they want to. And we have a major car company just put out a truck that fits the bill.

Like most others I'm of the mind that it was a tragedy that a man was killed. But as you learn he was a CEO and a CEO of a health insurance company, that tragedy diminishes.

It's not really the wealth disparity, it's how that wealth was aggregated.  If you build wealth on people's pain and misery you should expect that there'll be a reckoning at some point.

Here's a guy that won't need an armored car, but if I see him in a Pub he'll need an armored liver.

The words "deny," "defend" and "depose" were reportedly discovered by detectives on shell casings found at the scene where UnitedHealth Group CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot, police sources told ABC News.

The chilling detail emerged as the shooting suspect remains at large after what NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch described as a “brazen, targeted attack" during a press conference on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Thompson, 50, was shot just before 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, outside the New York Hilton Midtown hotel. The masked gunman was “lying in wait” outside the building according to Tisch. Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny added that the gunman appeared to be "proficient" in the use of firearms.

According to ABC News, NYPD detectives are working to establish whether the words found on the casing were meant as a message from the shooting suspect and a hint at their motive.

Correct.  Three live rounds found and three spent cartridges.  Live rounds seems weird?  A "pro" seemingly would be better prepared, but man that dude was calm and collected in the video.

Looked like he burned his fingees on the hot gun after shot 3 or 4.  I just don't think he looked all that calm and collected.  He fumbled with the gun some, was right in front of a witness and a camera, doesn't seem sure how many shots he wants to take, and his pathing to the victim seems haphazard.   But I'm just a dude on the internet who has no real world experience with this stuff.  Outside of some ducks, I haven't shot anything that wasn't paper.

I am working under the assessment offered upthread that the gun was a BT bolt action integrally suppressed handgun. The video is 100% compatible with that assessment, including the shooter working the bolt. But we could certainly find out that that was not the weapon used.

fair enough.  My point was it could be fab'd  something like a Ruger Mark IV with a homemade suppressor.

I can't make out much of the gun in that video other than it's black, the barrel is long, and he appears to be racking it.
