  1. I have tried to love the Wilson EDC platform but have not been able to.  I bought one when they first came out and shot it a lot.  Had too many failure to feed properly so I sent it back to Wilson.  They worked on it, sent it back and I burned more ammo.  Still was having a few FTF so I sold it and moved on.  Got the itch again while sitting around in late 2020 and ordered another one from Wilson.  This one with an RMR, suppressor height sights, etc..  Very accurate gun, but had 5 FTF in first box of 50.  Super annoying.  Called Ken in customer service, who by the way is a great guy and will bend over backwards to solve an issue, and he said the platform has some tight chamber tolerances and shoot a couple more hundred rounds.  I brought five different brands/weights and let them rip.  Took pictures of every FTF and there were some from each brand.  Sent them to Ken and his advice was to send back.  Got it back a week later, took to range and had a couple FTF in the first box.  That was it for me.  Boxed it up, took it to my favorite gun store and they bought it for a little less than I paid.  This was during the peak of hysteria and they had no ammo, no guns, nothing to sell so they were willing to pay a premium  to have something in the case.
I like the idea of the EDC platform with no grip safety, 15 rounds, new rail system that allows greater reliability(?), semi custom features, etc...  I have just had bad luck it seems.  Good luck to yours and I hope it works great.
I shoot a lot and expect mine to run.  I have  Glock 19 and 30S that I carry frequently.  Clean every few thousand rounds whether they need it or not, shoot them every week and never have an issue.  I have a couple of custom 1911s that I also shoot weekly and rarely clean them.  I do keep them heavily oiled and I believe the slurry helps polish the contact points and increases reliability.  Never have an issue with either one.
I am getting the itch for the new SFX9 with flat trigger, RMR, etc...  What can I say, it's an illness.

EDC is a misnomer on this one for sure. It’s purely a range gun for me. I wanted a 9mm 1911 style target shooter with higher capacity. Your experience sucks, I hope mine smooths out. I really want to like this gun.

As for carry, no way. It’s heavy and not reliable. Perhaps the tight tolerances are to blame but very not cool. I’ll keep oiling it up and take it each range trip.

As for carry, Glock, CZ P10c or sig 938 here. Hell, I have a couple Bersas that I would carry before this one. I can count on one hand the number of FTF I’ve had with those.
  2. Both pistols are more accurate than my ability. I have a feeling I’ll burn off a big chunk of my ammo breaking these two in and working on my ability.

Right now, my favorite is the CZ shadow which I had a better range trip with.

Nice! Looking forward to a range report.

I hit the range sundays. I stripped both down and lubed it up with the Wilson combat lubricant it came with. The cliffs notes are Some good some bad on both.

    WC EDC X9 ~100 rounds.
Accuracy was good. I got some good groups at 7yd and still hit center mass at 15yd

The Trigger felt great, light and good break. I tend to jerk the trigger more than I do on some of my other pistols.

Reliability: this was irritating. A couple of failure to feed. I felt the cycling of the slide more than I usually do with other steel pistols. The slow cycling could be weak old ammo, could be tight fitment and stiff spring. Either way I’ll get a few hundred more rounds before I judge.

WC 7 yards. 1st mag middle, 2nd mag lower left. 3rd upper left.

    Dan Wesson. ~120 rounds.
Accuracy was noticeably better. At 7 yards I had some tight ragged holes, at 15 yards still tighter than the WC.

Trigger similar to the WC. Great 1911 trigger. Light and crisp break with a short reset. I didn’t have the jerking issue.

Reliability: one stove pipe. A handful of failure to feed. I did use a bunch different mags I had lying around. Chip McKormick, Dan Wesson, Colt, some others. I didn’t have the slow cycling like with the WC but the ammo in the old mags had been there for probably a few years.

    WC 7 yards.

15 yard. The cluster in the middle are the .45 rounds from the Dan Wesson

    The rest were the WC

  4. Picking up my Lupo .243 today, transfer from Macks PW thru Gunsplus in Gtown.
Looking for a stainless Colt Govt 1911 if anyone has any leads on one. 5” barrell. Plain jane

I know you said Colt, but gun warehouse had a brushed stainless Dan Wesson Valor that was really hard to leave in the store. Simple. No huge badging.

  5. Yes. Troy at guns warehouse in cedar park.

When I stopped by today he was deep into an AR build. The guy at the counter suggested I call back another time when he’s working the counter. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll reach out again some time.

  6. I am not the one looking at the Springfield that was moose. And I agree, Springfield is a great gun. If I didn’t buy a Colt when I did, I would have bought the a Springfield government style.

I did make up to Gun Warehouse. They have a Valor that I really want. I have to wait to lose a gunbroker bid on another pistol and I’ll be back for it. Either way I’ll be back with pictures of something today or in two weeks.

    So…. I won the auction.

  7. Also, don't miss the forest for the trees.  If you really like the Springfield, it's a GREAT option.  All these high end 1911 options outshoot 99% of their owners (raises hand)
My LEO friend with the Springfield likes it, but never carries it on duty.  It's too heavy, has a limited mag capacity, and he doesn't want to beat the hell out of it on a daily basis.  So last I talked with him, he carried a polymer framed 9mm M&P loaded with 147gr Speer Gold Dot rounds.

Find a Valor. Then, when you do, you'll have to have a V-Bob.
I have (and have had) a lot of pistols. If I had to make a shot to save my life, easy choice, I'd pick up my Valor.

On Texas gun trader right now there is a guy in Fort Hood selling one of each. Both appear to be in good shape. I inquired about the Valor and he told me he was the second owner. I suspect he’s the second owner of both.
  9. Interested in obtaining a 1911 .45
Never owned a 1911 before, I just want one
Trying to stay in the $1000 to $1500 range
Been looking at the Springfield Armory Loaded Operator.  Anyone have any experience with this model or some other recs in my price range?

I’m trying to make a decision right now and considering a Dan Wesson as one of the options. I have a RIA and a Colt Government 1911. I feel like I have a gap in the collection without having a higher end 1911 like a Dan Wesson. A Valor looks great but not the easiest to find. But when you look for a listing of a Valor, you realize they look really good but So does the Pointman and the Specialist. Tempting.

Once I climbed to that price point ($1500-2000) I start looking at CZ 75 TSO which may be too close to my CZ shadow 2 to justify the addition. and I’m within arms reach of a Wilson Combat EDC X9L. Though not a 1911, it is close enough for me to want it.

Now my head is spinning. Thanks a lot.

I’ll probably just end up buying another Glock.

  10. Picked up the CZ Shadow 2 this week. I’ve been a CZ fan for a while. They have great breaking triggers and all just aim well for me. This one is no different and is better than any I own.

    CZ 75 BD
    CZ 75 compact
CZ P10c and now this beauty.
