  1. I have had Ryobi blower for a couple years, not the base model. Probably not the highest but it’s plenty good. Hell, my 18v ridgid shop blower works pretty well but the ryobi works like a champ.

The weed eater works great. No issues. 1 charge I can do the whole yard.

The edger? Fuck that thing. I can’t get 10 feet without it over heating or stopping. I’ve tried for two seasons and it is edge a few feet. Stop. Wait. Try again. And again. Edge a few feet. Stop. Go back to the weed eater and turn it sideways and enjoy crooked edging for two weeks.

I’m going back to corded version.

  2. Yeah, I was excited about the new bronco and was going to go check them out, but have seen the ones around town and I had crossed it off as something I would be interested in. If it wasn't for this thread I wouldn't even know the difference.

They made a HUUuUuGe mistake releasing the sport first. So dumb. It looks like a toy.

The actual Bronco looks worth a consideration a couple years from now when all the kinks are worked out and the aftermarket is in full swing.

Since I just got my 4R this year, it’ll be at least 5 years before I would be in the market.
  3. Yeah. It happened a while back. I was just getting into knives when he got the finger from Benchmade. For a shot while, all I did was buy Ritter grips and mini grips and buy custom scales for them.

    Eventually my interest shifted.

  4. Weird bit of information.
Some of you may be familiar with the "knives of Doug Ritter."  He's some survival type dude (not a survivalist) that used to offer what I recall was a Benchmade Griptilian with upgraded steel that he called the RSK, or Ritter Survival Knife.  www.dougritter.com
In any event, some years back, Benchmade told him they would no longer make his SFO knives for him.
So, it appears that he turned to Hogue, the pistol grip manufacturer, for his new knives, which seem to be very similar to the Griptilian.
I wasn't aware that Hogue made knives, but they're evidently pretty nice.  https://www.hogueinc.com/knives/hogue/manual-knives

Ritter explained, "when Benchmade advised me in the summer of 2016 that as part of a restructuring that they were no longer going to produce my RSK knives, it was quite a shock. These highly regarded knives have been my primary source of income for the last decade. That income is what has allowed me to spend the majority of my time on Knife Rights' efforts to free knife owners from irrational knife restrictions. This has resulted in 32 bills repealing knife bans enacted in 22 states, eight anti-knife bills defeated and numerous litigation victories since 2010. The sales also support my Equipped To Survive site and my participation on numerous national and international safety and survival standards committees. Walking away from Knife Rights and ETS due to the loss of knife income simply wasn't an option I would consider."

Ritter continued, "a number of knife companies approached me after I announced that Benchmade discontinued production, eager to take on this successful line of knives." In the end, Ritter has teamed with Hogue, Inc. to produce the next generation RSK Mk1-G2. Ritter said, "in Hogue I believe I have found a partner who understands my goals, is dedicated to producing world-class knives in the U.S. with customer service second to none. They are also committed to helping Knife Rights continue to forge a Sharper Future for all Americans."
  5. 1.  He never said the COMPRESSOR is in the attic & I assumed that (like prob. 90% of modern houses) that his air handler is the part that is occupying the attic (that's why I mentioned the equipment suffering... the air handler will get an easier life if the attic temps are reduced).

    2. re: insulation, I am slowly becoming a "not fan of" spray foam because we have in the past 5 years or so encountered probably 7 or 8 spray foam houses where the exact source of the leak cannot be determined due to the foam.  Leak shows up down here, point of origin is... um... well... somewhere up above?  Dunno.  Water got between the deck & foam, then ran down slope quite a ways before it finally popped out somewhere.  Even worse if under a metal roof.

Back to your roof layout:  hot air is still being trapped here, even though it's the porch.  It has a fully intact "underside", so the air isn't moving out, only up (pic 1, L side).  This one measly little exhaust vent wont qualify for your shingle manufacturer's warranty against delamination.

Add ridge vent here (pic 2, R side).

    Thanks again.

  6. Your AC compressor is in the attic?  Really?
FOR THE 1  BILLIONTH TIME:  Roof vents' (ridge vents, wind turbines, box vents, turtle vents, power vents, solar-powered vents) primary function is to vent out HUMID air from your attic in both the summer and winter.  Humid air renders fiberglass, rock wool and cellulose insulation ineffective.  The secondary function is to relieve a little bit of heat.
Your AC compressor is probably not in the attic and it is most likely on the ground outside of your house in......the hot sun where it can function properly despite the heat.
If your AC has trouble keeping your house cool you may have an insulation problem where the cool air under the ceilings is being overrun by the hot air in your attic.  Your attic (if traditionally vented) is supposed to be hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
Powered roof vents typically suck.  Some of the solar-powered roof vents are pretty good.  Attic Breeze, in our experience, make the best solar-powered roof vents.
    CHECK YOUR INSULATION.

Ok. That makes sense. Point received and this is why I asked. You’re right, my ac compressor is outside. The fan is inside. Thank you. The benefit (cooler attic, which might aid my ac) is overstated for what my interest in a solar fan would be. I figured while I was getting the roof done, I’d look into the options. The ridge vent I already have may be sufficient for it’s purpose.

  7. Thanks again for responding. Should Texas hail destroy my roof, I’ll PM you first.

The house is 6 years old and yes the soffits have holes in them.

I’m assuming powered vents are better than non powered

That back section is the covered patio, if that matters.

  8. Turns out hail means I’m getting a new roof. Totally forgot about ROFL BOX, my bad, or I’d have reached out. We are going with Crest Roof and USAA has already sent us the cash.

The brochure from rest mentioned solar vent fans. I asked and the guy from crest suggest one solar vent fan and two box vents to bring the temp down. The roof guy said we could buy them and they’d install them.

Our AC is in the attic and has trouble keeping the house cool enough during the summer.

Are these worth it? Which ones should I lean toward or stay away from?

  9. Yeah. This year will be tough. The 4R groups on Facebook are full of posts with dealers adding a premium. Other tell tales of finding a dealership they had to fly to to get just at or barely under MSRP. If I hadn’t got mine when I did (a few months ago) I’d wait until next year.

Or go to a local dealer, tell em what your looking for and your price and add you to the list. The demand will ease eventually.

I bought an SR5 4WD and think the interior is fine for me, but I get the desire to TRD everything. Mine came with TRD wheels but I’ll probably get different tires soon. You probably already know this but I have seen a lot of aftermarket stuff to add your own touch, some I’ve done (chrome blackout, floor mats, remote start) and some I haven’t (grill swap, raptor lights, shifter, led interior lights). There is some decent stuff way cheaper than the Toyota OEM accessories like cartrimhome and Amazon.

  10. 50 rounds and you’ve given up on a handgun red dot?

The subtle shakes in my grip are more obvious when looking at a red dot. I find it nauseating. I’d switch the red dot out for the replacement plate but it’d be my 5th subcompact. Which if it doesn’t sell it’s not that big of a deal.
  11. Anyone interested in a Canik TP9SC elite?

I bought one and the red dot is more annoying to me than I though. I went to the range with it once so 50 rounds through it.

I think the color is tungsten.

I have the other mag (12 rd) and the pieces you see here including the flush mount for the mag and the piece on the slide to replace the red dot. Not pictured is the plastic Holster that came with it.
