  1. Hey BWG, did Beard fuck you and not call?
  2. I thought Beard had an absurd buyout after his last contract.
  3. That athleticism pops off the screen. Just... DAMN
  4. I'd be surprised if he was really 5'10. His legs look on the short side. I'm thinking 5'8 ish...
  5. Could still do LB or we could do the separate DT and DE coaches.
  6. I think you can work around that for the right coaching mind. Not ideal, but he'll also have plenty more success with the Texas brand behind him.
  7. Sucks on Banks. He's an outstanding special teams coordinator. Brewster would be great... Tee Martin could slot there if we hire a different WR coach. Brewster is probably super attainable.
  8. The first and foremost qualification of our OL coach has to be development. As long as he's not a total fucking asshole everyone hates, we don't need a rainmaker recruiter there, although recruiting chops are great too. If we can help Giles lazy ass fall into highly rated recruits, we can help the OL coach do the same.
  9. My memory may be off here, but wasn't Klemm the UCLA guy who was a great recruiter but the complaint was his offensive lines weren't particularly good and he was not a great developer? I could be wrong if he's managed to stick in the NFL under Tomlin... how bad could he be?
  10. Ash's real test was going to be next year. Unfortunately, we have to make a decision now. I'm OK with keeping him or with someone new (assuming quality hire). We improved a lot, but we also had no pass rush for long stretches and our CB's were still lost at times. We did a nice job against the run. Urban likes him. I could go either way.
  11. Sign me up coach...
  12. If getting muschamp means no stoops, that's like winning the lottery twice. Let's do it...
  13. nice burst, good looking player. It looks like he took a nice step forward athletically from his jr year. Looks to have average top end speed. Not bad for a late pickup given our circumstances. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/10348732/5fcb24b1ff026b0360efeae2
  14. He cut his dreads and got better? The math doesn't add up...
  15. Muschamp is available as a Heacock replacement.
  16. Art Briles would kill it here. We're also not hiring him.
  17. BMD's are not paying $25 million to hire Traylor. It's not a realistic scenario.
  18. This was apparently a joke. One of the sources listed was the Dali Lama.
  19. It's just not great options after Meyer. Odds are at least one of the names being thrown around would do very well here. Gotta identify the right guy and sell him to the BMD's.
  20. Meh, Tryalor is an impossible sell to get the buyout money. Might as well not even discuss him.
  21. Hopefully CDC would not allow that. I agree those regimes damaged themselves horribly with the initial coaching staffs. I think CDC will ask who they would be bringing as assistants. It needs to be part of the evaluation.
  22. You evaluate your best options. If the best option is a G5 coach, you hire him. Past failures with G5 coaches does not mean the next G5 coach will not work out. Sometimes you get a Herman, sometimes you get an Urban. More likely you get something in between. You just want someone very good making the evaluation and decision.
  23. I think people dismissing a Fickell or Napier because Herman and Strong were busts aren't looking at the situation quite right. Strong was the result of a disastrous, panicked process. He's kind of an outlier. He never should have been hired. While Herman was a hot name at the time, he did have some red flags. However, just because Herman didn't work out, doesn't mean the next up and coming coach is going to bust as well. Each coach is different and needs to be evaluated on individual merits. Some might have the goods, and some might not. Urban Meyer wasn't a successful P5 coach before Florida. I'm not necessarily advocating for those guys particularly. I'm not familiar enough with either of them. However, I don't think they should dismissed out of hand because they're not established P5 coaches already. Neither Herman nor Strong should be any kind of factor in their evaluations.
