  1. Here is an archived version of that link: https://web.archive.org/web/20240204125304/https://www.faa.gov/pwdp I'm going to assume that the blind and intellectual disabled wouldn't have necessarily been selected for the role of an air traffic controller, but I'm sure there are things that they could assist with in connection with air traffic control. It seems like people with paralysis, missing extremities, and dwarfism could still fulfill the role of an air traffic controller assuming they are otherwise qualified.
  2. There are a lot of things we should let die, I agree.
  3. Sounds like some want to live in blissful ignorance of the negative consequences of the world they voted for. I'm all for ignoring that wish.

@DixonHur do you agree that the law requires you to have a license to drive? If the law wouldn't give you a license because of your sexual orientation, would your response be (a) frustration and anger and advocating that the law should change or (b) not caring because you believe the law is stupid. And if (b) would you feel the same way if you were jailed for driving without a license? That's what you're arguing Dixon. It is really stupid stuff.

Good god, what opinion do you think you're expressing? Read my posts. Right now, your opinion appears to be that because you don't like the law, it doesn't matter or affect anyone. That is a stupid opinion. If otherwise, you're going to need to clarify. Your shit doesn't make sense. Whether you realize it or not, you also appear to be expressing the idea that you don't care that gays may not get the benefits of legally recognized marriage because those benefits didn't always exist and were only created to protect certain people (i.e., not gays).

That's rich. You're the one conflating unlike things. This isn't about your belief about how government should work. We are criticizing your dismissal of a very real issue that very really affects a lot of people and prejudices their ability to exist in society as equals. That we may all want to live in a world where things were different is completely irrelevant to the question of how the current world--including its "antiquated" laws and rules--operates. You have some fucking perspective and realize that you're whistling past the graveyard of rights that are being taken away from people RIGHT FUCKING NOW. So yeah, you're going to get some heat, deservedly so, because you have no fucking perspective yourself. Who the fuck cares that people couldn't file their taxes jointly 100 years ago? You can today if the government recognizes you as being married. If you don't believe it would be right to exclude LBGTQ people from that benefit then I don't understand what point you think you're making. See my previous post on sovereign citizenship bullshit. That's what you sound like right now. The rules apply to you and other people no matter what you think of the rules or how the world should operate.

What? That's sovereign citizen talk. That's like saying I don't think it should be illegal to steal so I'm going to ignore the law and steal shit. I can do it. But I'm not going to be free from the consequences when I get arrested and thrown in jail. Similarly, I can believe the government shouldn't have any say in marriage, but that isn't going to help me get tax benefits or any other benefits provided by the law to married couples.

Government recognition of marriage significantly impacts one's life regardless of personal beliefs. An obvious example of that is the ability to file jointly on a tax return and the tax benefits that provides, but other examples include the recognition of the rights of both parents of an adopted child. Your belief isn't being attacked. Your dismissal of the importance of government recognition is. It doesn't impact you because the government will readily recognize your union. It didn't always do so for others and will likely revert to those old ways.
  9. That makes sense. Just a terrible tragedy.

Essentially the same basis as it affirmed abortion. The death of Roe v. Wade has already ended a number of previously recognized rights. It'll just take time for the law to catch up.
  11. Now we know what to blame. But seriously, I've hated every time I've flown into DCA and now I'll hate it even more. I already deal with a healthy fear of flying despite doing it a lot. This is just more nightmare fuel for the fire. We really need to overhaul our air traffic safety. Too many close calls recently and it appears to be getting worse. It sucks that anyone died, but it especially sucks that it was plane full of talented kids. RIP to all.
  12. Why is Russian State media covering this or interviewing people? That seems odd to me.
  13. Maybe he should stop doing dialysis to own the libs too.
  14. I am. But I'm a petty asshole about this now.
  15. Personal injury firms generally don't take cases on an hourly basis. Contingent fees typically range from 33-45% depending on the case and how long it takes to resolve. The whole do it yourself thing with a bit of guidance isn't necessarily terrible, but can easily back fire. Send me a PM if you want.
  16. S&P 500 nearly doubled under Biden. How on earth did you fuck that up? Same way you fucked your up kidneys?
  17. That dismissal is dealing with a very specific issue. The plaintiffs in that case chose to bring their case as a claims under ERISA as opposed to a breach of contract action. There is a separate class action covering essentially the same conduct that is pending in Delaware, except those plaintiffs didn't pursue their case under ERISA. It isn't a holding that Musk did nothing wrong or that the Plaintiffs aren't owed anything. It just says that the case would not be governed or covered by ERISA.
  18. That's not true. We all know you're an incredibly shitty person. You've broadcast that quite clearly. I sincerely wish you the worst.
  19. There is no doubt that Boeings issues have complicated their return and for a short period of time the method of their return was unknown and unavailable. That is stranded. They aren't stranded now. That is a bullshit framing. They could leave. It would cause headaches, but they could do it. The ISS wouldn't collapse if they did. It just wouldn't be ideal. Calling this stranded is fucking bullshit fear mongering. Stop it. They've been asked to work overtime and they are being team players about it (partly because, you know, they are fucking astronauts).
  20. They could come home tomorrow if it was needed. Stop spreading bullshit.
  21. You have no fucking clue what you're talking about. Here is some actual, factual reporting on what is going on: https://arstechnica.com/space/2025/01/why-did-elon-musk-just-say-trump-wants-to-bring-two-stranded-astronauts-home/ The long and short of it is that the astronauts could literally come home whenever we want. But they and we would like them to stay up longer so that the space station is actually, you know, manned. They aren't stranded. They have their return vehicle right next to them if needed. But work is asking them to stay late so shit continues to run smoothly until the next workers arrive. Being that they are astronauts who spend their entire careers dreaming about the opportunity to go into space, I don't think they are too broken up about it.
  22. Selling my car necessarily means someone else has it. I don't reduce total ownership by selling. And people still need to see EVs out on the road. I say we hear them out.
  23. We have excess air power, that is true. Russia focused on artillery. The question asked about artillery shells, so I pointed out that increasing our production isn't as simple as securing the monetary commitment. There is going to be a time element. Even if we had unlimited money to throw at it, we still likely wouldn't be able to match Russian artillery production within a year.
  24. I think you overestimate our ability to quickly create new factories and supply pipelines for artillery shells. Money alone doesn't create those.
