I meant to catch this in theaters but never did. Tuning in tonight. I'm not even a climber, but I could watch climbing documentaries constantly. Thanks for the heads up

I can't believe it took 55 posts for someone to post the correct list. The chocolate:PB ratio is what makes the candy. The minis suck compared to the perfect Easter/Christmas versions, but are still superior to most other candies. Following reese's entire catalogue...1) reese's PB trees
2) reese's PB eggs
3) the big reese's PB cups with the reese's pieces in them
4) reese's PB cups
5) reese's miniature cups (not the tiny ones) with reese's pieces in them
trees and eggs have a higher peanut butter to chocolate ratio than the cups
2) Twix
3) Sour patch kids
4) Peanut m&m's
5) Snickers -
I don't have time for an overnight trip at the moment, but I want to take a day trip up to Wichita Mountains NWR. I'm about a 3-hour drive away in FW, so I should be able to wake up early and have 6-8 hours to hike. I'd be most interested in wildlife and elevation change since I don't get much of that down here. Any recs for a good trail that meets that description?

The Field Museum of Natural History is pretty cool. Second City improv was hilarious as well. Not so much for kids. I'm more of an outdoors/hiking vacationer in general, but Chicago in the summer is awesome and I will definitely go back again.

Looks like it is playing this weekend in FW. I'm definitely going to have to check it out. Is 3D worth the extra few bucks?
-
Yep, it was River Legacy. They were only a couple hundred yards from the bobcat info sign, actually. The picture was tough to screw up too much. He couldn't have been more than 10 feet from me when he crossed the trail. I've seen one at Northwest Community Park in Blue Mound a couple times as well. It's always a pleasant surprise when they show up though.

Vermillion flycatcher, nice! In keeping with the local wildlife theme, I just took this horrible cell phone photo of a bobcat in Arlington.

I just about walked into this guy at River Legacy Park in Arlington a couple hours ago. He had a buddy with him too. He was no more than 10 feet away from me when he crossed the bike trail, zero fucks given about my presence.

I spend most weekends wandering around urban wilderness. I really need to invest in at least a decent point-and-shoot. Any recs for a beginners camera for birds and other wildlife?

Bump. Looks like the wife's schooling is going to be taking us out to Santa Fe for at least 18 months, come August. We're going to check out the city over a long weekend over spring break. Would it be worth doing a day of skiing? I have no idea what Ski SF is like, but I've only ever skied twice so I'm not too picky. I can't wait to spend all summer hiking and all winter skiing for a couple years.

I believe Primo's is the Italian restaurant I went to last year. It was pretty good from what I recall. I was also drunk. AleWorX was a good place for beer.

Obviously it wasn't an emergency back then. Do you even caravan 2.0, bro? Never mind that would mean illegal immigration only worsened the last two years under Republican leadership, following 8 years of THE MOST DIVISIVE PRESIDENT EVAR!!!1!!So he thinks it's smarter to declare a national emergency three weeks after the last threat of a national emergency that he failed to address at all during his irst two years?
Kind of like this entire shutdown plan.
Its a bold move... Let's see how it works out for him. -
I was alerted to the Bru news by a post in the cloak room, immediately came over here to the happening bunker and spent all day catching up, and eventually found out the shutdown was over due to a post here in the recruiting thread. My shit is all backwards but this was the best Surly binge since at least "ok cool. Hook em"

The wife and I did a roadtrip through Oregon a couple years ago, I think the last week of April. Drove east from Portland and camped along the Columbia River a couple nights. We did an awesome hike from Eagle Creek Trailhead with something like 6 waterfalls. Unfortunately some shithead teens shot off fireworks around there and burned the forest down. Then we drove down to Bend, which I highly recommend if you like beer. Excellent breweries and not terribly far from Crater Lake. As far as it being worth it, that time of year you will likely only have access to the area by the lodge, with most of the road around the lake closed due to snow. We went anyway and it was still an incredible sight. We drove for the coast after that and camped near Yachats, which is pretty small and didn't have a ton going on. Still, the drive up the coast is gorgeous and definitely recommend Cannon Beach.
Tunnel Falls, Crater Lake, Yaquina Head Lighthouse -
MAGA dipshits have to be the most entitled little cunts ever. I have never hated a group of people so much.

Well considering the buzzfeed report was released, what, 24 hours ago? When else would Mueller's response be made? Tuesday morning, 4 days later?

Marco Rubio definitely thinks it is time to consider exploring the possibility of potentially being concerned about something Trump might do."Mormon Marco" is unfair. Marco has been exceedingly concerned about each thing that has been concerning and I have confidence that he'll patiently wait for the next concerning thing that arises and he'll again not hesitate for one moment being concerned about whatever the next thing that is concerning. Over and over Marco has shown Florida that if something concerning happens he'll by God be concerned as shit about it.

Late to the party somehow, skipping posts from the last few weeks. I love this show, 3 episodes in. The real game of thrones. The wire, breaking bad, narcos... basically all of my favorite shows are about drug trafficking.
-
Yea, I know, kind of a niche thing. Edith L Moore nature sanctuary is great for urban wildlife. In addition to woodpeckers, there are plenty of opportunities to photo snakes, possum, raccoons, etc. at close range.

Where are you looking, Swayze? If you're in Houston I know a couple good spots for Pileated.

I threw one in my build-your-own sixer yesterday. It was flavorless. Is Karbach's 2018 Yule Shoot Your Eye Out their worst offering yet?
I'd say yes. RIP to one of former favorites. -
That seems like not targeting. We would be freaking out if GJ was about to get kicked out for that. Penalty, sure. Not worthy of an ejection.

Truth. If this place was closer to Houston, everyone would know about it. Southern Star has much greater distribution, but B-52 is the superior product from Conroe, and I like southern star. The brewery location is cool, they have a ton of styles and they have new, quality beers every time I go. If I didnt have family in Conroe, I probably wouldn't even be aware it existed despite living in Houston for 5 years. They make solid IPAs. The rest of their stuff is no bueno.
and Ive been saying it for years, but B-52 is one of the best breweries in the state. No one else in Texas can match the range of styles they do, almost all of which are hits. Just wish they werent so far away -
Damn ocug. Sorry, man. I also just booked 4 nights, 1/2-1/6, with the wife. She's never been and thanks to fish bowls and hand grenades in college, I might as well have never been either. This thread is amazing, but I'm pretty sure I need to start the pre-NO diet and liver detox program now. I cant wait to fully look into all the dining options, but I'm thinking Drago's, CP, Peche and Sazerac are in my near future.
Time for another ‘my dog is awesome’ thread

First time in 8 years that our old husky-lab got to finally play in the snow again. It took him about 0.5 seconds to turn back into a puppy.
