1. I have been slacking these past couple of weeks. Got back on the wagon tonight.

Super pumped on this pristine bottle of 78 Mondavi Reserve that I recently picked up.

  2. I need to order wine.  A lot of wine.  I haven't purchased any this year and my stock is going down.

You came to the right place. What do you like to drink and a budget? Or better yet just give me your credit card and I’ll make things appear on your doorstep!

Thank you very much! I thought the Death Bottle would have been worth more than the Wild Turkey Tribute, guess not.

You can pick up 4 or 5 bottles of wine now?

More like help offset the costs of all the wine I just bought from another Surly member.

  4. From bsm value page around 1100 for death bottle and 1400 for wild turkey tribute US bottle. Both from early this year though so may have gone up.

Thank you very much! I thought the Death Bottle would have been worth more than the Wild Turkey Tribute, guess not.

  5. So here are the two bottles...

Wild Turkey Tribute 15 year 50th Anniversary - Not sure that it would add any value but it is signed by Jimmy Russell, Master Distiller, 2004

Booker’s B96-C-15 Commemorative Bottle 1929-2004. Bottle 10 of 3000. I believe this is what is referred to as the “Death Bottle?”

  6. Where are you located? There are several Facebook Bourbon Group mods in this thread.

I’m here in Central Texas. There used to be a bourbon group on Facebook I was on but it got shut down.

  7. You can see what liquor stores around the country are charging on Wine Searcher.

One bottle I believe is from 2004 and the other 2006. Not sure wine searcher would be of any use?

Update...I found the 2004 on wine searcher! I use this for wine all the time but didn’t think about bourbon.

  8. Need a little help. I’ve got two bottles of some pretty rare bourbon and more than likely not going to drink them. Have recently thought about putting them up for sale but I have no clue on pricing. Is there a website or good source for either Booker’s or Wild Turkey prices?

Thanks!  69 year old wine appreciator, but not a geek.

You can never go wrong with either Cristal or Krug.  Here are a few others that might fit the bill.

    Cristal

    Krug Grande Cuvee

    Piper Heidsieck Rare

    Charles Heidsick

    Dom Ruinart

    Billecart-Salmon Cuvee Nicolas Francois

    Pol Roger Winston Churchill

    Bollinger R.D.

    Taittinger CdC

I need a recommendation for a $200-300 bottle of champagne for a birthday gift.  He's not a Dom fan.  Krug?  Any help would be great!

Edit to add:  I need to ship it, so an online resource is preferred.

Would be glad to help out.  Is this for a wine geek or just a casual drinker?

  11. I got two flats on my boat trailer last weekend. Both flats happened about an hour apart headed to LBJ last weekend. The tires were about eight years old which apparently is way past the life span. Made a few calls and got a mobile tire repair out with new tires at 10pm on Friday night of Labor Day weekend! That set me back a few $$$.

  12. I’ve been slacking a little lately. Squeezed in a quick trip to Colorado right before the kids went back to school. Found some gems in the local liquor store!

One evening we celebrated a birthday and found a unicorn on the wine list! This is probably the best domestic Chardonnay that I have ever had. If you run across older Eyrie I highly recommend giving it a try.

  13. You know planes.  Have a chance to land a good block of hours on a Falcon 50.  Thoughts?  I trust the guy - has a fleet and just picked up a G4 too.  I can pay $500 more an hour for that one but will only do it rarely as it sucks fuel like nobody's business...Not to that G6 yet but figure this is a way for me to learn about em and not get totally crushed.  Technically it's a dry lease and he's putting me on his insurance etc.

You might look into a Lear 45 if they have one in the fleet. Cabin is not as big as the Challenger but the costs to operate should be less and its faster!
  14. Loved the two Goodman units I had at the last home; never had an issue and I ran them hard. New build has a 5 ton Lennox 2 stage 16 SEER.  I have always heard bad things about Lennox and repairs, but I don't really have a choice in the matter.  Is a 5 ton right for 3500 sqft 1 story?

Depends. If you have foam insulation maybe. Too many factors to just go solely based off square footage. If conventional insulation you will need two units.

  15. It's doable in that timeframe if you dedicate more than a few hours a week, but even then it requires more luck. I'd plan on 6 months if you stay dedicated, flying 2-3 times a week. Too many variables like weather, plane availability, etc.

By a couple of months I meant to say I was thinking around 6 months.

  16. it is becoming very vexing to me that milkman and i are not the best of friends in which he invites me to come drink wine with him each time he goes on one of these benders/extravaganzas.

Well since you asked....celebrated my best friends birthday and some great wine! We kept waiting for you to show up with some !

Here you go - 99 Sunsetter

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Had a 99 Sunsetter that looked very similar. Boat didn’t give me a lick of trouble in 600+ hours. Sold it in 2007 for a VLX. Now starting to think about selling the VLX for a newer model.

  18. Weekley is really good. I am biased because I know them and have them as a client but they will do semi custom using their architect and you don’t have to deal with custom builder bullshit, which can be tremendous.

I have about had my fill of high end custom builders.  My experience has been that they’re bigger pre-madonnas than their clients.

Don’t even get me started....Weekley blows donkey balls on semi custom work.

Sure there are lots of crappy “custom builders” but let’s separate the men from the boys!

  19. Thanks. Looks like there's only a couple in town that advertise as estate law folks. You have any experience with them personally?

I don’t have any experience with them. I asked two of my friends that are attorneys in Waco and who they would recommend.

They both said Rainey & Rainey are really good.

Another name one of them suggested is Dick McCall.
