  1. i don’t think i’ve ever seen three different five second calls against the same team in one game.
  2. devers 0/19 with 15 k’s to start the season. i think he misheard them when they said they wanted his defense to match his offense.
  3. you got it. i’ll collect from durdy, greg, and timmy for mojo and me. 👌🏼
  4. how many times have you seen the graph that shows that the nuggets are the best offense in the league when jokic is on the floor and the worst offense *of all time* whenever he’s not on the floor? because it’s been posted a bunch. if your argument is going to be all about the word “valuable” then jokic wins it unanimously.
  5. rick barnes has coached tennessee to a top 5 defense for five straight years, and two of this year’s four finalists for the national defensive POY are volunteers, both of whom are smart players. in fact zakai ziegler is one of the smartest players i’ve ever seen. you don’t do this: at 5’8” without being one damn intelligent player.
  6. not sure if i’ve ever mentioned this, but
  7. i mean this is the signing. this is who we need. this is the missing piece. if we sign gyorkores, zubimendi, and some depth players that’s a 10/10 window. if we are serious about winning, this signing needs to happen. i’d also be just as pleased with isak, but i feel like that would cost us a lot more.
  8. anyone who thinks that it’s logical to crush a coach and deem him a loser because he’s never won the most difficult tournament in sports is either an idiot, they have an axe to grind, or both. ive said this before, but ill never forget walking into phog allen field house in 2022 and seeing a whooping FOUR, count em, FOUR national titles in the history of the school. the school whose worst coach ever is the guy who invented the sport. that school. even with their fifth win since then, KU, a bona fide blue blood, wins the title once out of every 17 tries. that’s with every advantage, all of the best coaches, and plenty of cheating as well. but yeah, let’s crush a guy who only coaches at football schools because his ceiling is constantly going to the S16 and fielding competitive teams every year. 🙄
  9. he doesn’t have a title because it’s an incredibly difficult tourney to win, and he turned down kentucky while at Texas and turned down UCLA while at Tennessee. the blue bloods did come calling, and he turned them down.
  10. this whole page is a bunch of guys who never post here crushing rick barnes for having one fewer title than tom izzo and the same amount as mark few, kelvin sampson, bruce pearl, etc. Bill Self, Scott Drew, Rick Pitino, John Calipari, Tom Izzo, and Dan Hurley. that’s every active coach with a title. oh the horror of not being on that list. i wonder how many titles barnes would have if he cheated as hard as self, drew, pitino, and cal. 🤔
  11. lol so now we’re crushing barnes for not living up to UT *football* expectations. that’s hilarious.
  12. normally when you correctly pick the entire FF you’re in first place. not even close this year lol.
  13. uh, wrong. and beyond that, just an oddly cynical (or possibly/probably uninformed) take. what you call a “glaring flaw” and “stubbornness” is literally just the natural give and take that essentially every single elite defensive program faces: it’s really really hard to be elite on both sides of the ball. it’s that simple. five straight years with a top 5 defense, four straight years with a tourney win, theee straight trips to the S16, two straight trips to the elite 8 (tripling he number of e8 trips in program history) and his team lost today when his two all american perimeter players went ice cold on wide open catch and shoot looks. and yet here you are in here bitching about barnes and condemning his “stubbornness”, when in reality this roster of his should never have won 30 games, should never have featured two all americans, and should never have been an elite 8 team. here you are, some guy who doesn’t even watch the sport, who couldn’t even name two tennessee players with a gun to your head, totally ignorant of the amazing job that barnes has done with this team, and you’re in here on the last day of his season bitching about what is undeniably an outstanding coaching job by barnes and one of the best seasons in tennessee basketball history. just great stuff all around.
  14. dude he’s a HOF coach who is the GOAT at two different major conference programs, and he’s going to retire with 900+ wins, making him top 10 all time in d-1 coaching history. he’s also coached and developed an insanely impressive roster of all americans, league poy’s, NPOYs, and nba players, including mvps, title winners, and gold medalists. his ceiling, which he’s hitting, is higher than 99.9% of d-1 coaches and yet you’re in here talking about him like he’s fran mccaffery.
  15. i cannot believe he’s back in the game. wow.
  16. wow, that was a gnarly fall. that could have been so much worse. really hope he’s alright.
  17. and for anyone wondering, barnes’s tennessee team went 7-3 in march with wins over alabama, auburn, kentucky, and ucla. oh and Texas too. someone was conspicuously absent from this thread while all of that was happening though. weird!
  18. one elite 8 bernie and ernie allan houston cheis lofton ^^^ thats the entirety of tennessee basketball’s history before rick barnes was hired. barnes has done a tremendous job taking this program to new heights, and the job he’s done this season, taking a thin team with very little size or shooting, and winning 30 games and going to the E8 is just emblematic of the job he’s done there. his teams are greater than the sum of its parts. from one elite 8 in school history, to now three straight trips to the S16 including back to back E8’s. really happy for Coach Barnes, he’s doing a great job there, and i just that he has 3-4 more years in him. HOF lock for sure, and a great man. happy for his success, and wish him nothing but continued success.
  19. that’s not what happened. the shot clock was erroneously reset even though u of h never lost possession. they had to reset the clock from 28 to 22.
  20. if tennessee doesn’t miss a million wide open shots in the 1H then this is anybody’s game right now.
