  1. Definitely planning on Troon North. Which course is the better one? Will consider Sedona, too, but we are getting a pretty nice HomeAway rental. Want to keep as close to Scottsdale as possible. Thanks, all!
  2. The wife and I are headed to Scottsdale in the fall for our anniversary. I've been a handful of times but haven't been able to explore the area all that much. What are some good restaurants to check out and places for good drinks (good bourbon menu is a plus). We also plan to play some golf (maybe 2 total rounds) and I'm torn on where to go. My gut says TPC Scottsdale but Troon North looks incredible. What are the "must play" courses?
  3. Got ours for Saturday. Is it true about no alcohol sales in ballpark during regional/super regionals? If so...furk.
  4. This hits close to home. Or when I’m about to close my eyes to go to sleep that is the perfect time to plan our trip in 4 months.
  5. This is a common occurrence in this thread...So I’ll be taking the blame for not seeing it coming. Wife: What do you think about (insert some new idea she has) Me: *Gives honest, logical feedback* Wife: You’re never on MY “team”. You disagree with everything. *discussion ends - 15 minutes pass* Wife: Can you please just agree with me from time to time? Me: Sure *1 hour passes* Wife: Why do you think all my ideas are bad? For the record, my feedback was not aggressive, mean, or demeaning. I simply did not give her the response she wanted. And now she won’t drop it. Rinse, wash, repeat. I’m getting drunk now
  6. The term “bandwidth” being used around the office for having extra time to help with something.
  7. Fucking this. I get home from work and I routinely hear “oh by the way my whole family (and 5 kids) are coming over for dinner. Can you cook?” And usually they will be here in the next hour or so.
  8. Baylor women man...I hear you... I used to travel pretty frequently for work so this habit of always wanting me home really got started then. We also have 2 dogs (both under 1.5 years old) that she doesn't think can be at home alone longer than a few hours so that doesn't help.
  9. Definitely on board with rolled up newspaper. Will report back.
  10. Yeah, I didn't go quietly but also didn't make a big deal about it. I just made some comments along the lines of "so glad we could spend that quality time together" and stuff like that. She's got a week from hell starting today so I figured best not to totally blow up. Booked a tee time for Thursday evening so I'm coming out even.
  11. Worked from home today and decided I’d try to get 18 holes of golf in around 5 pm. I love evening tee times and gives me something to look forward to on a Monday. Texted the wife just to give her a heads up (my bad) and she goes on about how she’s working late every night this week except tonight and wants to spend time together. Fine, I can play another night. Sure enough, she gets off work and goes to get her nails done. Then catches a 6:45 workout class. Home around 8:45 then goes upstairs to watch “her shows” for the evening. I guess it’s totally unacceptable I go do something I want to do.
  12. This will happen. Will probably order every small plate...you know...for science...
  13. Giving this a try on Thursday. Going to try and make it in time for happy hour.
  14. Looking for some good salsa recipes to add to the rotation. We love salsa that brings some heat but I haven’t found one online that hits the spot. Any good ones on this board?
  15. I had it at 225. I typically go right to the sear once it comes out of the oven then let it rest. I’ll try both and see what works best. Thanks!
  16. Glad to see some mention of PHP’s pizza on here. I thought it was atrocious and was called crazy for that. Still go for the beer all the time but can’t remember the last time I ate there. I’ll throw TopGolf into the mix. Granted most don’t go there for the food but it’s awful. It’s the kind of menu where nothing sounds all that great and I always end up disappointed
  17. Bought a dry aged bone-in ribeye and reverse seared it last night. Have only done 1 dry aged steak previously. Internal temp read 128 degrees so I took it out and noticed it did NOT feel like 128 degrees - felt more medium. Gave it a VERY quick sear and, sure enough, steak came out looking on the high end of medium. Is this normal with dry aged steaks? Again, not too familiar with cooking these. I did use a new BT meat thermometer so maybe that was just off or I just had it up against the bone. Regardless, tasted fucking amazing. Flavor and texture were spot on - color just wasn't that beautiful red that we typically get.
  18. “You wanna go get a pizza and fuck?” ”what’s the matter? You don’t like Pizza??”
  19. Played in a men's lacrosse league (post college) for a bit. Lots of injuries given the nature of the sport. One that sticks out in my mind was a teammate (defense) took an outside shot right to the nuts. I'm pretty sure his nuts took a direct hit. I've never heard a man scream like that. Writhing in pain, vomiting, screaming...shit gave me chills. He wasn't wearing a cup which I still have no explanation for. I heard some rumors that he ruptures a testicle but nothing confirmed. He never came back to play afterwards and none of us really knew the guy that well (first game).
  20. I was going to post about how much my MIL sucks but now it doesn’t seem so bad.
