heartworm treatment

Recommended Posts

Just took in a dog off the street and in the course of getting its shots and tests it was revealed that she has heartworms. I'm dealing with a animal shelter and their quote for treatment was $425. That's not going to break the bank, but does anyone have a cheaper solution?

We adopted a golden retriever a few years back and found out it had worms a few months later.  We ended up paying more than you mentioned.  I can't remember exact amount but I am thinking 600-800 range.  Biggest hassle was there is a window of the treatment where you are supposed to keep the dog calm ( no running / jumping, etc.) so that the worms don't dislodge and cause a stroke or something like that.    3 or 4 years post treatment now and all is A-OK.

Good luck!!

I believe my wife paid $1000+ for treatment for her "heartworm-light" schnauzer terrier a few years ago. Sounds like you're getting a deal.

He is. Last round I paid for was about 600.

And your wife spent the cash on other shit.
