The reason there is cinnamon in Cincinnati chili is because the recipe was brought over by Greek immigrants.  It ain't supposed to be Texas Red.

Cinnamon in the chili doesn't bother me. In fact, a good pot of ol' Texas Red is made better with the addition of some good cinnamon flavored Mexican chocolate.

The problem with Cincinnati chili is serving it over spaghetti with a pile of unmelted cheese on top. It's just plain worse than regular spaghetti and meat/tomato sauce.

I'm not arguing that it's good food, but that's my opinion.  I'm just saying that particular ingredient is extremely common in the region from where the sauce was derived.
